Hi Ken, I've been selling postcards on eBay over 28 years now. I agree with you, it's a lot of work. I've put in my dues. You can most definitely make a living out of it after a few years of building inventory, learning the trade and building a customer base. But be prepared to work 40-50 hrs a week, sometimes 7 days a week. And you cannot do it by selling $3-$4 cards. I'm happy to help any new sellers with questions they may have so they avoid the typical pitfalls. My advice is to spend the money to buy the very best cards you can afford and avoid the low dollar cards unless you are able to sell hundreds a week.
Stamp collection seller here. There are a lot of parallels with the postcard market especially perceived value on items. Hardest part is convincing the seller of actual value. Took me 20 years to establish my business but now have a large following and make a good living. It takes patience.
You are so right. However, I don't worry so much about "convincing the buyer" when it comes to my prices. If the buyer is a true collector and looks at postcards as collector's items, and understands the value of them, they usually don't have a problem paying for what I charge. If the buyer is a "hobbyist" and look at postcards as nothing more than a piece of cardstock, then they usually don't even bother buying from me or they will send me some really ridiculous "low ball" offer, which I in turn will either counter or decline.
Hi Karen. Not sure of the percentages but I think the younger generation is more "influenced" unfortunately by all these so called "20 year old millionaires" on tick tock and Instagram pushing all their "fake it until you make it" get rich quick schemes. There is so much fraud being advertised on those platforms it is staggering.
Thank you for the great video on reality postcarding.I'm going to statring marketing postcards on E-bay among other items. I don't plan to get rich, just make what I can but be consistant.

Very good advice. Thanks for taking the time to share your experience.
You're very welcome. Thanks for watching.
I like your outlook on investing time now to build your future. Have you ever found a post card where the postage stamp had more value than the card?
Thank you so much. No I've never found one like that but I'm sure they are out there since rare stamps are highly collectible as well. .
Great advice! Thank you!
You're very welcome. Glad I could help.
Thanks for the honest conversation. Do you know the demographic of postcard collectors? Is the younger generation interested in collecting postcards?
