The Star Wars fortress was a great idea. There´s even a wild west themed theme park here in Sweden called High Chaparall. I went there as kid and I have been with my son 2 or 3 times.

Great childhood memories with Airfix and Matchbox figures (1/76 & 1/32) and their kits, plus those small WWII comic books and the magazine PILOT! Greetings from a Swede in Glasgow! 🍻
It great to see these vintage sets, I have some of them. As for the airfix trains kits, dapol still makes them. I am not sure if airfix had another British company mainline to do the ready to run trains for them. I know dapol had most of moulds for ready to run models and kit but I know Hornby had some of the moulds. It get very complicated to know who had what and when.

I have had some interesting conversations with my wife about the regular deliveries of boxes to our house. "Why can't you just go drinking like a normal bloke?"
ebay have got involved in the shipping business and a lot of people in UK and US seem to ship this way - it means the seller ships the parcel to an ebay mail hub (could be in the same country as the seller) first, then the parcel is relabelled by ebay, and finally shipped to the buyer. This extra step adds more time for the buyer to receive it, and costs more money for the buyer than regular mail (as ebay needs to cover their labour/service costs)
A huge number of them as far as I can tell. The various railside buildings, the engine shed (which was always one of my favourites). The footbridge, signal box, level crossing, platform Accessories ticket box, some of the rolling stock and the engines. It seems like dapol must have got the kit moulds. I am not sure but after airfix's late entry to the actual model train set scene they sold that bit of the business to palitoy and it became mainline trains who got the ready made rolling stock and electric engine's. I think another company maybe helijan got some of that eventually. The airfix railway stuff is not highly sought after by model railway collectors. There seems to be a lot of a small number of those models. In particular the large prairie tank engine. But I loved the kits, they were less standardised and samey than the stuff produced by the model railway companies like hornby and Lima. I can send you pictures of the current dapol packaging but it's also easy to find online It's basically all the old airfix line done in grey. I have some of the airfix in yellow in the blister packs which were early 70's I think?

He should be making a distinction between HO and HO/OO, HO always at a standard 13/16” height, and HO/OO a scale determined by the brow ridge of the figure. I had everything he was handling once, can’t say I was excited about the Guards Band or the Cowboys and Indians, but never saw canoes or the 105 gun…
The scale thing is a mess. We always used to call them 1/72 when I was a kid and it seem most people still do even though the boxes says ho-oo. Ho is 1/87 and was used by german model train makers and oo is 1/76 used by british model train makers. Then somewhere along the line people started refering to them as 1/72. Probably because they kinda fit with all the 1/72 scale models Airfix did.

As far as I know, only eight grey toys were issued; The Tiger, Panther, Elephant and Halftrack in grey only, and then T-34, DUKW, Landing craft and Truck variants, also available in green. The grey T-34 and landing craft are quite common, the DUKW and Truck less so. I was at the NEC toy fair this month and one dealer told me about a green variant of the Elephant. My heart fell. That's going to be expensive! Do you think I've missed any variants and do you think the green Elephant is a myth.....? I've nearly completed my collection of Matchbox 1/76 scale figures and orange/purple vehicle kits. Ping me if you need any information on those. 👍
I have never heard of a green Elephant but maybe there was one. I´m realy no expert on Airfix I just collect and learn on the way. I´m trying to save up to go to either NEC or Sandown. Sandown is easier to get to flying in from Sweden but NEC seem like a better fair. Are the kits with dioramas the orange/purple?
Yes the orange and purple vehicle kits have dioramas. The purple ones were smaller and cheaper. I think NEC was 550 or 600 dealers. Sandown is about 500, so should still be good. See you there!
Elefant only in grey NOT in green (would like to be proved otherwise! but in collecting Airfix for 20+ yrs I have NEVER seen one so I doubt if they exist)
"Grandpa....why are you crying. Is it because you were in the company of heroes during WW2?" "No, it is because I am looking at my little heroes when I was at your age in TH-cam"

@@toysoldiernostalgia That would make for an interesting watch. I would like to see something like that. An expensive alternative would be to commission an artist to recreate the images in their entirety. Whilst I personally find the Blue Edge Box artwork more appealing, there is a certain charm to the First Edition Window Box artwork. Whatever you do, I right with you.
@@toysoldiernostalgia I tried passing this along and thought the information had been seen - as a response to your video showing the car race track with the misplaced stickers, I recommended looking into a product called "Un-Do" which can safely lift/remove almost all adhesive-based tapes, stickers, decals from a surface. It is safe and does not stain. Great for collectors to remove tape and stickers from cardboard, plastic, or any surface. A bonus is that they can be reused after removing and lifting off stickers! The adhesive re-tacks once the Un-Du evaporates, allowing you to reposition them. You can look up many videos demonstrating it being used. Find it online, available from online outlets

@@rossobantam Thank Christ for that. Mission accomplished.
❤❤❤😮😮😮 wow...
It was pretty darn cool opening all these :)
"Grandpa....why are you crying. Is it because you were in the company of heroes during WW2?" "No, it is because I am looking at my little heroes when I was at your age in TH-cam"
LOL
if I was going time travel some 45 years back, and I got all these, I'm not going out of the house for one week. Give me the proper paints, add another week to that.
Comment se procurer et acheter ces colis très intéressants. Merci.
Ebay.
Hi, I have a book from a Norwegian autor called "Airfix mobiliserer" 130 pages, only for figures, do you know about that book?
No never heard of. Interesting. What´s the authors name and I´ll try to look for it?
Watching this while my wife is having girls' night out 😅
Wondering who´s having a better time :)

I wonder if AI is up to the job of filling in the First Edition HO/OO Scale Box Artwork. Somehow I doubt it.
I´m thinking about trying AI for that.
I almost didn't recognise you, beard-less!!
The beard comes and goes depending on the mood :)
@@toysoldiernostalgia 😃👌
could you use AI to fill in the missing part of the artwork ?
I have tried but haven´t gotten it to work yet. But I think it will not be long before AI can work it out.
Un-Du would have saved, and prevented the damage!
What is that?
