  • After growing up as a 6th generation Mormon, Charity had a question pop into her mind that kept her up at night: "Don't you want to know, that you know, that you know, that what you believe is truth because you've tried it against everything?"
This nagging question sent her on a diligent search to find out if what she believed was true. Jeremiah 29:13 says "And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart." KJV. See what Charity found after she set out to seek the truth with all her heart.

I, too, am a former Mormon who rejoices EVERY DAY that when I truly asked God to open my mind to truth, He led me to whom He REALLY is! ...which led me to uncover all the lies, the holes, and the inversions the LDS church purports to be true. My walk with Jesus Christ has become personal for the first time in my life. The TRUE gospel and love of Jesus Christ is not boxed in by the impenetrable walls of RELIGION. We, the body of Christ, are His Church as he refers in the New Testament. Thank you for sharing your story! I share the feedom of it with you!

Mormons desecrate the body and blood of Jesus Christ at the end of every Sunday service, by throwing the 'left over' bread and water, which has just been 'blessed and sanctified', into the trash, as mormon leaders smile and talk of the goodness of the LDS church.
In comparison, an old worn out pair of garments will first have the freemasonic symbols respectfully removed before disposing the garment.
The BOM Trinitarian verse is 3 Nephi 11:36: "And thus will the Father bear record of me, and the Holy Ghost will bear record unto him of the Father and me; for the Father, and I, and the Holy Ghost are one".

Her journey explains how she seen cracks within Mormonism, but what of those that convert to Mormonism that were previously ‘Christian’ because they seen cracks within their own belief system that did not completely connect all the dots. they claim they have a more peaceful life and a closer relationship to their savior by doing so. And we can’t say they were deceived or they were manipulated. There is a lot of good converted Mormons from Christianity that are not stupid, dumb or ignorant. They seen corruption in their own Christian church, corruption in their leaders. At the end, we’re all anticipating Christ return. Then the truth will finally be settled!

It may be useful for me to share that I had studied the earliest Christian church and the writings of its "fathers", as well as the development of "orthodox" Christianity (ie, trinitarian) through the influence of Neo Platonism and other forms of philosophy who muddied all the water and set the Church on a track of not understanding who God truly is. Thanks a pantload, St. Augustine!

    • @Revolution_Films
      @Revolution_Films  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Biblical Christianity follows the teachings of the Bible and it's authority as God's Word, and does not consider the teachings of "church fathers" as scripture. Christian theology is based on what the Bible teaches alone. The New Testament was written at least 200 years before Neoplatonism even came to be, so that had no opportunity to muddy the waters of Christian theology as derived from the Bible.
The opposite is true of the Book of Mormon, which was written ~1800 years after the New Testament, giving plenty of time for theology to be corrupted, and which contains theology that is very different from the Biblical scriptures.
The sheer magnitude of copies of the original texts of the Bible prove that it is trustworthy and accurate, whereas there are no original texts of the Book of Mormon to be found from which to compare. As well as no historical or archaeological evidence for any of the peoples or events written about in it, again opposed to the Bible, from which many extra-Biblical historical records and archaeological sites can attest.
We encourage you to check out this video comparing evidence for the Book of Mormon and the Bible and their prophets.

If it saddens you SOMETHING is amiss in YOU. Why? Cuz she hungered for the truth, she thirsted to know what it was. She risked it ALL to know that she knows. Now if you can't SEE that, and are sad that she did the WORK for herself without any coercion to SATISFY her questions and her longings, then that is about YOU. She said ok, I need to research, despite her background FROWNING on that. She wanted to put herself on a firm foundation she could stand on. She didn't find that in her religion. That is her going about HER journey and testifying what she did to find that firm foundation that she could give a witness of. You can disagree, but this is her walk, her journey and REJOICE that she found the information she needed to fulfil HERSELF and answer her questions. Faith is personal, to describe her journey should NOT sadden anyone, as it isn't about YOU. Maybe you found something different, OK, be adult enough to AGREE to disagree. She is happy where she is, and is telling HER story. You can get on here and tell yours, but base it on YOUR encounters, not in reaction to someone else's. I have a few genuine questions here. It's clear that this woman has gone through the deconstruction process of the Mormon faith, and found herself at mainstream Christianity at the end of that process. But, what about the people who start their deconstruction process with Mormonism or standard Christianity, but end the process at atheism or agnosticism? Are those peoples' experiences less valid? I also know someone who went from being a Quaker, to an evangelical Christian, to a Mormon. Is that person's experience less valid? Everyone claims that they have found spiritual truth at the end of their spiritual journeys...so how can we know for sure which is correct because everyone has lengthy arguments for why they believe what they believe?
Personally, I agree with her reasons for leaving Mormonism. Joseph Smith was a literal con man, and there is so much toxicity in Mormon culture that psychologically traumatizes people. But I also understand that many people who leave evangelical Christianity have similar trauma. I believe all religious trauma is valid. So my own Christian take is that I want to follow Jesus as my example, and love everyone unconditionally regardless of where they are in their spiritual journey. Religions are our imperfect attempts at understanding the divine, and I don't think any faith gets it perfect. I think God is big enough to handle our critical thinking and our doubts. I think God is capable enough to find us in whatever faith system we find ourselves in. Limiting God to any one belief system is putting God in a box. But since we are finite beings, I don't think anyone can have a full understanding of a divine infinite being. God has given us the capacity for both faith and reason...I think God would want us to use both in our spiritual journeys.

