The Lighted Man and Ski Ballet - February 2023 Routt Recap

February is known to be the longest, snowiest month in Routt Count, and 2023 was no exception. Most days were a powder days on the mountain and the sun was rarely out. Despite all the fun activities the snow brings, the winter can be hard on locals. To bring a little cheer to the heart of winter, the Winter Carnival was created. Since 1914, locals and visitors gather each February to celebrate the winter season. Skijoring, the night extravaganza, and soda pop slalom are some of the most well-known events. This year, a new event was added, ski ballet. Once an Olympic event, teams and indicates showed off their ballet moves while on skis, which might be my new favorite event! Winter Carnival is one of the best weeks in Steamboat, and who doesn't love the Lighted Man!
