normally I don't say anything when Jingles gets a tank wrong, after all he's using a small window when he records the video so he can hardly see the tanks, or their names, but... you mistook an Ru 251 for a T37, c'mon dude!

I'm not too fond of arty, but I still understand it has massive drawbacks for the people who play it. It costs a metric ton of credits to run and you'll hardly make anything, it needs more experience to grind, you can't carry with it and you are completely at the mercy of RNG. So I do think It needs a change to make it better for arty and non arty players.

I believe the most logical course of action for the Wargaming enterprise in this ghastly situation would be to remove this controversial class from their flagship game, and as compensation for the unlucky individuals who happen to enjoy tormenting us tank enthusiasts with their never ending reign of terror; to introduce an unique medal that would be obtained by playing a single game of artillery. There could also be a possibility of monetary compensation of a single gold coin per a tier 10 SPG, though such profusion would rightly be frowned upon in this courteous community of gamers.
+Hayden Jenzen I love playing arty as much as I enjoy normal tanks, maybe even more (I suck at turretless TD's though). I love the patience game, the feeling when you pull the trigger and wait 4 seconds to see what obliteration you caused. I've loved arty in RTS games every time. The elegance of the projectile leaving the cannon, gracefully flying in a high arc across mountains and buildings and then sending enemy defenses flying in tiny little pieces.
But I also understand the frustration of tankers to some extent (though as an arty player since the moment I started playing WoT, I have no issues with arty and may have been killed by arty maybe 8 times in some 10k games total).
I think the only thing arty needs to be more balanced for all sides is reduced RNG (HE mechanics more consistent - i.e. less spiky damage, better accuracy but lower AoE), but also a warning every time arty fires (audio of the powerful gun echoing through the map), which would warn tankers that 1) arty just fired, so move to avoid 2) if the shot wasn't fired on you that means they aren't focused on you atm 3) you have a window when you can do whatever you want because arty is reloading. The travel time of the shots could also be increased perhaps, though that would make arty completely useless against most meds and even some heavies unless they are truly camping. I remember trying to hit moving targets with Bishop and FV304 and that shit is impossible (5 sec travel time at 500m).
+Isoherrah Or they can make it play more like arty in Armored Warfare meaning drop the HP damage possibility increase accuracy & reload speed, add an arty indicator when arty is focusing in on you...although if there are enemy tanks firing at you you should realize arty will most likely be firing at you too, then add shell types such as flares & smoke so you can be more useful to your team as support than just pure kill farmer.
+MarcusTheAbsolute There is nothing wrong with artillery, the people who bitch and whine about them cant do at least 2 of 3 things to assure they don't suffer the pain of artillery.
1) Look at the team composition
2) Learn the maps and predict the obvious locations artillery drivers sit
3) Make sure there is always something -50m in between the predicted position and the tank driver

That's nice in theory but not possible in practice. In city maps, yes, arty can be rendered useless by proper positioning and awareness, that's why I hate playing on these maps (even people who suck at countering artillery have a good chance to be behind a building by accident). There are however maps that are just too open, with too little solid cover to predict arty blind spots. If people went only to places protected against arty, 3/4 of the map would be empty and open for the enemy to take over, which is just not feasible.
The number one thing people don't do that would be completely sufficient to counter arty is move. And I don't mean fire, move to a different location some 50m away and then continue fighting, which is what most people imagine when the word move is spoken. I mean move forward 3m, fire, move back 2m, fire, move forward 5m, fire, turn 20°, move to the side 4m, fire. I've found that people who keep moving randomly few meters between each shot, different directions and distances, are not even worth shooting. It's just waste of time, you will miss most shots and splash for 300 dmg at best.
People think doing some 600 dmg in arty is OP. They don't realize you fire 2x a minute. Doing less than 300 dmg a shot means you might as well not be in the game (plus you lose tons of money). Missing shots and just splashing is not something arty can afford so moving players are protected, since smart arty won't even aim on them.
All these dislikes. I wonder where they are coming from....

