    I really appreciate the lack of cinematics and sensationalism here. I remember watching Kratts' Creatures on PBS when I was little. Good to see the Kratt brothers are still all about education!

      I grew up watching Zoboomafoo on PBS, I’ve only recently discovered wild Kratts within the past year; and now I am exploring this series that I never initially saw on TV.
      The Kratt brothers, hearing the stories of Steve Irwin and one documentary when, and since he died, and Austin Stevens have been my biggest nature mentors with Coyote Peterson as well this past year.
      In the beginning for me, it was Zoboomafoo and the favorite leaping lemur who thankfully has a continuing bloodline of his fellow sifaka lemurs.

    I actually like how they show people in this documentary;
    It illustrates how tough this terrain actually is. It seems so open, but it's still hard to get around and it states how even a native animal can get tripped up and hurt, but also how they can use it to their advantage to hunt, or escape being hunted.
    It just further emphasizes how awesome these animals are to be able to gracefully move around in their habitat, while humans still need to invent an even better vehicle to even keep up. :D

    • @rypatmackrock
      @rypatmackrock 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      My best guess for the best vehicles to keep up with the dogs, (and I saw this in one African wild dog documentary besides this), is probably either an off-road motorcycle, or a good mountain bike after mountain biking across my high school days. Yet I do not doubt at all, that because of the veraciously capable predators like lions and hyenas, that it is dangerous to bike across the African savanna. I am yet to visit Africa myself to witness these majestic ecosystems. Someday after I visit North American parks like Yellowstone, the Black Hills of South Dakota, the plains, and to see the red wolves in North Carolina besides zoos.

    Wild dogs really do treat puppies like royalty. There is a clip called "spy pup" where researchers send in a robotic puppy that looks exactly like a wild pup. The adult dogs accept it and love it like it was their own. What a generous breed of animal.

      Just like certain wolves I’ve been researching about in North America like the Mexican wolf, and the even more endangered American red wolf; they have the inherent advantage of having large litters like this, which can help them recover as long as we help them.

      @@sharonkaczorowski8690 you’re welcome. I’ve learned that alligators have a similar story; and now they are in the clear. They too were once threatened and endangered between the 60s and 70s, they were protected, and because they also have large litters guarded by protective mothers; one of my cousins that lives in Florida casually told me “they are everywhere” when it comes to looking for them.

    2:30 roaming Africa for millions of years. Wow that's crazy to imagine.
    2:30 So neat seeing the previous years litter all about tending to the current litter as the cycle repeats itself in which next time it'll be this current litter tending to their following litter. and as stated before, so adoreable how the littermates all huddle up and stay together everywhere. too cute

    9:15 i've gotten so accustomed to seeing them with those huge ears, its hard/weird to picture them like the other way without them
    9:17 those bellies always so full. why cant they just hold all those snippets a bit longer to really appreciate the scene of these magnificent millions of years old creatures.
    9:25 thats just the most adorable sight I've seen yet. toooo cute they are. I just cant see how they instinctively know to run back to den for safety and shelter. there's no others in there to protect them, they just simply go in there bc its home

  • @justaguy4real
    @justaguy4real 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    2:20 so fascinating how much the littermates stay together all the time basically as support for each other, and their tolerance of each other when feeding on a kill whereas they'll nip and complain and fight off the elders. I'm thinking probably its bc its been engrained into them as they bonded feeding/nursing by each other together; it simply makes sense. I so much adore watching these creatures interacting and compassion with each other...

      dawnpackAJ I'm pretty sure Emilia is saying that you shouldn't acknowledge the word "gay" being used as an insult. If you don't think it's stupid or campy, say that. If you don't think it involved lovers of the same gender, say that instead. "Gay" and "stupid" are not interchangeable words.

    Individual African wild dogs can be identified by their unique coat pattern. African wild dogs hunt in groups and can bring down wildebeest weighing up to 250 kg! On average, the female African wild dog gives birth to 10 pups, which is the largest average litter size of any dog. African wild dogs form packs of 2 to 27 individuals, but only the dominant male and female breed.

    Those sores that were on them were probably from flees. The mom is not the only one who carries pups in her mouth. And they may not have been carried at all. And she may have moved dens because of an enemy in their surroundings, flees, and/or just because they usually move dens every so often depending on the surroundings.

