Hi, i have the non-removable hopper version (HD8965), i've asked Saeco and they recommended me not to put the milk-carafe in the dishwasher. Which info is correct? Thanks
+Espen Ruud Hi Espen, The Saeco manual for the HD8966 states: "You can also clean these parts in the dishwasher." in the section: "Weekly cleaning of the milk carafe" pages 66-68 of the English version. Don't have a manual for your model (HD8965) to cross reference. I'd say the info presented in the video is correct with regards to the model discussed. Outside chance some changes were made to the carafe between the models., Do you have the manual for your machine? I'm curious what it says.
+Whole Latte Love Hi, i just read the English manual online, it stated that all the parts in the lid can be washed in the dishwasher, but the carafe itself was not mentioned. If i remember correctly, i was told on Saecos fb-page that it wasn't recommended to put the main carafe in the dishwasher. The first time i cleaned it manually i used soaped water and a standard, soft dish brush and it left scatches on it, so switched to a sponge ater that. Thansk for the reply!
My dad has a Saeco Minuto Focus, which also offers a "regular coffee" option like this one. I agree with what you guys said that it produces a better cup compared to a capsule machine, but there's no way it's better than coffee from a (good) drip brewer, like you also argued you could get rid of your drip brewer. The "regular coffee" from these superautos tastes more like a watered-down under-extracted espresso than real drip coffee.
+ascosta The Gran Baristo brew group is very different than the one in the Minuto. Curious what coffee you were using? Put a darker roasted Italian style espresso blend in, brew at the lower pressure and we know what your are talking about on the Minuto. Also, we should have mentioned in the video it helps a lot to adjust the grinder to a coarser setting when doing longer low-pressure brewed coffee. Leave the grind fine as if doing espresso and it will be over-extracted. Can't disagree that you'll likely get better coffee out of a good drip brewer than single-serve.
Yeah, I tried talking him into using a medium roast and even bought him a bag, but he keeps coming back to dark roast. It's just entrenched in his brain: the more bitter, the better... so he just cranks up the dose, adjusts the grinder to the finest and buys the oiliest beans he can find :) That's why I never forget my Aeropress, beans and Hario grinder when I go visit!
This video is incorrect when it states that the machine does not have a self cleaning cycle for the milk carafe after doing a milk base drink. Mine machine asks me do I want to clean the carafe every time I do a Latte, I press yes and jets of water go thru the top of the carafe.

+Espen Ruud Replies are our pleasure! You are right about the manual not being entirely clear about the carafe.
The machine will automatically clean the milk carafe after each milk base drink, mine does it.
Great review
Hi em, Thanks for the comment!

I can't believe to get one that has the milk container, grinder and a decent amount of space for travel mugs are $2000+
Well, Gaggia Anima with all those features is currently $999: www.wholelattelove.com/gaggia-anima-prestige-super-automatic-espresso-machine
@@Wholelattelovepage that's what I'll end up getting. I was hoping for enough room for a travel mug, but Ill just use a measuring cup.