With all those missed shots in the second replay, you'd think the enemy team consisted of nothing but storm troopers...
So ive just started university and i have a roommate who has never played wot before. So i thought i would show him, and played one match. That was the best math ever 6.5k dmg T-54 carry. He was like: omg this game rocks, lets give it a try. So we went on, downloaded wot on his PC and he started grinding a tier 2 tank :) He chose to go for the centurion line. After 10 losses in a row he asked me what kind of other tanks are in the game. I told him everything. Oh i wish i didnt. The very next game he tried T57 tier 2 US arty... 500 dmg, Golden mastery badge and everything... Now he is at tier 4, he is very good with it, enjoys playing, but knows absolutely nothing about penetration, armor, concealment, cover and so on...
Holy fuck i just made another skypig. I apologise to every tanker who reads this :(

Jingles got me started on WOT about 9 yrs ago, while I rarely play the game anymore, like Jingles I think the owners have destroyed it in search of gold, I still enjoy watching his videos.

I actually enjoy artillery because people say they are overpowered but that really aren't. Their accuracy circle is as big as an apartment complex, they take forever to aim, they have comically bad armor, their rate of fire is extremely long. That Rate of fire means if you miss (which you will frequently) you are in serious trouble or your teammate you were looking out for is in trouble. People complain about the damage and the camo rating. But they need that camo rating and damage because they are supposed to be snipers (good luck with that with how bad the accuracy is) and counter arty WILL kill you if you get spotted. So I enjoy arty and am really good I think at it. I only help my team and move after each shot. I also hunt the enemy arty. I think they just have a bad rep because people hate getting wrecked by their high explosive.

+Justin Haas same thing happened to me. i introduced my friend to the game and after being frustrated by facing Kv1s in his tier3 tank he switched to arty. He now has tier7 British arty. he has 0 map awareness, knows nothing about armor, mechanics and all the good things. I don't blame him; he noticed that a certain class in the game is utterly op and requires 0 skill and went for it...
The stats all the other artillery players had in the FV304 game excluding the FV304 itself shows the true sad reality of playing artillery. You will more often than not get games like that, 3-5 hits and 200-300 damage. People's vision of an OP vehicle who can shoot at you from anywhere is nothing but a fantasy

Jingles, you are kind of wrong about the Conqueror GC. it is actually quite accurate due to the way it's she'll arc works. Since it has such a high arc, the enemy tanks TOO are bigger targets due to perspective.
+Alexander “Charcharo” Yordanov well, it's still less accurate. You're going to have more direct hits in an Object 261 than a CGC, but the thing is- misses are much more forgiving. A miss in a CGC that goes 1m over the top of their turret will land just behind their tank, splash for a bunch of damage. A miss in a 261 that goes 1m over the top of their turret will sail 50m behind them and bury itself harmlessly in the dirt.

True it is more forgiving. But I want to dispell the myth that it is the least accurate arty.
You see, its targets are actually bigger, so that balances out a part of its inaccuracy.

I do have to say I think that the arc which also negates a lot of enemy cover is better than being accurate, but maybe that is subjective.

I think the reason most people hate on arty in general is because they themselves sit still, and thus give all arty a nice target to aim at, my way of playing is to wiggle back and forth, even in my AT2 which is slow Af I wiggle, and I rarely get killed, or even hit by arty.

Bert is a terrifying little monster. I absolutely despise running across them because of that blistering speed, high angle of fire, fast reload and tight aiming circle. But, of course, when you have Bert on your team, it's nice to have all those things working for you.

the BERT player was pure and total clicker, not paying attention to the map, not finishing the KV-2 because he was selfish and wanted to farm dmg on TOG- not helping their team, not a good game just a lucky clicker
+rudkacka To be fair most arty drivers will target tanks with more HP as it means more damage should a shot hit. Tanks with low HP aren't really worth it as you won't make the cost of your shell back by hitting them.

