Propane grill regulator leaking? Watch this before you buy a new one.

  • I was all set to buy a brand new propane regulator for my Weber gas grill, but found out that it was the tank that was actually causing the problem.
    If you were having the same problem, I would recommend trying a different tank first before buying a new regulator.
    Hopefully this will help save you a little time and money.

    I tried everything to find the compatible regulator and hose to fix the leaking issue but didn't help. I just exchanged the propane from the store and tried. It worked. Thanks to this gentleman for this simple solution. Note, I didn't pay for the faulty propane cylinder replacement.

    I thought it was the regulator,but I wasn't sure the tank wasn't the problem. When I saw that the tank can be the problem, that's what I checked first. Turns out the tank is faulty.

    Simple Mario but very effective. After replacing the regulator and hose from Weber the issue was there. I should have watch this video before replacing the regulator and hose. Thank you!

      At least you have a new regulator now, so if any other issues pop up, you know it’s probably not that. Thank you for watching. Happy Grilling!

    I'm an American in Thailand, and my Weber grill is from the States, so the Thai regulators are different here, so when my regulator did exactly as you described, I was like, "Oh hell!" To make a long story short, I looked on TH-cam, and your video popped up, so I watched, then immediately ordered another gas bottle, and Yep! Sure enough, that was the problem. It's extremely expensive to have something shipped from the States, so thanks for posting.

      😂 Yeah, that’s my English Pointer, Dixie. She’s 16, has a bunch of lumps and bumps, with a few on her lungs. But she’s on meds and is VERY well taken care of, but she has a cough like someone with COPD. Otherwise she’s great and just keeps going. Thanks for watching and give your pup a few extra treats for us.

    It's usually just the little o-ring inside the valve starts getting old and dried out what I figured out is a quick squirt of vinegar will almost completely restore the rubber and then just make sure it's dry and cleaned up on both male and female ends and boom no leak

      It's crazy I've been a forklift operator for the last good part of a decade and just always grabbed a new tank but when it's past midnight on a Friday night and all you wanna do is grill your chicken and such 😂 you figure out what's wrong real quick

      Let me know how it works out for you. Hopefully it’s just the tank and not the regulator. But sometimes it is. You should also contact the manufacturer of the grill and explain what’s up. Maybe they can help you out.

    What do I do after buying a new tank? Is there anyway to transfer the gas in the old tank to the new one or what do I do with the one's that is leaking. Sorry I have no knowledge to propane tank at all, and I have the same problem, and I'm afraid it might leak out on its own and it could burn my house down or something, cuz I live by myself and my pets, so my pets are basically by themselves when I'm at work.

    • @rideandgrill
      @rideandgrill  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Thanks for your question. Just note, I am not an expert on propane. If you are unsure about its safety, I would recommend contacting your local propane company for advice. If your new tank is the kind that you exchange instead of refill, take it to the exchange station and have them give you a different one. If you have a tank that you have to refill at a propane fill station, then I would take it to them and have them test it for you. Sometimes it’s just missing a small washer and that may cause it to leak. Until you figure it out I would recommend not keeping the tank hooked up to your grill. Make sure it is closed all the way and keep it away from your home until you can figure out what’s going on. Good luck and let me know what happens.

    Good save. Not sure why I didn’t think to do that. However now burners seem to be weak? Bad burners , regulator?

    • @rideandgrill
      @rideandgrill  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Try turning the gas off at the tank, then turn the burners on at the grill to purge the line. Then shut off the grill burner again and turn your tank on slowly (make sure your burners are in the off position) . Now try lighting the grill like normal. See if that helps.

    when i'm grilling, all of a sudden a flame is shooting up from my regulator , i put the flame out with a towel, any ideas it is inconsistent, i never know so i watch. should i replace the regulator ?

    • @rideandgrill
      @rideandgrill  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’m not an expert, so I would recommend calling a local propane supplier and see what they say. I also would not use the grill until you figure out what’s wrong. You don’t want to play around, a propane explosion is really really bad. You can also contact the grill manufacture and explain what’s happening. Either way, do not use it until it’s fixed.

  • @hcarducci
    @hcarducci ปีที่แล้ว

    What do you do with the bad tank full of gas?

    • @rideandgrill
      @rideandgrill  ปีที่แล้ว

      If it’s a tank from a propane exchange like Rhino, just bring it back to wherever you got your last exchange and let them know that the tank is defective and it leaks. They should give you another one (provided that it’s still full). If it’s your own tank, then you’ll have to buy another one. But bring If to a propane place and they may give you credit for the gas that’s in there. They can extract it from the bad tank into one of their storage tanks.

  • @joeschmoe2659
    @joeschmoe2659 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    Just curious… why does the propane tank cause this?

    • @rideandgrill
      @rideandgrill  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sometimes it’s a missing or rotted rubber washer, sometimes is worn threads. And sometimes it is actually the regulator. But I’m glad it was just the tank it worked out for you.
