For anyone wondering about the random little "Wil Knife" part, it was that he was in Pasder's lair fighting Pizza, with his Will Knife breaking during the fight. Pasder raised up his entire lair and turned it into what they fight in this clip. Apparently, calling on the Will Knife allows you to see its location as well, and it just so happened to fall right where Pasder's core is.
I love how the show before this had a lighthearted feel to it, while still being cool, this scene is just pure testosterone. I have rewatched this fight too many damn times, and never get tired of it. Even if this show has a lot of filler, this more than enough makes up for it

It got popular in Japan as well as the US and elsewhere, and supplanted Diaclone/Microchange completely. When the toyline faded in the US, Japan kept going, making new series' such as Headmasters, Zone and Victory.

I always liked how ChouRyuJin and Goldy Marg's chestplates flashed. Volfogg you'd expect, but for them it just looks like they're so full of power that it's spilling out through parts it normally wouldn't. And I always figured that the ash from EI-01 landing might have had something to do with them losing color at the end, or maybe their armor's durability is linked to an energy source (Gundam SEED does something similar with Phase Shift armor). Shame they never explained it officially.

okay now , for those who don't know why guy is using the will knife to find the core , it is because he wants to find the core and destroy it . like imagine the core is still somewhere in Tokyo . And also if guy doesn't destroy the core , EI01 will still return.
Most of the animation for Transformers G1 was done overseas anyway. The primary studio was Toei Animation which produced season 1, most of season 2, some episodes for season 3 and the movie. While they did that they also produced teh Scramble City OVA to take the place of the movie at first, before developing Headmasters, Super God Masterforce, Victory and the Zone OVA. All other Transformers shows were done by other studios.

Well you see, the people who made GaoGaiGar also made Transformers (Yes, Transformers is a Japanese show), and in Transformers whenever a robot died, his colors would disappear. So I guess that they kept the "robot dies, colors goes away" thing from the older days.

You're wrong about a couple of things there, first of all the TOYS that made up Transformers were Japanese to begin with, but the concept and storyline of Transformers was indeed American. Japan actually DID get the Transformers 1986 movie, but not until 1989, first released on Laserdisc under the title 'Matrix Forever', then it came out on video the following year (as memory serves).

Mamoru would have been one of the main characters in Project Z. I guess they realized that nobody would watch a show that would probably end up trashing GGGG for the new toys. Obviously that would be the fault of Takara, but still. ;_;

yuriski1 Maybe you haven't get deeper knowing of the whole setting. Try to find the CD drama (more background information) and Novel (filling the gap of TV series and FINAL) if possible. Unfortunately it's all Japanese as I know... Also, the PS1 game Blockaded Numbers filled holes too. But the best of all is to watch Betterman then FINAL Grand Glorious Gathering after watching TV series.

+yuriski1 The problem with GGG FINAL is that I think once they leave Earth the show becomes very unsatisfying to watch. They kind of wasted the potential of their idea, and it's just not fun to see that the villains are always one step ahead and nothing the heroes did matters. I think it's completely reasonable to like the original series better than FINAL.
I've always thought that too. FINAL just feels so... hopeless feeling and "edgy" in unsettling ways. I liked the original because it was glorious super mecha anime that did all it could with the purpose of selling toys. All dark gritty stuff on FINAL felt like forced to make it more adult for apparent older target audience. The final ending is just complete downer and made me dislike the whole OVA series, because it felt almost like they made out their way to ruin great athmosphere and ending of the original series.

I had this headcanon where the will knife was made from the g stone that powers Guy. So that in some way he was connected to it.

you had to of grown up a child of the very early 1980's as a life long fan to be able to understand what starblazers was all about as a war story, that those among us who grew up with the star force as life long fans knew exactly what it took to fill the shoes of those onboard the space battlesip yamato who had lived fought and died in the defense of humanity and our world. as fans we all know that no one paid a higher price during the five years of interstellar war then those who served on the yamato in the defense of earth and mankind
ask anyone who is familier wiht starblazers the yamato and her crew the star force and they will tell you the same exact thing as i do now. that those who served on the yamato in the defense of earth and mankind did so out of Duty, Strength. Passion. Love. Brotherhood. Teamwork . Unity. Commitment. Dedication. Determination. Respect. Compassion, ... Loyalty, Selflessness ,Sacrifice, cooperation, coexistence, exploration, tolerance, discovery, knowledge, friendship, and family. .these people were autobots in every proper sense of the word . there are , have been and shall always be 3 things you never want to stand against in sci fi anime , and they are the Yamato, the star force , and the wave motion cannon.
when i first came aboard as a fan in 1983i saw the yamato only as a big hunk of metal, only through my growing up experincing yamato did it come to mean more to me the yamato and her daring crew the star force are an amazing tribute to the indomitability of the human spirit in the face of a a hostile & unforgiving universe, stated with bravery & determination & heroic fighting spirit,. one that held together as much by the collective will of what remains of her surviving crew as by the rivets & welds of her tired hull, pure audacity given form her crew getting by on sheer grit , tenacity and fighting spirit making the impossible possible through sheer force of will and unrelenting heroism the yamato is more then bolts and bulkheads, she is a living thing , strengthened by everyone who served and died while serving her in battle . she is not just another ship , shes the mirror of our eternal soul

