    When hiring a CPA be sure to select one that will look out for your best interest rather than the IRS’. Too many of them avoid legal deductions & strategies because they are afraid of an audit, or don’t know the rules well enough.

    You are absolutely right -- PMHNP here -- you have to be able to create firm boundaries around yourself because you are going to be hearing a lot of trauma and horrible things every day - you are getting paid to allow others a safe place to basically drop all their horror onto you and into that space - so that you can assist them. It is hard - money is good, but there is a reason it is good.

      HOW MUCH LONG TERM CHRONIC CARE PSYCH EXPERIENCE DO YOU HAVE? DO YOU HAVE A LONG TERM INPATIENT PSYCH HOUSPITAL NEAR ME THAT TYPICALLY HOUSES THE SEVERE MENTAL HEALTH CASES IE- PSYCHOTIC/MOOD DISCORDERS- SCHZIOPHERNIA, SCHZIOAFFECTIVE DISORDERS, BIPOLAR MANIC TYPES ETC ETC. I AM ASKING THIS BECAUSE.....F YOU DO NOT HAVE A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF YEARS UNDER YOUR BELT BEING... INPATIENT AND OUTPATIENT PSYCH EXPERIENCE THIS IS NOT RECOMMENDED. PSYCH PROVIDER WORK IS NOT FOR THE BOOK SMART- IT TRULY TAKES 5-10 YEARS EXPERIENCE BEFORE ONE SHOULD EVER CONSIDER PRIVATE PRACTICE- OTHERWISE YOU WILL GET SUED.. BTQ- I AM A NURSE PRACTITIONER AND I ALSO WORK AS A ADVANCED PRACTICE LEGAL NURSE CONSULTANT- MEDICAL MALPRATICE AND MEDICAL NEGLIGENCE CASES ETC ETC. NOTHING PISSES ME OFF MORE THAN REVIEWING CHARTS AND SEEING SHITTY MEDICATION COMBINATIONS AND CRAPPY FOLLOW UP. PEOPLE ARE COMMITING SUICIDE AT RAPID RATES IN THE UNITED STATES AND YOU WILL BE THE FIRST TO BLAME SO BE CAREFUL AND KEEP IT LOW AND GO SLOW! BEST WISHES TO YOU!! XOXO.

    Love your content! Definitely do not go into the field for money. I started with being a Psych Tech for 3 years before going to nursing school and as soon as I was done with nursing school I became a Psych RN at the hospital near me. Patients can be violent to the nurses and psych NPs or psychiatrists. Some providers get concussions from these patients. It definitely is not as glamorous as people think. I am in psych NP school now and can't wait to be done and start that journey

    Thank you for this video. I'm working as a PMHNP-BC and as an AGNP-C presently...same company. It's hard doing both, but I love it. Taking care of God's people is my passion. When I first finished my PMHNP-BC, I opened my own practice...almost two years ago.I kept it open for one year. It was too much for me, doing it solo. I'm working, in my PMHNP-BC role, one day a week; however, I know I'm not being utilized to my full capacity and know I'm not being paid what I know I am worth. I'm looking to do more and expand. Relocation is not a probelm for me, as I don't have any holds in this area. All my children are grown and I'm not married. I just have to figure out which way to go. Thank you for this video. It helped me a lot! Blessings to you!

    Thank so much for being transparent with pay and pros and cons for of the job! Look into also into getting an S Corp in addition to your LLC. When you pay yourself through an LLC, you are taxing yourself as a worker at a high rate. If you run payroll through your corporation (S Corp), and you are listed as the business owner and employee, youre taxed at a much lower rate and have more writing off power. Something to ask your CPA about! We’re also a high earning income family and made a dramatic difference in the amount of quarterly taxes we were paying. We’re also in FL. Love your channel

    What a great and transparent video. Thank you for putting out this video and giving some insight to question I always wondered about. I’ve always loved mental health and a reason I decided to do nursing since 2008. Started off as a home health tech, to a cna, registered nurse focused in psych, and just passed my board exam. Money was never a motivator but great to see that it’s there to make me have financial freedom. Private practice is the endgame for me so thank you for this information.

    Hi Angel, I discovered you recently and I so appreciate your direct and honest delivery of knowledge that you share with us aspiring PMHNPs. It is so inspiring; and, you are so funny while doing it!
    Since my 20s I have been interested in this field because I have had profound success in treating my own depression and anxiety with medication, as well as then becoming capable of learning ways to be healthy with therapy as my depression is treated enough to allow me to focus on the larger context.
    The idea of helping people find their own voice so they can then move on from their trauma and or psychiatric disorders is very appealing to me. The positive effect these drugs can have on the shifting of awareness can be life-changing.
    I would like to incorporate some targeted psychotherapy in my practice. Is that something you have any thoughts on with respect to the PMHNP role?
    At age 35 I got my BSN as a second career with this goal in mind. At age 42, after working bedside and some hospice for 7 years, I have finally applied to PMHNP school! I am very excited for this journey.
    Good luck on your private practice journey! That is my ultimate goal.

    I haven’t watched this video all the way through yet. So I should probably save this comment but anyway here we go. We work for money. It’s not all about the money I understand that but we work for money let’s not for get that. I will play golf for free I’ll chill with my friends for free I’ll do anything I enjoy for free. But honey trust me I won’t ever work a day in my life for an employer for free. I truly understand it’s not about the money it is however nice to know what to expect and that’s what has brought most of us to your video. Maybe I took the beginning of your video a little too personal and I’m sorry but I had to say my peace.

    • @angelthepsychnp253
      @angelthepsychnp253  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can always make money you can do tons of things to make money. But at what cost are you willing to make money is the important question right? why do something you don’t wanna do for money? granted you might not want to go to work everyday but you have bills. My point is this can be a mentally draining field listening to people talk about their trauma and no amount of money is worth your own physical and mental health.

    I want to say this for those going to nursing school for money and not the passion, YOU WONT MAKE IT! You’ll either end up losing your license, never working as a nurse, experiencing 3yrs of the work and opting out, or failing school. Failing school comes in number one place because nursing school is not easy, and opting out after 3 yrs is number two, that is the research on it. It’s a lot of professions that make money. I feel like it’s the same with nursing, a lot of people go into it with bright ideas but not liking it and switching to something else
