Hi Hannah, Drastic times calls for drastic measures! So glad you were able to “save” your plates and die. I’m sure this is the meanest you ever get. It really gave you great service and hope your next one works well too. Thanks for sharing!!! Best Wishes, Rebecca in Australia
Hehe, yes, I don't get mean very often, but another commenter suggested "rage crafting" might be a good hobby for me and I think she's on to something 🤣
Thanks for the video. I used it to destroy my sidekick, which died with long plates and a long decorative strip die in it. I removed the black bottom, my hubby put on work gloves and help pull apart the two red sides, and then I removed the retainers for the gears, and then the smaller gears. This loosened things just enough to allow my hub to turn the larger gear (wearing the work gloves) to get the pieces out. Thanks for your help.
I have been happy with my Tim Holtz side kick. It pretty much looks like the same machine except brown. I did purchase it from Tuesday Morning as well a few years back.
I know this is a year old but I have to say you had me laughing . I have never seen a video like this before. I’m glad you were able to get your die out:) tfs:)
So sorry you lost your sidekick. It was quite funny watching you demo it, though! I have an Empress cutting machine and love it. Guess I'm too lazy to crank the dies through. Good luck on getting a new one and hopefully this won't happen again. By the way, you did get 10 years out of it and I'm sure you'll pay more than $20 for a replacement. Take care, Hannah.
My first sidekick broke like yours, so I bought another and that broke as well. Each lasted for a very long time. I replaced the second one with the small machine by Anna Griffin. That machine works well, but I think the BEST and my most favorite hand crank machine is the Diamond Press Marquis. I use it all the time.
I know this is an older video. I’m wondering. My Sidekick isn’t cutting as well as it should. I have to send the dies through many times. I even bought new plates. Can the rollers wear out? I’ve had mine a long time. By the way. I jammed my Vagabond 2 like that and had to get a hammer and chisel out. I was able to save everything.
Glad you were able to save your machine! I do think that they loosen up overtime, but a paper or card stock shim might be enough to keep your machine in good running order for a while longer.
The handle gear just got stripped. I've replaced the handle and gear mechanism in my big shot, but that was years ago and I don't know if they sell them any more. Also... I have now watched your video so, moot point!
I guess thats what has also happened to mine. It sounds like something is rattling around inside too. Any suggestions on how to fix it? How do I take this little booger apart? Hoping not to use sledge hammer. LOL

Glad you retrieved your dies, too!
Tuesday morning does have the small side kicks (Tim Holtz). I love mine. Good luck on you replacement adventure.
Thank you! I went to a few Tuesday Mornings with no luck before ordering one on Amazon.
Sis, no one can ever tell you that you don't love that teacup die. Glad you got it out.
😂
Well, you definitely got your moneys worth out of that!
For sure!! Still sad it’s gone, but I have an Empress now and couldn’t be happier!

I ended up getting the black Tim Holtz Sidekick :)

Thanks for the tip!
I love my electric Gemini Go. Looks to take about the same size plates.
This is on my list now. The Geminis look amazing!

I love mine.
Stampin’ Up! Has a small die machine designed to travel
Thanks, Linda! Stampin' Up has some really great stuff.
This happened to my sidekick machine a while ago I clamped my plates in a vice and leavered the sidekick gently off with a metal bar
SMART!!!

Haha, yes much too late to repair lol 😅

I'm so sorry for your sizzix 😢
Me too. I got a new one to replace it and is just isn't as good as the old one:/
“Rage Crafting” could be new hobby. Lol. Sorry for your loss. 😝.
Rage crafting should definitely be a thing! Too bad I was in a good mood that day. Why couldn't it have been when I was feeling grumpy 🤣