I have been playing WoT now for over two years and have never found arty to be a problem. Well, apart from trying make any decent creds/xp while using them! :p
Arty hate is so pathetic, which is the main reason I can't watch Quickybaby anymore. I know people will either accuse me of either being a "arty scumbag clicker skycancer etc...." or some other childish insult, but just because you don't think arty is broken and you actually think it adds to the game does not mean you play it. I tried too ages ago, but as Jingles pointed out, It is bloody hard to do well with RNG kicking you in the balls all the time. If you keep being one-shotted by arty......how about you try not to sit in the open and use cover? Hmmmm?
And because I know this is going to cause a huge reply list of salty arty whine, I will henceforth be ignoring this comment. So byebye all and thanks again Jingles, I look forward to your next vid :)

***** If you see artillery on the loading screen, you should already be pre-determining how to move across the map while being exposed as little as possible. If you're in a Light or fast Medium tank, then moving from cover to cover shouldn't be too difficult. Of course, it helps if your team mates work with you, rather than against you, and there will be situations where even if you do everything you can to be arty safe, you'll still get hit. It happens. However, when I see players just sitting in the open, getting hit by artillery, not moving, and then seeing them complaining in chat, I have little sympathy for them, for they didn't take basic steps to defend themselves against the arty. If you're one of those kind of players, then this conversation is over.
***** Cover is hard stuff, buildings and rocks, ridges, things like that. Concealment is bushes, things you hide in, where if you have a good camo rating, you can hide in them without being spotted. Trust me, I've been playing WoT for Two years, I know the difference. Anything else to ask? Or is the fact that I know what I'm talking about to much for you.

+Nightmare Dancer Carriers just need a slight rebalance with the time it takes for Torpedoes to activate once dropped. Aside from that, they're fine. Artillery in WoT, unfortunately, would require a massive re-haul, and needs to be more fun to play, and easier to counter. However, given the way most player are, even if WoT Artillery were to be rebalanced in the way Armored Warfare does Artillery, I'm sure players will still whine and complain anyway, so they might as well leave them be.

I remember the T95 game he is talking about. He also did a video about it. This thing bounces 30k damage and survives. It even gets the "Patrol Duty" medal for scouting 9+ vehicles.

Always entertaining seeing an arty game going right for a change. I hate arty as the next fellow, but I play it myself and I understand how it works, that's why I don't cry everytime I get hit by the hand of God: either he got lucky or I did something stupid. In both cases, it is fine, I just jump in arty the next game and release that frustration on others :) It's healthy I say !
I absolutely love my Bert! Whenever I get frustrated with team play in my regular tanks (which, let's face it, is very often these days) I just hop into Bert and laugh my hairy beanbag off. Thanks for this replay.
Just came home from an eleven and a half hour shift. But all worth it, Jingles I can always count on you to make me go to bed never feeling worse than all good...

Yup, that view mod is definitely popular for frequent arty commanders. It makes shooting into cities/towns and over/around hills exponentially more do-able. It's pretty much a necessity, if you want to maximize your potential while driving artillery.

The reason the M44 did so poorly is because he wasn't spamming HEAT at everything he could see. 240mm pen across all ranges, and 700 damage? That's enough to one shot every tier 5 heavy tank, and with a good damage roll, every tier 6 medium, light, TD and artillery
Heads up HEAT shells aren't cheap. Also if you miss with HEAT it's annoying
nice top gear reference you got there, you should do that more often when introducing tanks.
Is there a mod in use on this replay that allows the arty driver to get a 3d view rather than top down all the time or am I just missing something that's already there?

There are times when i play the FV304 and i'm in artillery view, and i dont notice that i am driving forwards or backwards because the aiming circle looks like the aiming circle size of other artillery

The FV304 is such a OP tank in the way that it can perma-track you and you have ZERO chance to escape if you don't have a repair kit or full repair crew .
A challenge for Jingles: make an arty video which doesn't inculde you saying "Artillery is boring" In any way or shape.

Actually when I heard that Jingles is starting the let's say "intro" to the Bert games, I thought for a moment that my replay was it, since I send an FV304 replay which seemed worse to Jingles than this one.
I just waited until all the guys started yelling out "wow I'm here early" "yay I'm the 136th person" and all that all from the start very funny to watch this kinda stuff happen LOL
A rare gem Jingles... skill (regardless of what you play) can't be wrong to showcase. The issue is not with players who play arty necessarily (except those who drown themselves), but rather how arty is implemented. I like what I see in Armored Warfare regarding how to implement arty.
I love watching how with one shot you get 5+ broken modules. Can you check them out when you have a big HE shots with lots of modules/crew screwed up, Jinlges, please?

Jingles, my name is Jacob Hodgson. I found out today that my cousin Sam Armstrong had killed himself. I was wondering if it might be possible for you to say a few words in a video to honour him.
