  • Learn English Phrasal Verbs using Hold in this English phrasal verb lesson.
    Phrasal verbs are used a lot in English conversation. We use a lot of phrasal verbs everyday when we are speaking, listening, or writing. It is a good idea to know as many English phrasal verbs as possible.
    This English phrasal verb lesson focuses on the word HOLD. I teach 3 phrasal verbs using HOLD. Hold on, hold back, and hold off. Actually, these 3 phrasal verbs have more than 2 meanings each. So learn English phrasal verbs using Hold in this lesson.

    i usually perfer to hold off my summer vacation until late summer, so then there wouldnt be as many people.
    the last summer when i went on a vacation, my flight was held up because of the heavy rain and gusting, and it was kind of annoying but i held back my emotions , cuz i was with my kids.
    plus : the second meaning of hold off is new to me ! i couldnt say thank you enough !
    they say a run of rains is supposed to be here soon, i hope it holds off !

    Sir thanks a lot for your lessons, I m advocate from india, if possible kindly post videos on phrasal verbs or small sentences which are used in courts in view of junior advocates and if I need to take adjournment in court if senior engaged in his niece marriage program " my lordship I m seeking for adjournment, my senior counsel is unable to appear being he engaged in his niece marriage program " and another situation if my senior held up in funeral ceremony of his relatives " lordship my senior is held up in funeral ceremony of his relatives, kindly adjourn the matter" are these sentences grammatically correct sir, pls reply me sir

    I want to know what is the meaning of HOLD UP, PLEASE?
    Because I'm confused about what that word means.

      Hold up means to "wait a moment" or "don't go right away".

      Ok. Actually. It means both. You can use has “wait”. Or use as “don’t go “
