Ive been working with 3 women from India for the past 2 years and they have been totally opening my eyes to how amazing Indian food it and I absolutely love them for it! =)
Emmy, I love how considerate you are towards all the cultures. You make sure to never offend any races or cultures and you always have very detailed descriptions about each snack that really makes me feel like I can taste what you're eating. I'm 14 and you would never think I would enjoy food tasting videos but I really do! It's so interesting to see snacks from different cultures. It's awesome! Thanks Emmy!!
I agree. I really love the human being that she is an such an amazing role model ro others younger than her or even older than her.. I love how she knows how to be a good person. and also appreciate how she respects all cultures and countries 💛💕 💜 My Namaste to Emmy♡
Thank you for the translation. I had imagined it translated to “tiny spicy bits that fall between the cushions of your sofa!” It would probably sound odd to people from India, but I enjoy it sprinkled on my morning yogurt.
I would never recommend eating canned Indian sweet meats (misthi). They're never as good as homemade or restaurant/mishthi shop versions and often they're quite shoddy in terms of quality. Savoury snacks, on the other hand, are perfectly fine off the shelf.
I love her reaction to the ragulla; it's exactly what my Korean friends looked like when they tasted one for the first time. We ended up dividing a single rasgulla into four quarters so four of them could eat a piece each, haha. Also, it was also really nice to see that she essentially managed to translate Khatta Meetha perfectly when she first ate it; she said it was sweet, which is meetha, and then that it was sour, which is khatta in Hindi. ^^ And the fact that she realised one of the main purposes that namkeen serves, i.e. to be had with alcohol (chakna).
Hey Emma. I live in the Lower Mainland of BC Canada near Vancouver. Ethnic Indians are about 12% of the local population. The best part is the culture and food they bring us!
That didn't look anything like Rasmalai. The syrup is not transparent. It is either milky white or yellow if you add saffron and it's my fav dessert and it's really fancy too.
It's like canned fruits. They just don't taste like the fresh stuff. Watching her eating the canned sweets made me nervous (and a bit confused when I saw the "ras malai"), because even I'm hardly ever pleased with them. I hope she gets to try authentic indian sweets someday!
I can't wait to cut gulab jamun like that it just goes in my mouth in one go😂 Also that was not original rasmalai you should definitely try the authentic one from any Indian restaurant to taste the true flavour Also you are supposed to eat the haldiram's mixtures like that only...you can try it with spoon also
Lol I also noticed that , though I have eaten with spoon but then I guess it's high time that I should be eating it with table etiquettes n with knife n fork 🤭
FINAALLYYY someone who got actual Indian snacks alu bhujia well seasoned is right! If u enjoyed the canned rasgula, rasmalai and gulab jamun please have them made by someone...it tastes way better
miss42310 fair comment of course. Home made is best. But Emmy does focus on packaged & convenience food in general. It's kind of her style. She just taste tests things you can easily buy and are uniform . Which is good; all in good fun.
Hi Emmy! My package for you is almost complete. Will be sending it out soon! I had included a few things that were in this video, so I am going to replace them with other things. I also wanted to add that Khatta means sour and meetha means sweet in Hindi. So the Khatta meetha mixture is sour and sweet. Rasmalai is served in a thickened and flavoured milk based concoction, flavoured with saffron, almond and cardamoms. Also Bhujia and Kashmiri mixture is lovely with beer and other liqour and often served with alcohol in bars and restaurants. And Kurkure has many more flavours too.
omg I just wanna say I so appreciate the fact that you chose like nice melodious indian music for the intro instead of like the comical upbeat steriotypical music they play for most such videos

@emmymadeinjapan also Khatta Meetha means Sour Sweet.. which is literally what you tasted haha. Gulab Jamon also should not be eaten out of a can, find a nearby restaurant that serves this. Same thing applies to Rasmali

