@@vinceq1036 This is with the mingus big band and recorded a fair whe after mingus died - it's not the original recording. It's definitely Seamus Blake as the soloist
@@oldmatedave1 If so (and I have no reason to doubt you) then I stand gratefully corrected, and kudos to Mr. Blake, that's one of the top five sax performances I've ever heard.
I dont know how to edit the description, but the saxophone soloist on this song is Seamus Blake. Sorry I didnt mention it, I honestly only thought to post it for a friend who wanted to learn it, never thought anyone would really see it.
You should put the name of this soloist. I know this one is Mingus' composition and played by Mingus big band though, Charles Mingus himself didn't get involved with this session,
Cant forget this is the legendary Seamus Blake on tenor :D
was it really? shit he's good
This song was recorded 1959, 11 years before Seamus Blake was born. That solo was played by Curtis Porter.

The saxophonist on this song is Curtis Porter. Seamus Blake wasn't even born when this song was recorded in 1959.
This truly is one of the songs of all time

This transcription is like 80% correct. Most of the slower lines are right, but the runs are not quite what’s written here