I hear a genuine, if confused, seeker here. Good for you. The answer is not in listening to other people. The answer is getting to know God as He really is: both the God of mercy & the God of wrath.
You can only get to know Him by getting into His Word.
Start w/ Genesis 1-11 to understand creation & that there was nothing there before-only God/the Trinity. Then go to John to understand Jesus better. The letters of Paul are for the church. But you first have to know Jesus & understand the Triune God.
All will settle into place if you start there.
Don’t look for outward answers. Go straight to God’s account of Himself. You will NOT find Him to be a God who accepts every way or religion. Yes, He wants everyone to come to Him, but He has only made 1 way! That is offensive to so many-esp. in our culture today. But God has the right to say how you belong to Him & He has made it clear in His Word. We are the ones who try to add or subtract; to To make it fit how we think….

    • @Revolution_Films
      @Revolution_Films  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

Great questions, thank you for being respectful. We agree with many of your points, in particular that God is big enough to handle our critical thinking and doubts, that God wants us to use both faith and reason in our spiritual lives, and that we should love everyone regardless of where they are in their spiritual journey.
As far as how to know which faith is correct, that is a big and important question. Laws of logic tell us that not all religions can be true, as they contradict each other and two contradicting things cannot both be true simultaneously. So how do you know which to believe? One cannot just have wishful thinking and believe that your heart will confirm which is true. Jeremiah 17:9 tells us that, "The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?"
One way to determine which faith is true is to consider the evidence. Historical evidence, archaeological evidence, evidence outside of people who follow that particular faith, reliability of ancient texts, fulfilled prophecy, etc. All of which Christianity has in abundance, and after countless hours researching the evidence, and comparing other religions, we choose to follow Christ because we actually believe the Bible is true and is the Word of God. As such, following Jesus is the only way to be saved, no other faith or lifestyle can lead to God. Jesus himself taught that, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." John 14:6. Two incredible books that provide vast amounts of evidence to the validity of Christianity are "Evidence that Demands a Verdict" by Josh McDowell and "The Case for Christ" by Lee Strobel.
What makes Christianity so different from every other religion is that all others have things you have to do to be good enough or to earn your reward from the higher power. On the contrary, the Bible tells us that we are all in sin, the wages of that sin is death, and there is nothing we can do to earn salvation. Because he loved us so much and wanted to make a way for us to be saved, as God, Jesus, came to earth and lived a sinless life, died a sacrificial death to pay the price for our sins, and reconciled us to God. Then he rose from the dead and ascended to Heaven and will return again to judge the living and the dead. Salvation is a free gift of grace for all those who would choose to accept it, turn from their sins and follow Christ.
This website is a great resource answering many tough questions that skeptics of Christianity often ask, and helps to answer what kinds of evidence we have for believing the Bible, among many other topics. www.josh.org/resources/apologetics/answering-skeptics/

