Hey Tom, just wanted to say thanks for all that you do man. On July 4th, 2018 I was 312lbs and on BP meds to regulate potential stroke levels at around 210/100 daily. I came across one of your videos and thought what the hell... ain't gonna hurt. I went on Keto cold turkey that day. This morning I weighed 238lbs and still losing, I've been off the BP meds since October, and now ranging from 128/82- 117/80 regularly. I gotta say bro... Thank you. You helped save my life. I did the challenge with you, Thomas. I'm a few days behind because I had to work out a meal plan first, but so far I've had a good experience. The bags under my eyes are fading. Acne is disappearing. Inflammation in my fingers has gone down. My BMs are more regular. My resting heart rate has gone down. I also find my mental state has changed. Thank you for doing this. I'm a vegan trying to create dialogue between animal eaters and vegans. The world is so divided, being divided based on your fuel source is like petrol lovers hating diesel lovers. I just wish we could all build a little tolerance. Love isn't showing those who agree with you kindness, it is serving even those who despise you, or who you disagree with. Share some love guys.

    • @ellasoriginalchannel9713

Eating animals is not same as ”loving diesel over gasoline”. Animals are living creatures just like humans. How about we show love for them.
I am an omnivore, but the metaphor is just so off.

    • @plantman4444
      @plantman4444 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

@@ellasoriginalchannel9713 To you, sure. I don't really care for your, "It's just X," rhetoric. You're using empathy as an argument to condemn and hate - that's strange. Human is also an animal, and so I suggest you stop projecting the parts of yourself you've not yet accepted onto others and forgive that you hold against yourself and deny by feigning righteousness over and through others. And all energy is the same, in terms of atoms it's literally the same; have you no empathy for the lepton or the proton?

Thank you! Those of us plant based over 50, we have issues with our weight even with swimming and walks daily. I will do standard organic meat to get quick weight off but go back to keto plant base. Key is not one shoe fits all - and each of us has to find the formula/receipes that can easily work for us. Thank you Thomas for your vegan keto test for many of us vegans do have weight issues - the older generation. What I'm learning from you is after the weight loss - I will do Vegan Keto - intermittently to be sure the weight stays off. There are so many vegans that can benefit from your test. Vegan Keto there is a huge demand - especially for women - a subject so immense and no one addressing this need.

Pumpkin seed protein, hemp protein are great sources of protein on a vegan keto diet. It's not an ultra-processed food, it's literally just cold pressed and powdered seeds. I know Thomas isn't a fan of soy, but it is a good source of protein for vegans (tofu, unsweet soy milk, tempeh, natto etc....). They even have soy free tofu now which is made from fava beans, it's also zero carb.
Seitan is also a good source of protein on a vegan keto diet, as it's high protein and low carb. Field roast imo makes the best seitan products. Lupin flour / flakes are keto friendly and also a great source of protein. You can use lupin flour to make indian dal, hummus, refried beans etc....
I want to try vegetarian keto, so I'm gonna include some organic kefir, skyr, hard cheeses, and eggs.

It is so ant-inflammatory that I first, just dropped my carbs in food only, I continued my love of beer which I have done for decades, trust me, it's a lot.
My inflammation and slight arthritic pain I get in my fingers went in 3 days.
Also that swelling look you get from retention of water in those, and other joints.
He does look a bit tired though, but I will trust his pinned comment for that reason, because 2 weeks ain't gonna change your appearance that much, especially when you know what's what like Thomas does.

I've been vegan for over 4 years and most of them a low fat (no processed fat) higher carb vegan. I stayed away from processed foods and ate very clean. I was always super active but have lived with RA (rheumatoid arthritis) since before going vega. Earlier this year I felt like I needed a reset and heard alot about how low inflammatory Keto was so I decided to try it.
In the first two weeks I dropped 13 lbs and I had NO pain in my joints. Was working out 6 days a week and some of those I had two workouts a day. I had great energy levels but no matter how much protein I had I was not able to lift as much, I also had a hard time with cardio. Which was not a big deal and it actually helped me let go of some ego issues as well as just relax into my body and give it what it needed and not to push it more than it wanted. Basically, I have been in ketosis for over 2 months now and I feel great. With that being said I do miss veggies and fruits and I will be going back to them and this time some extra fats. :) But like you said, I think doing the vegan keto is an amazing way to reset so I will be doing it a few times a year for a few months each time. Its make a huge difference in my ever evolving heath journey.
P.S. Thanks for doing the challenge and I hope you do more videos on the vegan keto topic.

