Even if you hit with the dog another Survivor can release the one being grabbed. I feel like this decision was made by a dev who caught too many Deathslinger shots bagging at the exit gate.
Houndsense inflicting deep wound is so random. "My dog sniffed you, now I hurt you more" Houndsense should make it so survivors that are detected gets auto aimed by the dog when you use chase (like, the dog becomes a homing missile instead of a skill shot).
Imagine if they made search like Knights power. Send the dog out and if it catches someone itll chase them. Until you either recall it or get within 20m where Snug will return to you automatically. Also make the dog injure if they don’t pallet stun it or have another survivor help. It doesn’t even have to down. Make it deep wound if the dog hurts an injured survivor.

@averagejuliensblogenjoyer7449 the thing about knight is that he wasn't entirely Ai but of course in dbd fashion they somehow manage to fuck up the unfuckable lol
From what i saw in this game, at this point in time they need to avoid buffing or nerfing her kit. I think what they need to do instead right now is just FIX her. this was a solid game against good survivors, but bugs were hurting you like half the time it felt like. The killer needs to be fully functional before we have a full grasp on how good they are and to know if they even need changes. Buffs or nerfs now could significantly overcorrect once the bugs are patched.
A main selling point was petting an animal. Idk if they changed it but they won’t even let survivors punch or hit the demonic 90 pound monster dog mauling their team they just brush it away. But they can smash victor.
Redirect was working at the start, but the problem is the timing to use it, it's so fucking short after the dog ends the dash that you must use it immediately
Ive noticed ALOT of survivors letting the dog influence where they run. As if the dog can just walk over and get them instead of dodging it like a projectile and mantaining distance from the houndmaster.
it’s super frustrating in solo queue. i’ve had multiple teammates give up on almost-completed gens bc the dog sniffed them. like it can’t hurt you in search mode guys!!
I've been playing a lot of the Houndmaster and it's been interesting. No matter if I go against new, veteran or cheaters, I seem to have a decent match. Even on the games where I'm absolutely owned, which tbf is probably 30 - 50% of them. Getting to pet the dog is really nice too.
Make it so at the beginning, the hound automatically patrols the gens with an increasing detection range. If it detects a survivor, they become flagged as prey and the hound dashes to them. Make the hound auto-destroy pallet stuns like a freshly-teleported Singularity, and when it grabs the prey, it moris them. Make it so the hound can dash through bodyblocks for the grab, and have this trigger unique multi-moris that immediately effective on all survivors caught in the lethal dash to the prey. If the prey jumps into a locker, begin an animation where the hound digs into the ground and emerges from the locker with the prey, triggering the mori. And once the prey is killed, the hound's initial patrol begins again. But to make sure she gets out of F-tier and isn't so brainlessly easy to bully, the hound begins all subsequent patrols with a maxed out range (let's say 2,000 meter radius) on its detection. I know this won't put her on Nurse and Blight's level, and it doesn't address her terrible perk synergy or addons, but I think it could be a baseline and they improve her from there.
@salvadorelastname9095 I don't think this would be a bit OP. I don't think even Nurse is a bit OP, and she teleports through any obstacles. When you face a strong SWF, you will see that even with my buffs Hound Master is not OP. A SWF will run two together and use one person to vault back and forth in windows and pallets to prevent hound from taking vault shortcuts, and when it circles loops, the prey will use the vault for safety. Then you are M1 killer with no power and you could still lose easily.
I think a massive buff to her would just be making the second redirect be usable for a few more seconds. Other than that I think she is fine, not every killer needs to be S tier.
the reason the redirect sometimes doesn't work is because the redirect timer starts at the initial chase attack, NOT when the attack is completed. this is because you can redirect before the initial path is completed. a simple fix to this would be to have you be able to redirect during the chase, and also have a period after the completion to do so as well.
Increase redirect window basekit while moving from no seconds to at least 4 seconds Using Search paths mid chase definitely helps her play, definitely more rewarding that chase action and can be some mix if they don't know the whistle distinction
Okay but what if like since hound-sense is useless, it was changed so if a survivor is marked by it then you can have your dog sniff them out from anywhere, grabs them, and exposes them. And if someone jumps in a locker while being tracked, it works like victor does with the twins.
this killer is still m1 not meant to 4k efficient survs especially on map like ct. also houndmaster has roughly 2s window to prompt redirect before its gone its not bugged, once u prompt redirect u then have just over 3s to chase
i think one of the things they expect you to do with the killer is use the search feature in chase and loops as a means of speeding around the loop faster. but maybe it doesnt work the way i think it does
I have no opinion on how good or bad Houndmaster is when the power works correctly, but the bugged redirect not triggering definitely made a difference this match, it happened a bunch of times! If even half of those redirects had resulted in hits without the bug that could have been a lot of extra pressure.
