As a teenager I went through at least FIVE watches BEFORE a SEIKO DIGITAL entered into my life. It lasted OVER 25 years!!! I was literally weeping when the jeweler (AND SEIKO FACTORY REPS TOO!) told me they couldn't fix it. I've STILL got it tucked away in a drawer out of respect for it and the memories it brings back each time I look at it. BEST, MOST DURABLE WATCH I EVER WORE! THANK YOU SEIKO!
I have a full week with mine which I only worn once as I have a heavy rotation of watches, at first glance upon receiving it I sad to myself cool watch, under the 10X loupe and inspecting the timepiece closely I have to say that it's a beautiful watch, a keeper for me. The movement has settled in to 3-4 seconds a day and I believe it might do 1-2 as my other 6L35 in my SJE073. 3.3K might seem like a lot but the watch follows the less is more approach and design, materials and workmanship is great. A truly unique and original design.
Was at my AD today and saw this watch. I knew I had to have it. It will be my 30th birthday gift for me in October. My AD is holding it for me until then so I can pay it outright in October.
Sweet! Grats in advance. This one from the video sold and Canada only got 11 units so Seiko Canada is on the lookout for me for 1. I hope they come through because I let this slip through my fingers and I'm regretting it.
@@EscapementWatch did it work out for you? I don't know what it is with Seiko but I am even willing to pay 1800€ for an SPB281 how do they do that because it is far too expensive for that watch... I just ordered one new for $1,900, no tax. I am glad I didn't pay $3,300. $1,900 is a fair price for this watch. Beautiful watch, solid movement, beautiful finishing and gorgeous design.

Oh man, why did you have to do that! Was keeping an eye out for the SLA043 on the 2nd hand market. Then I saw the short video for this (SJE043) and instantly fell in love with the vintage dressy look, the boxed sapphire glass and the grey sunburst dial. Wow impressed by your knowledge of Seiko, a lot of watch TH-camrs don't know this stuff. There was actually another accuracy competition in 1968, can't remember the exact name, but basically the Swiss pulled the plug on it when it became clear they were going to lose to Seiko with their 45 Caliber 36,000 vph movement. I've got 2 Seiko dress watches, a Grand Quartz 4843-8110 from 1977 & a King Seiko 4502-7000 from 1968. I would probably get an original KS44 over the reissue, no date & buying a good example & getting it serviced would still be a lot cheaper than buying the new version, cheers
yes in 1968 I mentioned seiko went to Genève competition. 67 was the last year of the observatory chronometer test. Nice watches you got there. Yes original is cheaper and a great option.
@@EscapementWatch Thankyou, the competition I was thinking of was the Neuchatel Observatory chronometer trails, this was held until 1968 as far as I'm aware when the swiss took their ball & went home rather than lose to Seiko. Seiko then took the same movement s & entered the Geneva competition in the same year & took all the top places for Mechanical movements as you stated in your video.
it's a very beautiful and stunning watch which carried along history of itself all the way back from the 60s. With seiko recently started to introduce more king seiko version with lower end caliber, this piece is definitely a collector piece.

Really appreciate the support and thank you for watching the episode. Sometimes we do not connect with watches and it is okay to sell it everyone is different.
It seems dress watches just don’t sell like the sport pieces do these days, so this beautiful vintage styled dress piece has been no exception (which is a good thing for me). And because this model isn’t highly sought after at the moment, I got a lightly used one for a trade of my SPB187 and 1200$ cash! I’m one who values a small, but nice collection and this KSK along with my 3861 Speedmaster will be my main daily watches going forward. Keep up the great work on these videos man! You’re one of my favorite reviewers!
Yes I think Seiko made a bit too many of these. Should have been 1000 units or 2000. But they just released this same watch with yellow gold indices at 1700 units. So maybe they adjusted the demand. Grats on the watch. Will hopefully review the new affordable versions in the future.

@@EscapementWatch Yep, exactly and thanks! I’ve had mine since 2019 when the hype was real for the black one. I managed to get one from an AD after a couple weeks of asking. My regular AD wanted a full deposit and it was a 6 month plus wait.
