Just tripped over this clip and was reminded -- this was probably the best overall episode of Gaogaigar. Starts as basically a Volfogg solo episode, ends with a manual Final Fusion, and then a fight with an evil twin Gaogaigar. The fight isn't super impressive, but the drama is high.
One of the first two Manual Final Fusions in the whole GaoGaiGar meta. The second one happens to be the final battle of the final arc of the franchise.
The first time I watched this episode was 22 years ago… I was 18 back then and I remember buying the dvd set. This scene never left my memory because of its intensity and the quick speech at the end. I’m thankful for this clip being uploaded, because even as a 40 year old, there are times where I feel down because of drama at work, with idiots who try to harass me for simply being better than them. Trash who spread rumors about me because they can never reach my level of quality of work. Just watching this clip is a reminder to stay true to myself, because these people are nothing but impostors who will never reach my level.
The Final Fusion from the second episode also has the Zonder penetrating the tornado but GaiGar knocks it away using Drill Gao. It seems that the chance for the enemies to pass through is when the Final Fusion sequence is restarted which happened in that episode and in this one as well.
Yeah, GGG addressed some of the tropes that caused issues for people who aren't giant robot fans. The green vortex to deal with "why didn't the enemy just attack while the robot is transforming?". The Dividing Driver deals with "if robots are throwing each other around, that's lots of people getting hurt and property damage". It was an interesting take on things.

@@catbegeop 퓨전 아웃을 실시할 때마다 항상 라이너가오 쪽이 헐거워지는 것도 있었는데... 지금 선보인 가오가이가가 갈레온의 내부정보(제네식의 정보)를 바탕으로 지구제로 구현했는 거라서 규격에서의 스타일이 한계가 있어서 갈레온조차도 기형화가 될 우려를 감수하면서 저렇게 함께 싸웠으니까...

Loll... I only got one thing to complain about this might sound stupid to some but I found this baffling how long gaogaigar's transformation sequence is and how absolutely no baddie ever tried to get the drop on him except for dude here close but no cigar I guess... would be pretty anti climactic if it did happen I know still find that weird tho

This is one of the few times where they subvert it! If EI-15 wasn't held back, Guy would have been unable to finish the sequence.

파이널 퓨전은 매번 실패 가능성 높은 합체인데 저걸 수동 조종으로 하는건 진짜 목숨을 걸고 지구를 지키는 용자다운 에피소드였다......
그리고 파이널 퓨전 자체가 반동이 엄청 심해서 가이도 버거워하죠 근데 가오가이가의 핵심이 되는 가이가는 아니더라도 드릴가오 라이너가오 스텔스가오 이쪽에도 부담이 꽤 심할텐데 저걸 보호장구없이 맨몸으로 ㅎㄷㄷ
