Very few comics could pull this off. He knows he's pretending to be someone else. They know he's pretending to be someone else. The temptation would be for the person being interviewed to try and throw him off his game, but he is so quick witted that he's able to retort anything they throw at him and maintain character.

Martin is an absolute genius. We throw that term around too freely, but he truly lives up to it. Just amazingly quick and clever.