Is the actual side profile of this watch Zaratsu polishing--actually distortion free like Grand Seiko. I am not sure based on many videos i have watched, have you tried playing around and verifying if that is the case? Please let me know, even Seiko marketing state the lugs are zaratsu polished, but made no mention of entire case.
First time on the channel and curious about his Tudor rant. The MT5612 is a very good movement. So good that Breitling is using it in exchange for their chrono movement. I guess it must be one of the old ETA movements.
Had one in hand on Friday, great watch! Just waiting for seiko to have it available in a different dial color. Already have four watches with same dial color.
Nope, This is King Seiko, it won't have other color, even it has, it won't be under King Seiko series, it would be in other name, which might resemble but far from this Reissue. Same as 62mas and SPB series. So if you wait to get other color, it will be a lesser series or diff series totally.
I am debating between spending a pretty penny in a King Seiko SJE083 or a more affordable Seiko Skyliner in good condition. I know these are somehow different watches, and we have the old dilema between modern and vintage watches. Any advice? So far, I am leaning towards the Skyliner, it looks great in pictures and won’t break my bank. By the way, you videos are great.
The sje083 is far superior in fit and finish over the skyliner. But the skyliner is a nice watch no doubt. Are you in Canada I'm selling an sje083 and vintage 56ks if your interested.
Great review. It's nice to get more insight into the brand itself and their movements. The watch itself is very elegant and sublte! So far my dress watches are all vintage pieces (quartz 80s constellation, GS45208000 and Tissot from my grandfather). I was seriously considering this KS as my next purchase but atm I am looking for a nice caseback display watch.
OMG , that Blue Willy 😳 Yes the KSK is truly Beautiful. I think the Sport version is the 62MAS. This New KSK is good lookin, I like all the details in it, front and back. This is going to be a limited edition KSK episode. Congrats capturing this video.
- oh, while you’re there, here’s a question. If one bought one of these, would it be foolish, rather than to keep it locked up in a collection, to wear it daily the rest of one’s natural? Make it a ‘constant companion’ watch rather than a ‘hoarded in a drawer forever’ watch?
What are your thoughts on the latest, more affordable, non-limited King Seiko reissue line release? I would love if you could do a video on that entire line!
This KS is such an amazing tribute timepiece to a well respected branch of Seiko. Curious, assume your planning on wearing this are you going to swap out the LE strap for something more daily friendly?
I really like the original strap. It is really comfy and soft even one the first time wearing it. So for now no. But possibly dress it down in the future. I have no idea with what tho.
I love this one, but the price kept it out of reach as I just can’t justify $3300 for a dress watch. Two years on, my AD has two unsold that they moved to their clearance page listed at $1900. After a bit of back and forth (and a strong purchase history with them) and they let me have it for $1700, or just $50 more than half price. At what I paid it was a no-brainer, and is now one of my favorite watches.
Yeah I was very surprised that the demand for King Seiko is so low. So they basically have to give them away. Which is good for the fans who really want one congrats. My authorized dealer cover jeweler doesn't even carry the normal King seiko's the lower tiered ones because they just don't sell but maybe in the future he will they keep pumping out new models
Man, such a cool watch! Best review I've seen. And you speak the truth about the Chew-duh rip! But, the King... Tanaka-San was a genius - far more so than Genta. The finish on this is at GS level and the movement is fine. It took me a while to get to the bottom of this movement, as Seiko keeps a bit Scotch about it. It was originally a Credor movement, then sold to Soprod as a 2892 drop in alternative, to become the A10, then it's had a few minor tweaks and name changes to what we have here. Great to see Seiko releasing non-divers at the same quality as the SLA re-issues. So, GS finish, Tanaka design, 2892 level movement at $3k? On natural finish croc? That says value to me - try getting that at Breitling, IWC or Chew-duh! And it will hold value. Pleased to say mine is in-coming! Dude, really you should!
