    Good information. But I think I prefer the motorcycle carrier with the larger base and straps

    I have this MX Hauler and I really like it but the bottle jack goes dead after about 10-12 uses. Have to buy a little replacement from sears or lowes or wherever. Only costs about $20 and its easy to replace but the aftermarket bottle jacks are a bit taller and it doesn't allow the platform to come down as far as it did which means i have to muscle my 245 lb dirt bike up another inch or two more

      Mike Schumaker - I ran into that issue too. It would start leaking oil. This is my third bottle jack. A friend told me to put a little ATF in the bottle jack. It worked! The seals will swell slightly and it will work again. Make sure you bleed it. The bottle jack I have now has had no issues for 3+ years.

      Automatic Transmission Fluid.

      Another option is once you have the bike up with the safety pin on is to release the jack pressure.

    Hey - curious. I’m looking at the same hauler but the company says I need a wedge for a ktm or beta. Do you have one on your ktm? It is a piece that bolts to the carrier. Thx.

    • @djenn1969
      @djenn1969  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I know it's two years later... But no I did not use the KTM/Beta wedge. The wedge would level the bike out, since KTM frames are not parallel with the ground. I never had a need for it.

    What about a heavier bike that weighs 280 wet. its a ktm 525exc. just worried about that weight being up so high. debating between this and a joe hauler ramp type. thanks

    • @djenn1969
      @djenn1969  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      There is a 375lb weight capacity on the current MX Hauler. You should be good. I have done 1000 mile road trips with this. No issues over 5 years, other than I've had to replace 2 bottle jacks.

    Is there enough clearance for access to your camper with the bike secured?

    • @djenn1969
      @djenn1969  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can open the door on the truck cap. It clears the handlebar. There is enough room that I can get in the back if I need to, but it's not easy. The tailgate will not drop down.

    Hey great carrier, is there any chance you could kindly share the specs with me? As I would like to build one for myself (unfortunately in Uruguay we don’t have that)

    • @djenn1969
      @djenn1969  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That might get me in trouble. I am not associated with MX Hauler, and I wouldn't want to step on the work they did to develop this product.

      I did that video in a particular way to explain the loading function to a very detail oriented, retired mechanical engineer... The reality is that I can load my bike in a minute or two - Drop the hauler lift the bike on, secure the footpads, secure the handlebar strap, lift the hauler.

    • @ngzcaz
      @ngzcaz 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@djenn1969 That may be, but this device requires someone to drag the bike sideways to load it. Not everyone can do that, especially with a heavy bike.. Glad it works for you though.

    • @MrBeefsnorkel
      @MrBeefsnorkel 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ngzcaz its no different than slapping your dirt bike on a dirt bike stand to lube the chain or change the oil. in fact the platform is exactly the same and the method to get it on the platform is identical to a dirtbike stand. if this is too much for you consider a trailer or see your doctor about your female tendencies

  • @clarktm1275
    @clarktm1275 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I would not trust that lift. Does not look safe at all!! Love your bike use a trailer.

    • @djenn1969
      @djenn1969  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I'd agree with you if you were right. I have used it for over 5 years now without incident. It locks the bike down in three places, and is far more secure than any tray system I have seen, because the suspension of the bike is not a factor in the tie down process. The tray is .125 steel. The pivots are .250 steel. . It is fully welded, no tacks. FWIW - I have two trailers I can use if I am hauling more than one bike.

      @@djenn1969 this reply right here is what made me decide to cough up the cash and buy the ultimate mx hauler. says it should be shipping monday which is a miracle in "these times". the reason your reply convinced me is im an auto mechanic by trade and you sound exactly like the engineers i've worked with. if someone like you is confident in it then im freakin sold
