guys, this was HIS line of the winter. you have no idea how he felt up there. that may have been his favourite line he took. some of y’all have never skied powder like that and it shows!
@@nicokellerman1648 You know my nickname telestix is a brand of telemark skis right? Oh and you know what telemarking is correct? When I want an easy day I will downhill otherwise I tele (telemark) 99% of the time and will tele anything you want to downhill or snow board.
Would be something that could be considered if the climbing was for some big drops but nope just climbing to more carved turns. That being said for this skier it probably was his line of the year. That was some epic turns for personal enjoyment!
Where exactly do you ski? Traversing and climbing is a part of skiing big lines in powder. No one goes to japan to straight line untracked powder like it’s the east coast on a 6 inch day.
They are jelous because they have not the line of the winter, they are not in japan and dont even have a girl. They are alone on a sofa with a bier looking this wonderful video. By my side i can only hope meeting even just once this winter such a beatiful snow.
@@adamleitner8564 I agree, while there were more extreme lines in that season (now more than yrs ago xd). It was still one of the most satisfying to watch. The fluffy powder just releases that sweet dopamine and he skies nicely through it. A real nice line through trees and such. Maybe not spectacular in any extraordinary fashion but still brilliant :D
Was thinking the same thing I went to morzine (lez gets) afew days ago skied for the first time. these guys make it look so easy when in reality it’s hard it’s probably scary as fuck where he was Aswell don’t slate the man because he slowed down and stuff he’s clearly a good skier and knows what he’s doing
Jagger Grace if you were there it would of been the most exiting thing you’ve ever done. the video does not do it justice nothing beats snow and mountains all around you
Most of the comments talking shit about this guy have probably never been skiing in their life. Guarantee they have never been back country. The guy was clearly playing it safe, he didn't know the area well. Only an idiot would hit cliff drops without knowing the run beforehand. Most of these people hating on the guy would actually die if they ventured into the back country lol.
Also seems like he is alone, which is even more reason not to go big. You don't want to find yourself with a broken leg, alone in the back country lol. Better hope you have reception ;)
LengPeng couldn't agree more well said bro! They don't understand backcountry skiing at all, they think it would be all about big jumps and aires ,they do not understand the beauty about riding through fluffy snow and they do not know how dangerous this sport can be.
Yeah the line was awesome in my opinion. Not insanely difficult or technical but a beautiful area and amazing snow. He was the first set of tracks in the whole area as well which tells you that it is not a well known area... Even the difficult back country runs usually have at least 3 or 4 other lines going through (usually a whole lot more)! I think it's one of those things that you have to have done yourself to appreciate, that run is the sort of run you dream about finding.
LengPeng, I was thinking exactly the same. This is actually a run I could do myself, surely not as fluent as he did, and I don´t know why this should take anything away from it. To me, I can relate much more to such a forest run than to a 10m cliff dropp I would never do anyway. Besides, I don´t know what these people´s problem is, he rode it pretty fast and smooth anyway. I agree most of them never went to the backcountry.
I like it. It's a much more mellow line then what you usually pick. But thats kind of why I like it. Besides a few parts it almost seems to be a fun line for anyone who loves powder. Great pick!
Unique, but nothing like Blaine Gallivan's line at Jackson Hole. I did not see anything that most good skiers wouldn't be able to handle. I don't get it.
I'm a little confused about how they mention no editing is allowed for this contest, but wouldn't speeding up sections of the video be considered editing? Other than that, this is one of the better submitted videos I've seen for this year!
Can anybody tell me why i find it hard to ski on deep snow/powder ? I find it so hard to turn and im also scared to , maybe its harder since when i ski there i go extremely SLOW
Segundo Kroll and buy free riding skiiers rossignol soul 7 or super 7 are pretty great the tips are pretty light so you go faster and on the backside you have half tips! I have the rossignol soul7 skiiers and they are pretty awesome. But do not underistimate them they are big and huge mine are 1,80 in The length and 13 centimeter in the width
The last part was pretty good 2:50 A few tempting jumps, or that ridge in particular, but seemed like a first personal descent, maybe didn't know the outcome or it was bad. Too bad the camera slipped at the end and he didn't continue
Pepe Yeah Japan has some great mountains , I had the choice between one year Japan and one year Canada but I decided to go to Canada because I simply can't speak japaneas that good.
Anyone dissing on this video is outing themselves as having ZERO off-piste skiing experience. Your big video segments you love so much are shot with spotters above, spotters below, and a heli. This is what backcountry skiing looks like when you're out on your own. Careful and methodical.
So many people get to ski/ride stuff like this they barely even think anything of it, yet if I could go riding in a place like this onece I'd remember it for the rest of my life.
Daryl Cronin yeah. Like. This is impressive for someone who’s been skiing for like 5 years or so. But there are some nice ass runs out there and this just wasn’t one of them
Beautiful video, thanks for taking us along for the ride. Seems to me like this was a more natural and impromptu line than most. Most LOW vids you can tell they've skied the line and hit the features already. This video was almost all first tracks.
Sometimes in the moment you just want to do everything and that's what I feel this guy is going through. Generally I don't regret picking one line and just bombing it even though there's always going to be that feeling of "shoulda, coulda, woulda?". If your actually a free-ride skier you should feel me ;)
guys, this was HIS line of the winter. you have no idea how he felt up there. that may have been his favourite line he took. some of y’all have never skied powder like that and it shows!
It says GoPro line of the winter
Wyatt Mitchke i believe their sponsored riders each send in a video of their favorite line. it’s not for all of go pro.
@@maddieoo9287 yes it is. the description says "Entry: #088"

the powder... ITS SO FLUFFY

Jeffrey Kim i
oh how i wish i could now
Its called snow
nice powder, some nice turns not sure that this is "line of the winter" material.
Brian M true but it’s till a cool line
none of the lines are lol

traverse of the winter...
Trent McCann you gave me a laugh.
yes.
Agree, this thing was painful to watch. After 30 seconds I kept saying "something sick's gotta be coming up" ... weak
far to much stop starting and climbing to be considered a line

Wrong
Where exactly do you ski? Traversing and climbing is a part of skiing big lines in powder. No one goes to japan to straight line untracked powder like it’s the east coast on a 6 inch day.
I didn’t even know it snowed in Japan
Sick line dude. Slough can't keep up. People who've actually skied that kind of line know just how badass that is.
its such a fucking nice feeling. i luv it

so many airs you just avoid whyyyy

very beautiful line
standard back country slow hike traverse with final drop but with really good snow of the winter
such beautiful snow and light ! Gorgeous run
Skip to 2:45 that's the actual entry the rest is filler
Great snow- looks like fun. Like in a previous vid go pro mount folding in half after an air!
how utterly perfect does that snow look! - wow!
Surprised theirs no partner in sight - probably explains the lack of hucking. Solo always = conservative
Must feel amazing up there! Good stuff!
how could this be line of the year?

ive skiied in Hakuba before and is very hard cos is so powdery

I think they put in the speeding up/slowing down themselves at gopro
+Downhill D Miller No, it's not editing. It's still a single line. The "no editing" is to ensure that people don't compile multiple lines.
I was like „yeah, I can do this“

Go faster and lean a bit further back, so the tips of your skis lift up out of the snow. that way you'll be skiing on top of the snow, not through it

how easy is it to win line of the winter these days

+PARKOUR MASTER What makes you think this won?
where exactly is this at Hakuba?

+FunForWill I would have guessed the same. In that area between 47 and Happo One
How does he walk so fast on skis?
Hakuba!!! I've been there!
Skied not exactly the same line as this MAD MAN but more sane, normal runs. The snow was equally great.
what is that?