Um most Tudors use in house movements now. The only ones that don’t are under $3k. Even those ones use top grade quality ETA/Sellita movements which are higher finished and regulated to COSC level of accuracy. The Tudor name and brand still holds a lot of weight in horology and they are finished really well so it makes sense what they cost. Just saying, know your facts before hatin 🤷♂️
🌎Worlds 🌎not a fair place cannot have a non European company winning 😉 So it has to be European 🇪🇺 Think about Japanese motorbikes have taken over . 🤔Plus still like my Seiko watches. Great video
Lovely and informative take, and the watch itself is stunning! Though the hatched 12o'clock index looks good, it does feel out if place just a tad bit because no other indices are similarly hatched. One question - it would have been much appropriate if this watch had King Seiko mentioned instead of Seiko at the 12 o'clock position like GS does. Any reason why it is not so? It would also result in a cleaner dial.
Dude, all your questions and your opinions will be answered if you google, king seiko 44-9990. This video already said, it is a faithful recreation. RECREATION. And no, the 12 o’clock marker is NOT out of place at all. That is signature of King Seiko duh!
no seiko should be at the top. KING seiko and Grand seiko were always and should always be at the bottom as a sub brand for seiko. but they changed it recently because of north america customers can't pay more then 10 dollars for a seiko. they need the word grand somehow on top! the dial is still hella CLEAN!
It would be hard for me to pick this or the SBGW231 but I might go with this one for the more interesting dial and having a date window. Plus you can find it for $2,500 now vs $3,500+ for the GS.
This is a collector's item. I have paid mine for a month in advance, and, my dealer still haven't got the watch yet. No discount. Even all my GS, l get very good regular client discount, but, not this one. According to my dealer, though, he is not certain, this is another one off like the 1st reissue. Bro, what's the ref for the 1st reissue? I couldn't find it. Yes, even my 36.5mm vintage ksk does have a good wrist presence, similar to the 57GS. I like it a lot.
Enjoy it mate. It's a gorgeous watch. A special piece too, perfect collectors piece as you said. I can't see Seiko making a habit of KS re-issues; even in small numbers for enthusiasts. I reckon they'd be concerned about confusion as they're working so hard on building the GS brand. Congrats on your purchase.
Yes, Falling, l wouldn't miss this historical piece. Same for the 59' Alpinist reissue sben001 and the lower end spb245. I will check out the scvn001. Tks s
This video is old and my stance on ETA has softened a bit over the years as long as you can get it used for at least 30-40% off. Example: New Breitling Super ocean uses a Sellita SW200 for $5300 USD! that is a crazy high price even tho cosc certified.
I hate grand seiko, but this king seiko is interesting Edit: rather then hate, I would say dislike, the movements are gorgeous but the design are just not my thing
'The people who get one of these are so lucky', you say. No, not lucky; rich. They will suck up 3000 pieces in a moment. Have to say that Seiko are losing a lot of longtime fans with their prices and manipulative marketing.
Not really. Yes the price has increased, but trust me, you need to be both lucky and rich to get this. You want cheaper seikos? They have other variants for you. A cheap KSK? In your dreams maybe. This KSK during 1960s is a premium flagship already. You want the KSK? Pay for it, be it vintage or new.
The 6L35 movement in these limited edition ones definitely makes the price worth it. I’m frustrated that the non limited versions have a 6R31 movement for a price of 1700. The finishing is great but is it worth the price for that movement? Idk 6R31 is basically the 6R35 without the date. In other news have you seen the special edition king Seiko with the purple dial? 😍 so beautiful might but that for my birthday lol the dial justifies the price.
This one would have been sold out if it was an 8L. $3300 for a 6L that is easily obtainable in watches at $1000 represents a challenge in my opinion. It’s the only issue holding me back from an otherwise excellent and nostalgic revival.
People feel it is still too much. Although Seiko uses this base calibre in Credor watches which is their highest tier brand. Mine is regulated on my wrist doing 0.4seconds a day with strong amplitude. A fantastic movement. These are selling for 2200usd used right now. In 5-10 years may increase but we will have to wait and see.
yep in the video I did mention its kinda high....but I do feel its worth it for the history. the rarity once they disappear for good in 5 years and the high quality movement and finish.