@@Revolution_Films Thank you for your thoughtful response. Just a warning that I have a lot to say, so I will split this into parts, lol.
      Part 1:
I got my degree in philosophy, so I spent quite a bit of time learning about sound logic and logical fallacies. I have heard the argument about how if not all religions can be true, then only one can be true because they contradict each other. Couple of logical issues with this. First the premise of your argument must be logically sound before building on that argument. To use a biblical reference, you can’t build your foundation on sand, you must build it on firm ground. Because the house could be perfectly constructed, but if it’s built on sand, none of that matters because it will eventually collapse or sink. So, the argument that not all religions can be true and therefore only one religion can be true is logic built on sand. It is a gross oversimplification to claim that not all religions can be true. We can see that it is much more nuanced than that. There can logically be *more than one* possible truth. Yes, we could probably find a few cults where their beliefs are 100% not true. But if we are talking major world religions and indigenous religions, my studies have shown me that there is some degree of truth and wisdom in every single one (some more than others). So we cannot make the absolutist claim that all the other religions are 100% false because Christianity is 100% true. So the premise of the argument breaks down right there. There is also the logical problem of black and white thinking (aka. The either/or fallacy)...it must be this OR that...no in-between. Most empirical evidence shows us that there is almost nothing in this world that is consistent 100% of the time. Given the nature of our ever-changing and imperfect world, we cannot claim anything is perfectly this or that. So we cannot say that Christianity is absolutely true and that every single other religion is absolutely wrong. If you take any significant amount of time to study the world’s religions and get to know some of the people who practice them, it becomes clear pretty quickly that all of them get some things right and some things wrong.
To address the argument that there is irrefutable evidence that the Bible is true and the inerrant, inspired word of God...and therefore we can take everything in the Bible at perfect face value...and therefore because the Bible says it’s true and inerrant in every way. We must address the logic of the premise of this argument again. Let’s break this argument down into its simplest form: The Bible says it’s true, divinely inspired, and inerrant...therefore the Bible IS true, divinely inspired, and inerrant. This is a classic example of the circular argument fallacy. You first have to prove from sources outside of the Bible itself that this is a valid premise for your argument. So you say there are external sources with historical and archeological evidence. It is indeed true that there is historical and archeological evidence that the original texts of the Bible did exist. I don’t think anyone questions that. But we cannot make the enormous illogical jump from “there is empirical evidence that the texts of the Bible existed” to “because they exist, the content of those text are therefore 100% divinely inspired, inerrant, and perfectly true. There is evidence that Dr. Seuss wrote an enormous collection of texts for children. We don’t therefore conclude that because they exist, every single one of the stories he wrote is about actual events that took place in the world. Even if Dr. Seuss himself had written in his texts that his words were divinely inspired, inerrant, and historically accurate...we would say he was insane because there is no evidence outside of his own texts that the Cat In The Hat or Thing 1 and Thing 2 are real-life historical figures. What we do know from historical documents preserved from the early church (a source outside of the Bible itself) is that the books that are in the Bible were chosen by a group of bishops in the early church called the Coucil of Nicaea, appointed by Constantine. This council (of fallible humans) convened around 325 AD in present-day Turkey to officially choose which texts to put in the Bible and which to leave out, and to establish “official” Christian doctrine. During these meetings, they established the doctrines of the holy trinity, and the concept that Jesus was God-incarnate. The books they chose to leave in the Bible were the ones that supported these declarations, the ones they threw out were the ones that did not support these declarations. So, ultimately, it was a group of humans that determined all of these things.

