    I had an 900SS IE which is absolutely the 2001 equivalent to this bike and it was amazingly versatile, comfortable hitting the canyons and also doing 300 miles in a day bay-LA. Sounded beautiful, great torque and street powerband. I'm so glad they reintroduced the SuperSport line, may have to snag one in the future.

    It's a bummer it'll have no place in club racing given it's displacement/4 valve layout. Sure look like it'd be a ton of fun on the track and backroads.

    This is not a bad bike, but there are 4 glaring issues with it: 1. It's way overpriced, 2. Engine heat is a problem, 3. The mirrors are useless, and 4. The dash is outdated, especially, again, considering the price. Also, it' not clear exactly what this bike would be ideal for: If you want to go hardcore sport touring with a pillion and luggage, the Multistrada 950 is a much better alternative for the same price, plus, you can even go off road a bit on the Multi if you want to. On the other hand, if you want a true sportbike, you can pay a tiny bit more and just get the Panigale 959. Furthermore, if you just want a fun street bike for everyday use, there's the Monster 821 that does everything the SuperSport does but for a lot cheaper (I'm not even getting into the Hypermotard as an alternative). So, this bike is seriously overpriced, isn't really that capable, and doesn't really fit in with the rest of the Ducati lineup. I guess this bike is only for someone who thinks that they absolutely need a fully faired yet relaxed-ish Ducati that mimics a Panigale?! In my opinion, Supersport is just a good looking, pointless experiment

    I wish they would have made it more of a balanced sport tourer, I'm sure there are plenty of people that think the Multistrada is incredibly hideous even though they did a good job dressing it up. I would be a bunch of those people would prefer to have a Ducati over a BMW if they would match their electronic prowess... more passion and feistiness would be nice. BMW didn't nail the category either.... they have the 1200RS and S1000XR... not really any good sport tourer there ... the F800GT looks pretty good but that is so base they intentionally don't include the dynamic ESA which irks me tremendously that they hold back. If you want something that is sporty, sexy, and passionate sounding but can hold enough luggae to tour, get groceries, or do some serious daily/commuting work there isn't really a great choice. If you threw together a sport bike, tourer, and scooter and took those attributes that make them good you'd have a great all around sport tourer in my opinion... I don't know why they can't nail that. I guess the R1200RS is the closest thing but it's such a funky bike... really wanna pay 25K or more for it? I don't think so... I know you could mod a Honda or Kawi or something but you can't really mod the BMW engineering and electronics into them. I'm excited for the Honda Neowing to come out!!

    A bike with integrated bags and a sort of reasonable looking pillion seat should have a remote hydraulic preload adjuster. Kawasaki figured that out with the Ninja 1000.

      Oh my lord...it's a sport touring bike... Not only that it's 14k and some change for a loaded bike that comes with OHLINS for Christ sake... The base model is 12k.
      You only got one other choice in the sport touring segment if you want a DEDICATED ST bike and that's the GSX 1000F.....
      You guys are going to have to stop this Nonsense.. Not all of Ducati bikes are overpriced... but I can name you one Japanese Manufacturer who is.... Honda... From top to bottom...

      You guys need to get a new thing to harp on. I'm at 14k miles and it's had the 600 mile service, 8k mile service, and a check engine light when it was new that was investigated and corrected for free. So far it's required less service than any of my other bikes. Hell, Skyhook is compensating as the fork oil ages. Didn't get that on my CBR600.

    I really wish they targeted the Hypersport niche. Busa's and ZX-14s are so dated, H2 is the only thing relevant in the category. Now that Ducati dropped the ball there is only KTM who might be up for it.

    Wanted to know what the s is like on the street which it is what it’s intended for mostly,this review seems to imply that s is for track and none s for the street which is wrong they both have same engine/power just the s has more expensive suspension/brakes and quick shift so more expensive.

      i think weve reached a conclusion

    • @Texarmageddon
      @Texarmageddon 7 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      A Rich man's what? Have you guys been in touch with Honda lately? Honda has pretty much superseded most of the market in pricing. The DLX and the Base model Supersport are practically the same price.
      for $200 more... that's an extra 10hp and NEARLY 20ft lbs of torque. In addition, the SS weighs less than the VFR800 by 66 pounds!!
      You could argue well the VFR800 has an adjustable seat and heated grips in the DLX model... Well, you get riding modes, power modes, adjustable windscreen, and anti-theft all in standard equipment with the base model Supersport...
      Now I could see your argument if you were talking about the base model VFR800, but I still.... I'd pay that extra 2k difference in a heartbeat.... VFr800 already has higher maintenance cost of your standard Triples, inlines, and twins anyway... If I'm going to pay damn near Ducati maintenance prices might as well be in one.
      FYI, I'm an avid VFR800 lover.. I had an 06 model before I wrecked it... Now I have an 04 VFR800 and a 10' VFR1200... There is just no way I can call the VFR800 a sensible man's ducati... Not even...

      @CBRboy1717 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @Trollygag

  • @exothermal.sprocket
    @exothermal.sprocket 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I think it's going to sell loads. It's a nice return to the every day sportbike.
    BUT......Ducati should have given it a dual headlight cat-eye front, something sharp and elegant with a clear design. This is hideous and fussy.

    I was at the dealership picking up my new ST3 this weekend, and another guy who was shopping for a new bike took one of these on a test ride. He comes back 20 mins later and his entire expression was a huge WTF.
    The Supersport doesn't have good power or power band for its weight. The heat coming off the motor is immense. It's greatly over priced for what you get, and is basically a mortgage note to own, insure and maintain. Ducati likes to pose as the Ferrari of sport bikes. They're more like Maserati. In other words over priced, unreliable name badge junk. The Supersport S is over $17,000 out the door! A rip off!

      Sorry I have a mate who's mutistrada is more in the shop than on his drive, and last year I was looking for a monster 1200 put out some forum messages and got loads of links to known problems, so yes I concede tons more reliable than they used to be, but even MCN long term tests on Ducatis bear out they still have more problems than most other makes. If you can live with that fine you will have a sweet handling, pretty bike, enjoy it. But have a plan b as well.

      David Hardstaff don't worry, you're right about ducatis still. Grew up my whole life around them and have mates who still buy them, costs them lots of money still for repairs..its all about the image and ducatis image of 'high performance top product'.
