Yeah, not a bad place to go. All part of our Hanoi day trip including mausoleum and other locations. Bespoke Hanoi city tours also possible, Norwegian guy did one on his own yesterday. www.travelagenthanoi.com/vietnam-day-tours/hanoi-day-tours/👍🏻 😂 Shameless plug. Cheers mate.
I love the architecture and those bonsai wish I had room for one and it’s definitely not complete without those ponds. One thing that made me kind of sad it’s now called Vietnamese calligraphy instead of our current written language. 👍🍻🍻
The new Vietnamese calligraphy ( Thu Phap ) is totally different from the ancient Vietnamese calligraphy ( Chu Nho ) that uses Chinese characters. The new Vietnamese calligraphy is actually the current Vietnamese writing , using the Latin alphabet , but the letters are written with fantasy like a sketching . The Vietnamese people can easily read and understand it , but not the old Vietnamese calligraphy . It`s like Latin vs French or Italian . Nowadays , not many Westerners can still read and understand Latin . The calligraphers ( ong Do ) at the temples and pagodas in Vietnam are always able to write both new and old calligraphies for the customers at their request .
The stones on the turtles are not grave stones . They are built to engrave the name of all the graduate scholars with a doctorate degree of this university from the 15th to the beginning of the 19th century , before the capital city of VN was moved from Hanoi to Huê in 1802 under the Nguyên dynasty . In VN the turtle is the symbol of longevity , that means the honor dedicated to those graduate scholars will last for ever to the posterity . They are called BIa Tiên Sy in Vietnamese which means Doctorate Stelae . Next time you should hire a tour guide , so he would give you more interesting information about this temple . Before the pandemic this historical site was one of the Must Visit spot for tourists in Hanoi .
Thanks for the info, but I didn't take a tour guide because the channel is not for the sole purpose of giving you everything. We actually offer English speaking tour guides as part of a Hanoi City Tour with the mausoleum and others all included. He or she will give you an in depth knowledge of all sightseeing destinations within Hanoi and throughout Vietnam The main aim of this TH-cam channel, to generate business, not deliver all info!!!! Thanks. www.travelagenthanoi.com
Great video short and to the point just enough to make you want to see more of the place.
Cheers Michael. Wasn't going to bother publishing but it's hopefully another opportunity that may bring in some business.
It's a great place, it rained when I was there but still the gardens and pristine nature of everything was spectacular