      Part 2:
This leads us to the liar, lunatic, or Lord argument (which is in the link you provided). This is once again examples of the oversimplification and either/or fallacies. Sound logic tells us that there could be more than a clear-cut 3 options. Having read all the Gospels myself, I would agree that Jesus was not a liar. There is the possibility that Jesus was inspiried by God AND believed that he was God incarnate because of that. But there is also the possibility that even if he truly believed this about himself, him declaring it to be so does not mean he necessarily was. Yes, if someone were to declare in the modern day that they were Jesus incarnate (and actually many people through history have), they would actually think that person was a lunatic. But that is coming to that conclusion with our modern, scientific worldview. 2000 years ago, people had zero understanding of science, and most humans very much believed and many (now disproved) supernatural things. So the people living in that era would have been much more open to believing people when they made claims like that.
Humans are imperfect beings and there are countless historical figures who had world-changing ideas, but also had some imperfect aspects of their lives. Thomas Jefferson had a truly world-changing idea that his new country should be based on liberty and equality. But...he only meant that all white men with citizenship were equal and free. Other races, most especially black slaves, were exempt from this concept. It was even written in the original document of the Constitution that slaves only counted as 3/5 of a person. So...while the idea was a great one in theory, it was not actually implemented by most of the founding fathers since they were slave owners. In fact, they justified enslaving other humans with a whole slew of Biblical verses. (Thomas Jefferson even had a slave mistress with whom he fathered many children, and whose decendants still live today, proven through genetic research).
Speaking of which, there are countless verses in the Bible not only condoning slavery, but also condoning genocide, rape, incest, war, and violence (all things Jesus actively stood against). So I’m not seeing a whole lot of Biblical consistency or inerrancy here. It is chock full of contradictions and inconsistencies (I have read it and seen it for myself).
I could logically prove and disprove things about the Bible all day. But as Jane Goodall says, “science does not have the tools for the dissection of the spirit.” Faith is not something that can be proved logically. It is believing something even without empirical evidence. My personal faith and experience lead me to have faith that God exists, even though I can’t logically prove it. I have this faith because I have had many profound experiences of love and beauty that transcend this physical world. I have also had deeply spiritual experiences reading the words of Jesus. It is very evident to me that his teachings contained some profound world-changing Truths. There is wisdom in his teachings that does appear to transcend our flawed human tendencies when they are put into practice. There are a whole slew of incredible historical figures who put these teachings into practice with incredible results (loving and seeing the humanity in one’s enemies, loving all people without any exceptions, feeding and clothing the poor with no conditions, healing the sick, etc). The interesting thing is that many other religions have tought these same themes, or variations of them. There are whole books written putting the teachings of Jesus and Buddha side by side, and they are shockingly similar. For me, determining spiritual truth lies in seeing which of these teachings show up all over the world, in all different faiths, in all different eras. If these truths can transcend time, place, and cultural beliefs, I would say those are the things that are actually divinely inspired and are Truth with a capital T. Specific beliefs that stray from these consistent truths, tend to be more a product of the culture and context of the time any group of people was/is living in. And those things are flawed and human-derived.
All that said, all the “doctrines” of the Bible just shows us the context of the time and place they were written, and perhaps a glimpse of the character of the people who wrote them. My favorite idea for how to go about reading the Bible comes from Archbishop Desmond Tutu: If what you are reading aligns with the teachings of Jesus, it is much more likely to be divinely inspired. If what you are reading contradicts the teachings of Jesus, it is likely just the ideas of the person who wrote it, and must be read in the context of the time and culture in which it was written. That is a rule to reading the Bible that hasn’t failed me yet, and passes all the logic and common sense tests too.
Ultimately, I am only one person and I have a pretty myopic understanding of the universe compared to God. I think we all need to have enough humility to accept the limits of our vantage point compared to the vantage point of God. When any religion clings to human-made doctrines, things will inevitably go wrong (all we have to do is read world history to know that). I think trying to constrain God within a box of our own limited thinking and imagination is futile. I believe God will always be more than anything we can ever fully comprehend in this lifetime. To me, finding the trancendent truths that rise out of most human belief systems and living out those truths is the closest we can get to understanding the nature of God in this lifetime. Claiming to be the only true religion has caused way more harm through history than good. I think we can know if something is of God if it bears consistently good fruit, to reference Paul. That fruit can be born through all human cultures and eras. In other words, God is big enough and loving enough to meet every person on earth where they are and contort into all sorts of flawed human beliefs about him. So I think faith is entirely an individual journey for every person, and it is not up to me and my limited understanding of the universe to judge other people’s faith (as long as it is bearing good fruit). God is big enough to work out his relationship with every person on this planet without interference from me.
If you made it this far, thank you for reading my novel, lol. Godbless ❤

