Been aboard her and sailed on her many times as my Gather was a Captain 🧑✈️ Aboard the Crown Jewel Abegweit. Captain. William “Bill” S. MacMillan. An Absolute Stunning Vessel Inside and Out. She was A Classy Ship and one we missed the boat on not keeping her ourselves for Historical Purposes. However I am happy she was saved and not meeting the same fate as the other Vessels, in Going To Scrap. Thank U for sharing this.
I’m 71. I remember my dad taking me with him to sail as a small child on the Sea Hawk. Afterwards we would go into the Yatch club, a beer for Dad and a Shirley Temple for me. I loved going up and down the grand staircase, sometimes being told it wasn’t to play on. I wasn’t playing, I WAS a princess! Lol that was during the 50’s and early 60’s. Then during the late 60’/70’s he’d sail on the Holiday. Both captains were the Keefe brothers. My dad got married and I never went sailing again, probably best because I would get really sea sick, heck I get sea sick in a canoe.
Awesome tour of a very unique club house. Thank you.
Glad you enjoyed it.

I spent many a happy hour sailing on the Abegweit on the Northumberland Straight between New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island, Canada.
my grandfather sailed her in 1947
P.S… Abegweit is pronounced “AbbyGwayy” or “AbbyGwitt” no V in the name. Commonly just referred to as the Abby