+LotusEater Yeah I don't think you were complaining or condescending in the least. The tinned sweets are terrible, coz they are so sweet n sticky! and the tinned rasmalai is a joke coz its supposed to be soaked in milk and not sugar syrup. So I agree with u. Btw the person you were talking seems to be a troll as he purposely annoyed u and then deleted all his comments and now it looks like you're talking to yourself :P lol
Hi sis! From a Indian : There is no other way of eating aloo bujjya you have to use your hand or you can pour it in a bowl and use a spoon instead . And the rasamillai you had was wrong one . The original is yellow in colour and soaked in sweetened milk!! That doesn't taste way too sweet like rasagula . It has the perfect amount of sweet!
If you read the instructions for the canned desserts ... you have to take them out of the can into a bowl, add 400ml water to dilute the syrup and warm it in a microwave. Gulab Jamun can be eaten warm, while the other two are eaten cold. AND for rasmslai ... you add 400 - 500 ml of milk than water to dilute the syrup.
宮本 she is a racist....there is cultural difference between each state and its neighbouring one....so that doesn't make them call 29 different countries...these people reinforce stereotypes in foreigners....they need to change....whoever wrote the letter
God people!!! The person in the video is trying to say that North India and South India are LIKE 2 different countries with different cuisines, cultures, beliefs, etc. She isn't saying that they are actually 2 different countries.
@@fawkesontheroll8594 i have been to both and they're not like 2 different countries at all. Each state in india has its own distinctions but there isnt really that "north-south divide" like she is making it out to be. stupid concept it is.
The khatta mitha is hindi for sweet sour taste hence the combination of flavors. The rasmalai is supposed to be served with condesed milk topped with a few pistachios and/or other dried fruits.
Hi, thank you for a very nice video. Quick tip, actually, a few; both rasgulla and gulab jamun have a much thinner sugar syrup. Due to packaging issues (there was a major court case involving preservatives vs shelf-life and its impact) the company decided to thicken the sugar syrup. Ideally, the syrup for rasgulla is mostly water, a general rule of thumb is to empty out the can in a large bowl, and mix equal parts of chilled water and canned syrup, then soak the rasgullas for 30 min. The rasgullas expand and the texture becomes better, not to mention less sweet. Its generally served as part evening snacks, cut into quarters. For gulab jamuns, 1/3 water, 2/3 syrup, soak, and before serving warm the entire thing in the oven. Its basically a warm dessert. [PS: substituting the 1/3 water with brandy makes it a perfect winter dessert]
Oh my God !! I was in India last year and I have enjoyed all that you had eaten. actually, I guessed exactly what the package could have from India to you. I love India and I'll be back there soon.. you were just killing me Emmy eating all those good stuff and reminding me of my good time. thanks a lot, ^^ I am from Tunisia by the way ;)
Hey Emmy! What a great video! I'm so glad you enjoyed the snacks from India. I actually recommend going to an Indian sweets store to try these desserts fresh (and warm) :). Also a fact just in case it was concerning anyone, the reason Indian desserts are so sweet is because the body craves it after a spicy meal. A lot of Indian meals are spicy as you may know, so these desserts are amazing after eating something hot. In fact, when eating from western countries (or restaurants) a lot of Indians don't want want them. So if you try them try eating a ghost pepper before it, then you'll enjoy it more XDD

That was weird. The Haldiram's Rasgulla and Rasmalai were both the same thing! Rasmalai is supposed to come with condensed milk syrup.
That's different. I am from Bengal and Rasgulla and rasmalai are different
Yeah, that's what I meant too. :) The rasmalai she used however, was oddly the same as rasgulla. Maybe it was a manufacturing mistake or something.

Never I repeat never cut Rasgulla and Gulab jamun in half. U have to eats as whole one piece. This is the first rule to eat Indian sweets , no matter what the size is.
Rasgulla is supposed to be had chilled and gulab jamun piping hot. You should also try jalebi :) Ohh you did check out rasmalai but thats not the way it's supposed to be had :( to bad...the real thing is amazingggg
+Rim S she should also try barfi :)

You can eat "bugia'' with spoons.
why couldn't you eat the crushed chips? seems like a waste to throw them away cause the got crushed
Right? lol. I actually sit on a bag of chips after I've opened it because I love crushed chips :D
I think it's because the air is squeezed out, which means the bag has holes and the chips might have gone bad.
+Gina Yes and she can use them as crunchy salad topping too!
