I love how Jiminy interviews stars like Nathan Lane with extensive resumes in theatre or film, and reserves his best praise for the TV commercials they've done: "Because NO ONE looks in the mirror and says, 'I have a cold' and makes me believe it, like Nathan Lane!"
Perhaps the most divine moment I ever had in a theatre was in 2006, when Martin Short staged his one-man play, Fame Becomes Me, on Broadway. Every performance he featured a surprise celebrity guest and that day it was Nathan Lane. Watching these two geniuses riff off one another for twenty minutes was absolute, unforgettable comedy gold. Thanks for sharing this.
I appreciate that Nathan Lane acknowledges the "Matthew and Modine" joke with a laugh. Most interviewees either don't react much, or their reaction is otherwise edited out.
How about the quick follow-up when Lane notes that the kids' names all start with M, and Jiminy reacts like that never occurred to him before! "The FOUR Ms! Oh . . . that's right." 2:07
I've recently rediscovered these old interviews. I think they went over my head back when this was coming out fresh. I especially love the joke at 2:45 where he says it's a thing you have to hook on, and you can hear the crew laughing in the background
If you missed it, check out Kimmel Live for the July 4th week in 2024 - Martin hosted while Kimmel was on vacation but then Jiminy showed up to host the last couple nights I believe. Jiminy still got it.
The sheer amount of volume that Glick can produce is enough to shock almost any guest, and you can totally see Nathan wince when he trumpets out everything he says XD

These Glick interviews are great entertainment! I love the fact that Martin interviewed his two co stars in The Three Amigos-Steve Martin and Chevy Chase-as Jiminy. That is still one of my favorite movie, Martin Short is so funny and I watched many of his movies when I was younger. Who remembers Inner Space?!
thanks Josh im only going to upload ones that are significantly bad quality on YT that need upgrading, i still have a few left and im searching my video VHS archive for more
@@DarrenGlen I actually just found out about these gems and I've been hooked. I couldn't even tell you what Martin Short is known for besides this. Its just great improv comedy. Thank you!
Martin Short is so good as Jiminy, he literally disappears and all you see is the character. I hope he is given an honorary Oscar if not an outright Oscar at some point. If I wrote down all of my favorite moments of Jiminy Glick this post would 100 pages long.
Nathan certainly turned this around … he’s making Martin Short do the improv. How’s your wife, by the way? His wife Dixie and four sons, Morgan, Mason, Matthew and Modine, the twins are wonderful. Love it. What a hoot!
My favorite part is I think it’s so hard for them not to laugh not only because the character is so funny, but Bc all the guests know Martin so it’s probably ten times harder to take it seriously when you know the guy in the fat suit and see his eyes and shit like that’s still their friend to them so it’s probably way harder then it would be if it was someone who didn’t know he was a character
your comment cracked me up. just how jiminy was so appreciative of the least interesting of this actor's achievements and kept harping on it, i'm sure he would do the same again. i don't know if nathan lane would be able to tolerate it a second time.
@@frivolityrestores9608 I can see it in my mind's eye-- As soon as the greeting is over Jiminy launches right back into more detailed questions about the Nyquil Commercial. And only the Nyquil commercial

In all likelihood, as he is a comedian, nothing makes Short happier than making people laugh. And Nathan laughs so much here, I expect Short enjoyed this very much.

I honestly think the Jiminy Glick character is one of the greatest comedic creations ever.
This character reminds me of Trump at his annoying best.
100% true!!! My favorite of all time :)
@@mrpaulbaby I thought this also. Except Trump is not likeable.
Smarter, thinner and better looking than trump.
I would say at this time I think he's second only to Mr. Bean.
I have never seen Nathan Lane so genuinely entertained as he is here

Martin Short has go to be one of the greatest, naturally gifted entertainers to ever live.
His timing and intonations are second to none
I was watching his Ed Grimley clips recently, OMG he was so insane as that character LOL.
East there
I love him, and, strange enough, I love everything about him BUT his movies... :D
I haven't seen the Martin Short one
This one is my favorite. Nathan’s laughter is so genuine!
I'm crying right along with him!
This is Martin at his absolute best. Nathan Lane is the perfect foil...so good natured and without a hint of ego.
This is one of the funniest Glick interviews. I laughed all the way through.
agreed I just had a much needed belly laugh.
Q: With a superb actor, how can you distinguish between a genuine reaction and pretense?
A: You can't.
I see Jiminy, I glick.

"Back to the NyQuil commercial..."
“Mine is more of a thing that you hook on”
Martin Short is sooo quick!
Nathan is so sweet and genuine. He's absolutely adorable.
"Is it like a Bobby DeNiro, where you're the whole day the meerkat, or just when they rattle the money in front of you?"
SUCH A GREAT LINE
Martin Short is so quick. So good. All this is so impromptu and he catches it and runs w/ all these things and he never breaks character.
I’m waiting for the day when Jiminy interviews Matthew Modine and talks about Matthew and Modine.

“Was he swerving on the stage all the time? Spewing ooooooldd boooze from his breath?” Hahahahha
Nathan is such a great assist man for Jiminy
This one is really great. They play so well off of each other. Nathan is just as in the moment as Jiminy is. They are really having a great time.

Martin has so much respect for a fellow stage performer.

Also Nathan and Marty have the funniest scenes in “only murders in the building”
It really is a power, an incredible gift. To be able to make the most seasoned comedians and actors in the world laugh, almost at will.
Nathan Lane seems like such a lovely bloke - it's so great to see him reduced to giggles by the wonderful Martin Short.
OMG, thank you. The original VHS upload wasn't the best quality. This one, as Jiminy would put it, is wonderful!