While we have researched Christianity and studied the Bible for decades, we do not claim to be theologians nor philosophers. We are Christian filmmakers, and as such, our time is better suited to creating more of these documentaries, so this will be our last comment on this thread. However, we do feel that it is necessary to address some of your claims to point out where they are misinformed so as to not lead others astray or cause them to question the validity of the Christian faith and the reliability of the Bible. We will address your accusations of circular reasoning and logical fallacies and then provide some resources for your further study to back up our claims.
Your claim that there can logically be more than one truth is itself a logical fallacy. The idea that only one faith can be true is actually logic built on one of the most fundamental logical laws in existence, the Law of Non-Contradiction, which states that contradictory propositions cannot both be true in the same sense at the same time. All major world religions are, in fact, totally contradictory to each other. In Matthew 12:30 (NKJV), Jesus says, “He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters abroad.” In John 14:6, He also says, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” Clearly, Christianity teaches that all other religions are false. And so does Mormonism. In 1 Nephi 14:10, Smith wrote, “Behold: there are save two churches only, the one is the church of the Lamb of God [speaking of Mormonism] and the other is the church of the devil; wherefore, whoso belongeth not to the church of the Lamb of God belongeth to that great church which is the mother of abominations; and she is the whore of all the earth.” In the Quran, chapter 3, verse 85, it says “Should anyone follow a religion other than Islam, it shall never be accepted from him, and he will be among the losers in the Hereafter.” A “neutral” position that holds that more than one religion can be true is impossible according to all these worldviews. Not only would a theoretical “middle ground” logically necessitate that all worldviews and religions other than a posture of neutrality would be false, and their holy books, upon which their entire belief system is based, blatantly false. This would re-create the same alleged fallacy of “either/or” you’ve accused this channel of making (either the neutral worldview is absolutely true or it’s absolutely false) resolving nothing. In order to accept all worldviews, you have to reject all worldviews but the supposedly neutral one you’ve chosen to take. This channel, in claiming that Christianity is true and other religions are false, did not commit a logical fallacy in any way, shape, or form, but held to a position that is logically inevitable.
On your accusation of circular reasoning, there are two forms of logical circles. The fallacious one is the vicious circle which relies on arbitrary and unnecessary assumptions. The virtuous circle, however, relies only on purely necessary and inevitable assumptions. Every worldview must rest on at least one major assumption, or ultimate standard of truth, upon which is built every other belief espoused by that worldview. One’s ultimate standard is the basis for his entire worldview, a standard that simply proves itself is far from enough - any rational ultimate standard must provide a means by which to prove everything mankind can know. It must be indispensably logically necessary to explain all these things. It must also be self-consistent and found to be justified after it is assumed. And the Bible is the ultimate standard through which we can do all these things. This article goes into more depth. biblicalscienceinstitute.com/apologetics/understanding-bahnsen/
Our claim that the Bible is true and inerrant is not solely based on historical and archaeological evidence. Obviously, there are multitudes of ancient texts that clearly existed but are not divinely inspired. One thing that makes the Bible different is the sheer amount of fulfilled prophecy that could only be divinely orchestrated. Professor Peter W. Stoner, a mathematician, worked out the likelihood of a 1st century person to fulfill just eight prophecies written in the Old Testament and said, “We find that the chance that any man might have lived down to the present time and fulfilled all eight prophecies is 1 in 1017.” On the conservative side, Jesus fulfilled over 300 prophecies written hundreds of years before his birth, which would be impossible if not divine in origin. The Bible was written by eyewitnesses, who willingly suffered and died for their belief that Jesus really was the Messiah, during the time of other eyewitnesses who could have denied what was written. But the extra-Biblical sources that exist actually confirm many accounts written of in the Bible rather than contradict them. th-cam.com/video/RebKd23Aaho/w-d-xo.htmlsi=dH536P8P8f1Clc52
Your Council of Nicaea claim is a common talking point for those wishing to discredit the Bible and is misinformed. The council actually met to discredit Arian heresy that was spreading and to confirm the truth of the nature of Christ as laid out in the already established books of scripture, which had been widely agreed upon and accepted as scripture at least 100 years before the council met. Here is a video that accurately explains how the books of the New Testament were selected, including sources and quotes from the early church proving this claim. th-cam.com/video/5hItK8IY-Us/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Pyx-_uJpAhwpOBBg
On the issue of slavery, again, this comes down to a misuse of the text of the Bible. Slavery at the time was widespread in the known world, and for the Hebrews, contrary to other nations of the day, was equivalent to indentured servitude - a contractual agreement between both parties, not what many think of as slavery in the South during the 1800’s. The Old Testament law actually calls for the death penalty for Hebrews who kidnapped someone - or even if you were caught with someone who had been kidnapped (Ex. 21:16), which was how all of more modern-day slavery began. When you look at the passages in context, the Bible does not endorse slavery, rather it applies regulations to protect the slave (servant) from abuse. Christianity was actually the impetus for the abolishment of slavery. This video explains in much more detail th-cam.com/video/l2q3fql-BlY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=OCKCHjGVpFtosLNF.
As far as supposed contradictions in the Bible, again, this is a misinterpretation of the text. There is a difference between a contradiction and a difference. There are cases, such as the testimonies of what happened at the empty tomb, where John says that Mary Magdalene discovered the empty tomb and Luke says the women found the tomb empty. This is not a contradiction, as both can be true at the same time. One author simply highlights the person who shared the information with the disciples, while the other noted all the others who were present as well. This is a great video that discusses how we can trust the Bible and has a segment around 23 minutes in that covers supposed contradictions. th-cam.com/video/tylSrhSwTJY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=KxlSwsUUsxli2NOO
At the end of the day, everyone has to decide for himself whether they believe the Bible is true or not. One cannot call himself a Christian and not believe the Bible. Likewise, one cannot pick and choose what pieces of the Bible he wants to believe in and throw out the rest. “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness.” 2 Timothy 3:16 “See to it that no one takes you captive by philosophy and empty deceit, according to human tradition, according to the elemental spirits of the world, and not according to Christ.” Colossians 2:8 We pray that everyone who takes the time to read this will do their own research giving them confidence that Christianity is a logical religion, and that the Bible is a reliable and accurate record of God’s truth to us, and the only source of our salvation. Thanks for reading and God bless!