      Amo MUITO os Animais 🙂♥️Leopardo, Girafa, Urso, Lobos, Rinoceronte, Suricato, Ratel, Carcaju, Gato-Maracajá, Feneco, Cachorro Vinagre, Orangotango, Tamanduá-Bandeira, Elande, Zebras, Cavalos Selvagens, Calau, o Varano-do-Nilo, a Píton Birmanesa e etc.. vou falar Sobre o meu 2°SEGUNDO Animal Preferido o ( Cachorro Selvagem Africano ) tbm Conhecido como "Mabeco". é da Família dos Canídeos, um fato Curioso sobre o Cachorro Selvagem Africano, é que o nome Científico dá espécie: ( Lycaon pictus ) Significa "Lobo Pintado" ou Seja o Mabeco ou Cachorro Selvagem Africano tem um nome diferente, do nome Científico. OBS: A sua pelagem muito Caracteristica com manchas de Castanho, Preto, Branco e Alaranjado foi o que deu Origem ao seu nome Científico. Pois o Mabeco tem Características tanto Físicas quanto Genéticas mais parecida com as dos Cães Domésticos, do que com as dos Lobos. por isso É que São Chamados de Cães Selvagens, e não de Lobos como o nome Científico o Chama, embora todas as espécies de Lobos que vivem na America do Norte, Europa e Ásia tbm sejam da Família dos Canídeos. Agora vamos ver um pouco sobre o outro nome que está espécie de Canídeo é Conhecida. O Significado do nome mabeco, mais comum nos Dicionários É " T. de Angola. Cão feroz dos matos (canis mesomelus) " Porém alguns estudiosos destes magníficos animais e tudo relacionados a eles, ensinam que a Palavra Mabeco na Verdade teve sua origem num dialeto Africano dos muitos q existem na África. o dialeto em questão é o ( quimbundo ) e a Palavra nesta língua é mabeku, plural de dibeku, >, a partir de Ku-di-beka, ou Seja " entregar-se ", referência à perseguição e a persistência Implacável nas Caçadas que movem. Por Coincidência o nome Mabeco, em um outro dialeto Africano bem menos Conhecido, Significa " Mestre da Caça " ou "rei da Caça ". O mabeco é um predador de médio porte, com cerca de 75 a 110 cm de comprimento e aproximadamente 18 a 36 kg de peso. ele é o 8° Predador mais Veloz com uma velocidade média entre ( 57 à 60 km/h. ) A cabeça é em geral mais escura e a cauda termina num tufo branco. As orelhas são grandes e arredondadas e as pernas longas e finas terminam em patas fortes com quatro dedos, diferentemente de outros Canídeos. Gosto muito dos Cães Selvagens Africanos, Mabecos. pois Além de serem Lindos, São Muito inteligentes, e trabalham em equipe nas Caçadas com cada membro da matilha " jogando bem na sua posição " Eles caçam em grupo e começam assustando manadas para separar um indivíduo mais debilitado, Caçam desde animais pequenos como as Gazelas, a animais de médio e Grande porte Como Gnus, Zebras, e até em casos não muito comuns Búfalos. Mas as presas Preferidas dos Cães Selvagens Africanos, são os ( Impalas ) uma espécie de Antílope, em até 69% das vezes q os Mabecos saem para Caçar, a presa escolhida por eles, são os Impalas. Exceto nas regiões da África onde vivem poucos Impalas. Um Fato curioso é q os Impalas estão entre os Animais mais Velozes do Mundo, incluindo Herbívoros e Predadores Carnívoros. A Velocidade média de um Impala Adulto, chega entre ( 74 à 82 Km/h. ) e os Impalas Conseguem manter esta INCRÍVEL velocidade, por até três quilômetros e meio. Sem Contar q os Impalas tem ótima Visão e exelente audição, Sempre estão vigilantes e Portanto DIFíCILMENTE São pegos de Surpresa por qualquer Predador. É um Grande Desafio para os Mabecos Caçar Impalas, e mesmo assim os Impalas são as presas Prediletas deles. MUITOS Pesquisadores tem opiniões diferentes do Porque os Impalas MESMO com todas estas Vantagens, são as presas Prediletas dos Cães Selvagens, alguns Pesquisadores acreditam q Os Mabecos Preferem Caçar mais os Impalas para se manterem lonje da Concorrência já q são presas difíceis de capturar, só os Leopardos e os Guepardos Conseguem Capturar Impalas com mais frequência em relação aos outros predadores Hienas, e Leões, e MESMO assim os Leopardos e Guepardos NÃO chegam nem perto dos Mabecos em relação a captura dos Impalas. Então os Pesquisadores acreditam q os Mabecos Preferem os Impalas, para EVITAR como foi dito outros Predadores pois teoricamente ONDE tem Impalas, tem poucos Predadores por perto já q são Muito difíceis de Capturar. Já outros Pesquisadores Acreditam q os Mabecos Preferem os Impalas porque acham a Carne deles MAIS Saboroso do q TODAS as outras presas, mas É Cientificamente Comprovado q a Carne dos Impalas é umas das MAIS Nutritivas dos Herbívoros da África, se Não a mais. e os Mabecos parecem saber disso segundo alguns Pesquisadores, sem Contar que gostam Muito da Carne dos Impalas como já foi dito. Já Outros Pesquisadores acreditam q Os