Honestly, in the beginning I was a little lost. I looked for recipes online and just plugged everything into Chronometer (I wanted to make sure I was getting enough of nutrients and that I wasn't seeing any red flags. Last thing I wanted was to be deficient in anything.) After a while I was bored and just really wanted a "plan", I got the Vegan Keto book by Liz MacDowell ( www.amazon.com/Vegan-Keto-Liz-MacDowell/dp/1628603143 ) and that helped a lot.
The 2nd month has been a lot easier and just a little more relaxed, I also just use the Keto app to track since it is a little easier with that calculations of net carbs. Let me know if you have any questions, would love to help if I can. #veganketo #veganforlife

Lost 20% of total body fat and it works for me got to 2.6 ketones and best GKI of 1.8. Worst bit was a mega carb spike when I tested a pizza and a mega spike when I ate flour. The 2 poisons for me. There is so much dogma and black and white thinking out there and, in reality, you are still doing more for animals and the environment for 2 weeks here and there than someone who never has a vegan meal ever. 4:46 Me too. I currently love my vegetarian Ayurvedic food (Pitta Balancing). 😋
Yes, Agree, the Keto Vegan way makes your mind more alert, able to focus because there is less clogging up the digestive system.
Yes, more endurance because the body is more 'clear', less stagnation (that meat/animal products give.)
Starting out of Vegan Keto, the Cook does have a lot of new info to scrabble through for what suits your body type(Prakriti), but like my family, because we had been doing it long term (December 2018 -when we found your channel) we adapted and have less of a problem ,especially as now we don't eat that much in the day, AND have a smaller eating window.
We didn't have loads of Chia, flax, Sun Warrior, No Nutri-yeast, nor Soy (dare not). Instead, big variety (of veg, some lentils, beans, nuts, seeds, herbs, fruits, teas,) )and it did work for us until we saw ailment still peeking through (related to Endocrine system damage from air, water, stress,'fake' food. )
So we have turned our eating window of Vegan-Keto into an Ayurvedic one, which is all the before mentioned with a small amount of Ancient unadulterated grain Emmer. Boy it really gave my mood and lethargy a boost. And no bloating!!!
And that suits my family (three children under 10 years old). 😋
x x x Best Wishes to you and your family.

Then tried to Encorporate meat , eggs, but started to have other symptoms ( like headaches, herpes on my lips, inflammations) . I feel trapped. 😪

Excellent review. I’m also vegan and new to keto. No problems so far. I make thick veg soups with tofu. The good kind as I live in Tokyo. I put high quality peanut butter into the soup. Tastes great. I’ve been following 16 8 and enjoying it. Very clear head. Improved balance and strength. Long walk every day. Often twice as my energy level is so high.

In one of your videos you mentioned that high triglycerides is a sign that keto might not be for you . Could you elaborate, please. It's my case and don't know what to do . Your advice would be indeed helpful . I tried to find studies about this but no luck . Appreciate your videos .Thank you Gabe

    I'm a true fan.

Calm down Taylor. It’s called a female, they live all around you in every day life, no just in internet form. No need overreact and burst a blood vessel over her

Thank you Thomas, I am really glad you did this as I am a keto vegetarian, doing a mix of both IF and prolonged fasting up to 48 hours max on occasion. After hearing your great feedback I think I will join you when you next do your vegan keto diet.

The first time I went keto I also went vegan. I wasn’t well prepared and I worked two jobs plus attended school so I made one meal a day and bought take out for my second meal. My first meal was a spinach and peanut butter shake. My take out meal was vegan Penang curry with an extra side of vegetables. The curry I actually split into two servings therefore I ate three times in a six hour window. I lost 35lbs in two months. And, I’m not perfect so there were cheat moments but I recovered quickly.

I'd love for you to expound on what you ate every day for this! I've been keto for over a year, but I'm going keto plant based, and need as much information as possible on how to sustain myself while doing this. This video alone helped tons! Thanks.

Tofu and tempeh is good vegan protein resources! And it’s keto friendly! Haven’t heard u mention that

Maybe he left them out in favour of the pea protein powder because they’re made of soya / soy (@8:04 he said to eat the non-soy vegan cheeses), & because he’s being sponsored by the *pea* protein makers.

He probably intentionally avoids soy for some reason, some people are scared of soy products

rightfully so. look up the main grower of soy. stay far away from that company and all of the companies under and above it. Stay safe.@@cheekygrin6258

Thanks for the update! I'm glad you found some benefit from this. Once I get ketosis well established, I was hoping to slowly shift back to a more vegetarian/vegan diet. I'll keep SW's pea protein in mind when I get there.
