    This came out 4 years ago, and peaked my interest with the ability to have a platform for coolers. My RTIC weighs a ton when fully loaded and I hate moving it in and out of the back of my truck. But looking at the website now, no other platforms appear available. Whats up with that?

    hi, what is the distance from the base to the hitch? I have a FJ Cruiser with the spare tire on the back door of the car and want to make sure my dirtbike wont be rubbing against it. By the video you showed with your truck with those spare tires looks like there is plenty space, but I got to ask and make sure, thanks

    That's a great looking hauler! I'd really like to see how much the bike moves around on slightly rougher roads. Any chance you might make a video illustrating that?

    Why would you use this system over a full rack with ramps??? Curious! It looks like more work.

    • @switchhauler2563
      @switchhauler2563  5 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      A quality Ramp is going to be 80 plus pounds. It's awkward to install just because of it's size and weight. When you install the Switch Hauler® Station it's small,
      about 35 pounds, then the rack another 20. Because you install them one after the
      other you're not lifting anything to break your back before you even load the bike.
      If you're not using the "The Foot" in many cases you don't even have to lift the
      bike. Many seasoned riders appreciate not having to lift their bike after a day of
      riding. The combination of the Foot Peg Restraints and the Straps hold the bike
      very solid without compressing the suspension. After you get home, the Switch
      Hauler® disassembles to a nice little package that stores under your tool bench
      instead of a rail type that takes half you garage wall to store. You can see a pic on
      the alljackedupinc.com website.
      Thanks for looking

      Also, by lowering the bike down, you can open the tailgate and truck shell door to get access to the interior of the truck without having to remove the bike.

      organize the international shipping. So the short answer is for us, not yet. Sorry

    What I would like to know is WHAT IS THE LOWEST POSITION HEIGHT? 12" 13" 14" ?

    • @switchhauler2563
      @switchhauler2563  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      John, it depends on your vehicle, the height of the receiver box. The rack used to be welded to the Connection Clip. We changed the design so the customer would have 2 height options. For the straight tongue version, if you use the upper set of holes, the rack will lower to approx, even with the bottom of the receiver hole. The lower option is about 2 inches lower. So it really depends on how high your receiver box is from the ground. From fully down to fully up is about 17 1/2 of lift.
      If you are using the 3 1/4" drop, which is popular with the trucks, then your lowest position would be that much less.
      Thanks

    • @johnwilliamson9453
      @johnwilliamson9453 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I wish my bike was as easy to lift as the one shown! Mine is almost $350#, so the platform has to be at or below the bike frame. This is definitely an improved design over the MX Hauler I had/sold.
      The bottom of my 4Runner receiver (opening) is 17.5", the top naturally is 19.5", so with each height option, what is the platform height in their lowest position?
      Thanks

    • @switchhauler2563
      @switchhauler2563  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@johnwilliamson9453 John, IF the bottom of the box is 17.5" the rack will go down to approx 17.5" off the ground. However, if you use the lower set of mounting holes the rack will be approx 15.5" off the ground in the lowest position.
      Actually the real dimension is 1.75" difference between the two sets of holes but with all the ground variance suspension squish we won't talk about 1/4" increments. If you need another 2 inches lower we offer an extended Connection Clip that would drop it another 2" down. Lastly, you could start out with the 3.25 inch drop that would start you out even lower. Send me an email at alljackedupinc@gmail.com and I'll send you some pics and more info.
      Regardless, you have lots of options.
      Thanks

    Have you ever had the wing bolts work loose

    • @switchhauler2563
      @switchhauler2563  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We have not had an issue with that. If you know you're going on some really bad roads, we add a hole in the end of the wing that you could put a small bungee from one to the other. It's not an item that people order. Since they are made in house, you would have to replace it by ordering direct. It's just not something we see orders for or have any feedback that that's happened.

  • @arobjavan9481

    Why not design it so the plate goes all the way to the ground surface, so there would be no need to lift the bike.

    • @switchhauler2563
      @switchhauler2563  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      In that video, we had "The Foot" attached. The idea was to stop the rack at the height of a standard MX stand 16 inches. We no longer offer that option and actually give you a choice of 2 settings when you first set up the system. You can set the rack to go down to about even with the bottom of the receiver box or about 2 inches lower. Many cases you don't have to lift the bike at all. Keep in mind, there is 17" of lift, the lower you start, the less ground clearance in the fully up position. We also offer a "drop version" that lowers the unit about 3 inches.

    It still blows my mind that these guys and ultimate MX use this design when it would be so much simpler and reliable to use a screw mechanism or a toothed shaft and gear.

      Percy, in the video, because the camera is so close to the bike it blocks most of the view of the truck including the lights, however if you back up a bit the lights are no more obstructed than any other carrier, which is minimal.

      @switchhauler2563  6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Sorry, not so. Have you ever heard the term form follows function? Well some of the mechanism
      is similar due to the fact that you have specific constraints of the hydraulic jack. And a lever
      lifting mechanism is nothing new. The beauty of the Switch Hauler® is that it was designed
      from the beginning to be switched to different applications. Your comment is similar to looking
      at a bad a** mountain bike and saying you just put fat tires on a bike.