Mabecos Preferem os Impalas Simplesmente pelo DESAFIO da Caçada MESMO, já q É uma das presas mais difíceis de Capturar pelos motivos já citados. e os Mabecos de acordo cm estes Pesquisadores gostam deste Desafio, e aproveitam para aprimorarem e Aperfeiçoaram suas habilidades de Caça. Para mim Roberto Bezerra do Egito( Roberto Evangelista ) Os TRÊS Pontos de Vista q Citei, de diferentes Pesquisadores, estão Corretas. Ou tem um pouco de Verdade em cada uma delas Principalmente nas duas últimas Citadas, é só minha opinião. eles tem Estratégias diferentes Nas Caçadas, mudam de acordo com a necessidade ou circunstância, e tbm de acordo com o tipo de presa q estão Caçando. as duas estratégias de Caça usadas pelos mabecos, são a Embosca q tbm é usada por outros Predadores, mas Principalmente a perseguição Implacável a Presa. nesta Estratégia a matilha se divide em pequenos Grupos, com cada grupo longe um do outro, a medida que um dos grupo começa a perseguição e Cansam, os outros grupos que estão posicionados bem mais a frente, assumem a PERSEGUIÇÃO e assim Sucessivamente; Depois que começam a perseguição se revezam com os grupos. eles mordem a parte traseira da presa, até que ela fique exausta e desista. Então Eles Vencem. OBS: este tipo de Estratégia de caça, que é Considerada pelos Pesquisadores como uma das MAIS inteligentes e eficazes entre Predadores, Só é vista entre os Mabecos. e Com CERTEZA esta estratégia específica de caça usada pelos mabecos em Cerca de 68% à 72% das Caçadas, aliada a União e ao trabalho Coordenado em equipe fazem DOS Cães Selvagens Africanos os Predadores terrestres MAIS bem Sucedidos do Reino Animal. com um índice de 85% à 87% de Sucesso nas Caçadas, OBS: em algumas regiões da África o Índice chega a 90%. de Sucesso. nenhum outro Predador é tão bem Sucedido nas Caçadas como os Cães Selvagens Africanos. só para Comparar o Sucesso dos mabecos, logo em Seguida em 2º LUGAR vem os Lobos Cinzentos Americano, com um índice de 71% à 77% de Sucesso nas caçadas. o 3º na lista o Guepardo tbm Conhecido como Chita, tem um índice de 62% à 68% de Sucesso nas caçadas. Os Mabecos tbm tem Costumes e hábitos q não vemos em nenhuma outra espécie de Predador da Natureza. Como Ex: antes das Caçadas eles fazem um tipo de "cerimônia " de Cumprimento uns com os outros, através do ( tato e voz ) para animar e aumentar a empolgação na Caçada 🙂 É mais ou menos como uma equipe Esportiva faz antes de um Jogo Importante e decisivo. Os Mabecos são muito amáveis uns com os outros, o mais Jovens e os mais experientes das Caçadas Alimentam não apenas os filhotes regogitando Carne, mas alimentam tbm os membros da Matilha q estão machucados e impossibilitados de caçar por algum motivo; e alimentam tbm aos membros mais velhos da matilha q NÃO conseguem mais caçar. OBS: este tipo de Comportamento NÃO é Visto em nenhuma outra espécie de Predador, mesmo aqueles q vivem em ( grupos, Bandos, clãs, Alcatéias, matilhas e etc...) e os Mabecos NUNCA ou quase nunca brigam entre si, ou Seja com membros da mesma Matilha. Só é Comum os Cachorros Selvagens Africanos ou Mabecos brigarem COM matilhas rivais da mesma espécie, e as vezes só param a briga q Geralmente é por território de Caça, até q de morte. Mas membros da mesma Matilha difícilmente brigam uns com os outros, nem mesmo por alimento. E na hora de escolher o novo Casal Chefes da Matilha quando os atuais estão já Velhos, que Sempre são dois o Macho e a Fêmea alfa, eles escolhem o Novo Casal líder, através de uma espécie de " votação " ou " Assembleia " mas uma vez esse tipo de Comportamento na hora de escolher os Novos Chefes sem Violência e Brigas sangrentas, só é vista nos Cães Selvagens Africanos. diferente de TODOS os outros Predadores, que é através de violentas e sangrentas brigas à disputa pela liderança, e muitas vezes até a morte. Como vemos em Todos os Predadores que Vivem em Grupos, Bandos, Clãs, matilhas e etc.. e de acordo com os Pesquisadores Os Mabecos tbm DECIDEM no " voto " a hora de sair para Caçar, a estratégia q será usada Caça, e qual presa vão Caçar. Isso É Simplesmente Incrível 🙂 Os Cães Selvagens Africanos são formidáveis amo eles♥️ a Nota triste é q o Mabeco, É o Predador Africano com Maior risco de extinção. e Como Sempre os MAIORES responsáveis pela AMEAÇA de extinção de uma espécie são os "seres humanos" mas Graças a Programas de preservação da espécie feita por pessoas de Bom Coração que se preocupam com os Animais, existem Hoje Cerca d 6 a 7 mil Cães Selvagens Africanos.

    That must be incredible. I dont think the dogs are annoyed. They are perhaps accustomed to seeing the two guys.
