I got a custom speedo face from Low and Mean, and it turned out great. Hope you guys keep pumping out products like this.
Good video and tips. One suggestion I will make is that you do not have to remove the rubber piece at the bottom of the speedometer unit as shown at 2:35. You can simply lift the cover a bit and move it around to gain access to the face plate. So, the rubber mount becomes almost like a joint.
This insert will fit all VN900 motorcycles.

so with the stock bars u dont have to losen it before removing the gauge assembly?
If your bars come close it's a simple loosening to get them out of the way.

How do you change the background light bulb? I couldn't even find any bulbs. You have an orange glow around your panel, Mine doesn't work. What do you change to get it working again?
We did not have to do any maintenance like that for our install. If you don't find any easily accessible bulbs then it might be a board-mounted LED is technically replaceable, assuming you find the correct voltage replacement. We can not advise on anything more, sorry.
I put one of them face plate on the weekend exactly what you’ve done in the video and my Speedo seems still to be a bit jumpy any advice that you’d be able to give would be greatly appreciated
I would check to see if the speedometer will work without the face plate installed. This will tell you if the plate is causing it or your speedometer is damaged.
And if it is damaged… what is there to do to fix it?
My speedometer dial stopped working after I installed this. Any ideas of what I might have done wrong?
Check your dial without the speedometer face installed. If it still does not move, then check the dial key/slot and wires for damage.
My friend has done away with the factory speedo and wants to put digital on his....The tank has been modified and there is no factory speedo left....Have you ever fitted an after market digital speedo to one of these bikes and if so could you please give me the heads up on which wires control the speed needle as I assume they are all electronic.
+Andrew Russell We could not advise on modifying or altering your stock assembly. We can, however, recommend that you contact a company that sells the aftermarket speedo of your choice.
