Well done tracking down that bargain! I find that cigarette lighter fluid is great for removing sticky tape without damaging the cardboard. Looking forward to seeing you open the remaining packages.
THAT was one hell of a deal. And the original para figures still have the factory shine to them. Paying that amount for all the other boxes would be a bargain but with the paras? No wonder you were smiling!
Collecting Airfix soldier sets started for me around the middle of the 1970s I think. I no longer buy WW2 plastic figure sets - unless a bunch of 1/32 Italian Infantry soldiers make me an offer I cannot refuse. With them my collection in 1/32 scale would be complete... So none of the Brown series is in my collection, and just a handful of the later 1980s sets (also WW2 in 1/72 but far from complete). Not sure what to say about the Brown 1/32 British Paratroopers. I have them in 1/72 as well and they also look as the molds were only partially filled. I understand they are iconic- but I'm happy with my 1970s Paratroopers set.
Congratulations that box you have with the parachutist coming down in RED it’s very difficult to find. I would say about £120. I looked all over eBay. Nobody’s got it a reproduction box is $25 so fantastic find . I have a secret seller now that I’ve got my hands on and he does me a box of soldiers for £10. He’s not a collector he’s not a seller. He’s just an old age pensioner who wants a bit of extra money I’m very jealous because that box is super rare well done 👏 I did find that box that you’ve got on eBay is £280 😮so you’ve hit the jackpot 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I’ve just had a very good deal too I paid £27.50 for the two boxes of Atlantic soldiers . one box of German grenadier guards 1/32 Scale & one box of Japanese infantry 1/32 scale , they’re selling on eBay for £180 for the Japanese troops & £280 for the German Grenadier guards happy days . I was so surprised that I won these these two very rare boxes of soldiers. 🤣🤣🇯🇵🇩🇪💵
Googled jumpmaster but not sure exactly what he does. Is it the guy that stands by the door when everybody is jumping of the plane? What´s his job and why is he looking at his watch and why is his right hand up?
@@toysoldiernostalgia He's either looking at a watch or compass. You're right he is standing in the door or ramp of the plane so when he either reaches the time or area he will drop his hand signaling the troops to jump.
I would like to keep toy soldiers for collection sometime I would used them for military strategy if I am learning how to become a Generals or Warlord as a strong leadership
Funny how we tend to forget / ignore the two hours worth of petrol when we talk about our "bargain " purchases! 😊😊😊 Edit: Just got to the end of the video - SEVEN QUID?!?!?! For that I would've driven the long way around (do you have any Fjords?)!!!!
@@jeffholt9437 First, certainly the around 2010 red box reissues were done in K-Resin, a type of polystyrene, these clean up, as in seams can be scraped, glue and paint like any standard plastic kit. If you want Airfix figures for painting, these are what you want to get. They did nearly all the WW2 figures at this time. (except the Italians) If you want to work with the polythene figures, an old tip was to paint with PVA glue, as this will dry to form a film around the figure, but in 2020 I did a British Paratrooper officer on Britmodeller and used Mr.Surfacer as a primer, which worked very well. Google Britmodeller Airfix British Paratrooper officer and you should find it, you can't add links on here. Seams are harder, best way I found if with a new scalpel blade and trim them off carefully.
As usual there's lots of great toy soldiers you are finding I'm having trouble finding one small box. Instead of introducing all the great Airfix series it's only just very few. Now they are hard to find. Anything on eBay sellers are asking for hundreds of dollars worth. Not all of us are well off. I'm one of those unfortunately. Your collection continues to be fantastic. Good for you.☹️☹️☹️😣😣😣😢🇭🇲🦘🐨✌️
Absolutely wonderful. You lucky sod. Thank you for sharing.

Excellent hunting....

I have never seen them in this condition.

The italian Infantry is a very rare set (and now expensive). Good design and nice poses.

Oops, sorry, my mistake.
Won't happen again lol 😂

Uuuuuh what a Lucky Maaan……………he is in ELP wise sung 😮 Bathing in Airfix, and i smell the old plastic aroma with you now 😂
When I set up the 1 000 toy soldiers my whole studio smelled of lovely 1970s plastic.
I see Airfix has just commissioned a set of watches - perhaps they should do a cologne that smells like fresh plastic (for the wife)!!!!
We all living in a plastic world. 😉
Wow that's so awsome
Did you, manage to get a 1/72(6) pontoon bridge yet?? You mentioned it in another video.
Yes I have one now.