I'm not sure how oppressive or inconsequential this would be, but I find myself wanting her to have an add-on that would increase the time window between the dog reaching the end of the first dash and coming back to you. That way she can sort of pressure the survivors into going in an area where the dog can catch them with the redirect.
that would be a meh perk. i feel like any more time would be good for the killer, but also hinder them a lot. more time to redirect also gives the survivor more time to get to safety. double edged sword maybe.
@usedhalfcart I haven't worded myself properly and I'll edit soon. I was referring to the time window that happens between the dog reaching the end of the first dash and him coming back to you. This means that you can sort of pressure the survivors by walking at them while the dog waits in place and when they're in a worse position, choose to redirect.
Maybe they should change the dog to have the same collision effect as the environment for interactable objects like chests, hooks, and pallets. Just feels bad when the dog can't go around them like everything else, especially at loops.
Apart from all the bugs and dysfunctionality, I think the dog should automatically face the closest survivor after the first chase, so when you redirect you start from that direction (similar to the hag Traps). That wouldn't be too OP, as surveys could still dodge it. Like Scott said... so much effort for minimal reward.
It is so much effort to right click and aim twice. Its really not. I have also only been playing hound master and Scott missed many easy dog shots in this match. Also her cool down is like nothing as long as the dog isn't crossmap on a search and or bugged out somewhere.
yeah i want more teams like this to figure out *how* to counter play and big brain them but have the time the best way to use dog is just the most obvious way, sent straight before loop or animation lock attacks.
They should make the redirect much more worth it considering how hard it is to connect. Either an exposed status effect or a directly a health state as if it was a huntress hatchet. Compare it to Wesker that instantly grabs people if they're downed, no need to pick up, or straight up one shot when infected, she doesn't hold compariso.
@@snewp_e2139 eh i think she's already better slinger and a better pinhead. her dog when it hits you almost always connect to a hit. slinger being 4.4 m/s and having wall-weakness makes him worse. Pinhead has more reliable chain but his chains break like 4X as fast as houndmaster. Pinhead has better tracking tool though. his chain hunt does reveal everyone position.
Is there something I'm missing with her? So somehow, I hugged the shack side with window to pallet at the corner, a bit farther to get into the doorway, I redirected and somehow hit the window side with a slide and and hit Nancy with the dog. I tried to replicate it and it wouldn't go window and always went to the other doorway opposite. I had no idea how that happened.
I think an add-on that would let you deploy the dog with chase mode longer would help. but yeah, she's a solid C if the power is working, and F- the rest of the time because of things where I tell the dog to path to a gen and then it just runs into one of the numerous trash piles that BHVR is keen on putting everywhere in maps these days and just...stays there for like three minutes
If you could just redirect within 2 seconds of sending the dog then you could actually use it for mind games and it would be fun. At this point it's just like sending out a little bad wesker with no egg addons who can't hug tech and gets stuck in corners.
She needs a longer redirect window, and the dog needs to move faster and not take a small amount of time to get up to speed. Currently Snug is just way too easy to react to. Also making Snug's cooldown start before he gets back to you would be a nice change. I feel like she has such high potential if they just give her some small buffs and make her less buggy. She's so fun to play when her power is actually working as intended.
I can't tell if there is a redirect bug, or if the dog just returns to you and doesn't allow you to redirect when you get within a certain distance of it.
I feel like I am genuinly going insane because this killer doesnt look or feel bad (in terms of strength). Like I am not claiming she is top tier or even high mid tier or anything. But certainly not terrible like Trapper Freddy and stuff. Whats really holding her back is Behaviour making their own life harder by attaching the cooldown and positioning of the bite command to a hard to programm dog ai. I think when there are no bugs the killer is pretty damn good at chasing. But again I could also just be going insane, because everyone is saying she is terrible 😭
Ok the pinhead in that last clip was bad and all but the long wall vault of that 4 lane chaining into that long wall jungle gym like that was fucking evil RNG
I’m confused! Scott has OPPRESSION and ERUPTION perks on do they work together? When you kick the gen do the extra gens get eruptions too when you down someone??
random nitpick but at the end when you were listening to see if they used Q&Q into a locker you could have checked by sending the dog out and redirecting. the killer instinct you get during redirect is a lot better for tracking than the actual tracking mode because of this imo lol
There is so much depth to this killer I've been playing alot of her and her dog is well yea buggy also is still pretty decent yes really quick flicks are the best way to do it but somtimes sitting in dog and just shooting so they run into you works alot you gotta play with there heads
It happens both ways, some killers just can’t compete against a 4man, just like a full soloQ team cannot beat an adequate Nurse/Blight they lack the communication and teamwork to compete.