Not true. a ton of different watches each one will be limited but they'll make a different version of it so you can have it in your own colorway and that one will be limited too but for King's Seiko it's extra limited because they only make it once every 20 years and maybe never again. I had a couple people email me last week for the 62 Mass 1700 units made we can't find any of them in the warehouse or from Seiko to order they're all at the ads that got allocated there's tough to find they're Limited.

Nope, This is King Seiko, it won't have other color, even it has, it won't be under King Seiko series, it would be in other name, which might resemble but far from this Reissue. Same as 62mas and SPB series. So if you wait to get other color, it will be a lesser series or diff series totally.
@@ocb05 I totally understand what you're saying but I just can't justify buying another watch with that dial.
The last King Seiko reissue was made 21 years ago in the year 2000.
*the bank and *your videos ;-)
I’m located in the U.S. I still need time to decide. But, I would be interested in knowing the price of the sje083 if it works for you. Thanks
Great review. It's nice to get more insight into the brand itself and their movements. The watch itself is very elegant and sublte! So far my dress watches are all vintage pieces (quartz 80s constellation, GS45208000 and Tissot from my grandfather). I was seriously considering this KS as my next purchase but atm I am looking for a nice caseback display watch.
nice collection of dress watches!
OMG , that Blue Willy 😳
Yes the KSK is truly Beautiful. I think the Sport version is the 62MAS.
This New KSK is good lookin, I like all the details in it, front and back.
This is going to be a limited edition KSK episode. Congrats capturing this video.
It sure is!
Theoretically could one attain the piece with the serial number corresponding to one’s birth year? I’m in Japan - would love to find ‘1982’ . . .
Mostly impossible
@@EscapementWatch - I’d wager it’s still sitting in some department store like Bic Camera or Seibu . . . 🤣
Which Twodoor models have a known issue please?
any with a base bb41 ETA 2824 can have that issue. the tudor gmt has a date wheel issue.
Great vid, like always. Keep it up :D (wrote this after intro) **Edit** OMG THE CRYSTAL! Holy smokes!
ahah thanks man! Yea this watch is something else!
What are your thoughts on the latest, more affordable, non-limited King Seiko reissue line release? I would love if you could do a video on that entire line!
Coming soon!
@@EscapementWatch I can’t wait. To be honest, I already bought one, but I’ll wait for you video to see which you choose.
Great review, are the lugs 20mm or 19mm?
20mm on new one. 19mm on old one.
@@EscapementWatch Thank you, by old you mean the original from the 60s?
@@payatavassoli7048 correct!
Che Spettacolo👏🏽
I have the SJE073 Baby GS Snowflake as my go to dress watch.
Me too😄
Me three, lol.
@@josevasquez1781 outstanding watch!
I love this Watch, and I have ordered one by my Jewellery, I will get the Watch in April 👍😘
congrats on the historic timepiece epic purchase!
@@EscapementWatch thank you 🙏
Instagram might have more of the rant uploaded. Not sure for a 24hr story. lol
140 YEARS?... WOW! I had NO idea SEIKO went that far back?!!! No wonder they're so reliable and tough.
素晴らしい動画をどうも有難う‼
Yup! Gasoline (PREMIUM) was 25Cents/gallon in '65!!!
She's a beaut.
Great points here, mine is also on the road!
@@Sef211 Mine's now on the wrist - you won't be disappointed! From the box to the wrist, this is an exceptional watch!
28800 vph ? or 21600 vph
I owned the BB58 and later bought KSK. Quality on KSK is way far better.
In the world of horology, Tudor are nobodies. Zero real innovation.
Yes, Seiko Japan good ,China Japan number one
YEA BOI
🌎Worlds 🌎not a fair place cannot have a non European company winning 😉
So it has to be European 🇪🇺
Think about Japanese motorbikes have taken over . 🤔Plus still like my Seiko watches.