okay now , for those who don't know why guy is using the will knife to find the core , it is because he wants to find the core and destroy it . like imagine the core is still somewhere in Tokyo . And also if guy doesn't destroy the core , EI01 will still return.
Most of the animation for Transformers G1 was done overseas anyway. The primary studio was Toei Animation which produced season 1, most of season 2, some episodes for season 3 and the movie. While they did that they also produced teh Scramble City OVA to take the place of the movie at first, before developing Headmasters, Super God Masterforce, Victory and the Zone OVA. All other Transformers shows were done by other studios.

You mean the colors of the robots at the end of the video? Well you see, the people who made GaoGaiGar also made Transformers (Yes, Transformers is a Japanese show), and in Transformers whenever a robot died, his colors would disappear.

You're wrong about a couple of things there, first of all the TOYS that made up Transformers were Japanese to begin with, but the concept and storyline of Transformers was indeed American. Japan actually DID get the Transformers 1986 movie, but not until 1989, first released on Laserdisc under the title 'Matrix Forever', then it came out on video the following year (as memory serves).

Maybe you haven't get deeper knowing of the whole setting. Try to find the CD drama (more background information) and Novel (filling the gap of TV series and FINAL) if possible. Unfortunately it's all Japanese as I know...
Also, the PS1 game Blockaded Numbers filled holes too.

+yuriski1 The problem with GGG FINAL is that I think once they leave Earth the show becomes very unsatisfying to watch. They kind of wasted the potential of their idea, and it's just not fun to see that the villains are always one step ahead and nothing the heroes did matters. I think it's completely reasonable to like the original series better than FINAL.
I've always thought that too. FINAL just feels so... hopeless feeling and "edgy" in unsettling ways. I liked the original because it was glorious super mecha anime that did all it could with the purpose of selling toys. All dark gritty stuff on FINAL felt like forced to make it more adult for apparent older target audience. The final ending is just complete downer and made me dislike the whole OVA series, because it felt almost like they made out their way to ruin great athmosphere and ending of the original series.

(for all intents it would litersally be an opportunity to be fully reincarnated into a new life asa living cybertronian instead, ) everything thaat made that eprson everything they were asa person mind, personality attitude ego , psyche wise it would all be digitalized and transfered from their ruined living human body into a fully lfunctional living cybetronian body (think godmaster ala masterfroce but with the transfer being permanent)

His AI( his mind personality , attitude ,) is patterned on the human character Geki Hyuuma, giving him a hotheaded personality; in essence mind wise i always got the impression that goldymarg was somewhere between being geki's kid brother slash son for all intents
but yeah the idea of a person being a burned out combat veteran /multi amputee wiht nothing left to live for being given the chance to literally make a new life for theirself wiht a completely new body and a healed mind for the expereince,
in a situation like that what person wouldn't be seriously tempted to at the very least serisouly consider being reborn healthy whole in mind and body and fully healed for the expereince?
but yeah a group of such human individuals get mind scanned wake up in new bodies as fully living beings and find the guts to make a name for their unit as the first of a entirely human originated earth born generation of autobot/super robot type hot headed hot blooded heroes
the side effects of the mind uploading transfer being that they find their minds healed , their trauma still present in terms of memory recall but their m ind s so radically changed by their rebirth that they are essentially a whole entirely new person, (they have the memories of the experirnces in their past human life that originated the mental trauma but not said mental trauma itself) they have their demons in their way to deal wiht collectively (but said demons have been effectively muted for the most part and deprived of their ability to inflict further harm in each of their lives trauma wise) this in turn drives them to devellope a respectfully fearsome hero/deathseeker mindset) they want to do as much good in their newly reincarnated lives as autobot heroes as they possibly can and the bigger the blaze of glory they can make of their new lives in the end going out as the selfless hot blooded hero the better. but yeah they would literally be the original generation of yuusha braves in the transformers verse
as a unit so long as they have the will to live , to continue living they will survive no matter what the odds at against them,they will live and they will fight for all that is good and decent and honest and just and heroic .for these guys willpower is literally their super power