Great video
Hoping they replaced the plastic part for a metal one
Love it more and more but can't justify the price right now. So I guess I'll miss out.
I think all 3000 are not yet built so more might come to market in 6 months or more.
KING seiko and Grand seiko were always and should always be at the bottom as a sub brand for seiko. but they changed it recently because of north america customers can't pay more then 10 dollars for a seiko. they need the word grand somehow on top! the dial is still hella CLEAN!
great review...daini - actually pronouced "die knee". :-)
sometimes my mouth doesn't say what my brain commands! I'm working on the name pronouncing.
Same here. Paid the full amount and it is not in yet. Malaysia here. You?
@@ocb05 hei, same here, bro
I knew you would buy one Canon! I said it in the video. i believe scvn001! its smaller 36.6mm i believe.
Tks s
How much do you want to send me the 25 full minutes rant on the 2824-2 on luxury watches? I’ll pay to hear that!
This video is old and my stance on ETA has softened a bit over the years as long as you can get it used for at least 30-40% off. Example: New Breitling Super ocean uses a Sellita SW200 for $5300 USD! that is a crazy high price even tho cosc certified.
Great video, but you gotta learn the pronunciation : Daini → “dye knee” Dai = literally a number order and ni = 2 , so “Second Seiko Company”.
I will work on it! I always mess up other language words. unless im fully focused i still call longine.... long jeans! lol
what's a Logal?
I hate grand seiko, but this king seiko is interesting
Edit: rather then hate, I would say dislike, the movements are gorgeous but the design are just not my thing
Fair enough we all can't like the same things
'The people who get one of these are so lucky', you say.
No, not lucky; rich. They will suck up 3000 pieces in a moment.
Have to say that Seiko are losing a lot of longtime fans with their prices and manipulative marketing.
Not really. Yes the price has increased, but trust me, you need to be both lucky and rich to get this. You want cheaper seikos? They have other variants for you. A cheap KSK? In your dreams maybe. This KSK during 1960s is a premium flagship already. You want the KSK? Pay for it, be it vintage or new.
They are not losing anything, I just bought my second one. This thing is a classic.
By the way things seem, Seiko is doing better than ever. There are still plenty of affordable models to be had.
Great watch but to small
Sorry, but mine won't see a collectors, glass front cabinet. It's on my wrist, where this watch belongs.
No the collectors wear it. I mean that once it hits a true Seiko collectors box they don't sell it. of course they wear it.
We have seen it and it may appear on the channel in the future
😍😍😍😍😍
Very nice piece but not for me. I will move on and get some other Seikos. Great content Bro !
Understandable
This one would have been sold out if it was an 8L. $3300 for a 6L that is easily obtainable in watches at $1000 represents a challenge in my opinion. It’s the only issue holding me back from an otherwise excellent and nostalgic revival.
No 6L is not in 1000 dollar watches. You are thinking of 6R35. They are completely different movements and worlds apart.
@@EscapementWatch Ah you are correct indeed, apologies. Then I wonder why such a beautiful watch is a dud.
Certina Bristol 235
Kinda pricey, no ?
Rolex is cheap then?
yep in the video I did mention its kinda high....but I do feel its worth it for the history. the rarity once they disappear for good in 5 years and the high quality movement and finish.
Great reissue but not worth 4k, and that limited edition.. come-on if everything you make is limited edition then nothing is 🤣
Not true. What is true is you'll never see one of these watches after they land in seikopaths collections. sounds limited to me.
@@EscapementWatch what I meant if everything your making is a limited edition then nothing is special about any of the products 🤔
Not true. a ton of different watches each one will be limited but they'll make a different version of it so you can have it in your own colorway and that one will be limited too but for King's Seiko it's extra limited because they only make it once every 20 years and maybe never again.
I had a couple people email me last week for the 62 Mass 1700 units made we can't find any of them in the warehouse or from Seiko to order they're all at the ads that got allocated there's tough to find they're Limited.
50m wr is a joke on a 3000 dollar watch