Every now and then BHVR gets really timid with a killer and decides to give them an ok power but then throw the kitchen sink at it with counter play and ways how to make it totally useless. It's kinda like old singularity where it's a cool power idea but you can't use it cause EMPs where being given out like Halloween candy.
Very good game, you got some awesome shots, but yeah killer needs some QoL or Buffs, She is a decent mid pick if they just fix bugs. Also Dog can surprisingly play most pallets, like at 11:07, Dog remembers the direction he was going before vaults up to 90°, this can force survivors into getting zone out between a dog Bite or an M1, also makes for some spicy clip shots. However, watching someone play her without using search command is almost like watching someone play Clown Without yellows.
Shes still a horrible pick after bug fixes because her power is still going to effectively do nothing 9/10ths of the time. She just needs strong buffs and a nice patch
@xykane Considering with bugs (as people say currently) Scott landed way more than that, I say is more a skill issue on you if you are missing that much
Yea scott i am taking your advice and waiting until the devs buff houndmaster before i commit to getting her 😂. You played well though for all the suffering you endured ggs
I feel like they slowed her down waaay too much. Search feels like it doesn’t function like to should and railroads to the least optimal path… but at least it works. I stopped trying to use the dog for offense because it just flat out doesn’t work or you miss someone by a fraction of a pixel. Unfortunately because of her reduced speed, looping feels impossible too, and chases last minimum 3 minutes. I know she’s new and I could probably “get good” if I played 20 more games, but I’ve never had a Killer I had to play 10+ matches to get a good game with as Adept.
honestly you made the argument of her being comparable to trapper i honestly think this game would’ve been worse had it been trapper ngl because these guys had so much gen pressure holy
Honestly the redirect bug your running into might be because of how your throwing the dog at the vary moment you can. My best guess is the game still things you have it while at the same time the dog is currently not attached to you.
I find it so funny how behavior is willing to nerf thrill of the hunt quick but for houndmaster we have to wait for changes like damn man can they have the same type of urgency for most broken things?
This killer really looks like it's a modded character. I can picture some freelance programmer working on it after a lunch break and uploading it at Nexusmods or something.
Feel like a lot of gripes with this killer would at least be reduced in intensity if the damn power worked half the time. In this one video you already relayed several times being unable to redirect or the dog janking out and not going anywhere and I noticed when you did try to redirect and it didn't go, it still gave you reduced speed as if you were doing it.
It's just so baffling that devs would release this character in the state she's in... Is what I would say if I didn't know that it was BHVR. This is expected.
the fact you can go through hell and back to get a dog charge to land and then the dog can decide to mach 5 away from you or just get pallet stunned and make all the work you did irrelevant is why I simply will not touch this killer. why am I going through ten times more work for MAYBE a hit when I can just play Huntress and not have to bother about literally anything
I think that’s the problem with her, she seems cool and she’s pretty fun to play against but if they went overboard and giga buffed her she’d be miserable to go against lol like shes kinda a killer that seems she might “need” to be mediocre
Youre much better than I am, id have gone for the secure hook on the nea when she was on 2nd stage about to die. probably if you did that and some light camping at the end of it, you couldve gotten a win. still this killer really does not feel good to play
Yea my 5th game as her (with weak not meta perks) was against strong ru swf, with mcmillan map offering and strong items and meta perks. I think I did 7 or 8 hooks and got a "HAHAHAHAH ez ))))" in the chat after the game xD
The fact the dog can actively work against you by dragging someone away from you is one of the many reasons why I am avoiding this killer. Save your shards for something better.
To be fair, some stuff he called bugs doesn't seem like so, Like trying to use it as the survivor was going down the mount, a lot of killer powers don't go down those or elevations that big, other times I am sure he tried to redirect too late, maybe, as there is no Key display to know at what time he id hitting the redirect action.

It’s a darn shame this Killer is a mess. I really like the idea with a dog as a power but knowing BHVR with their AI inputs it was bound to be a mess.
@xykane Considering with bugs (as people say currently) Scott landed way more than that, I say is more a skill issue on you if you are missing that much
Everybody I hope we can all come together in the comments to appreciate 'that chest' and how much it contributes to our lives.
She would be much better if being grabbed by the dog prevented pallet throws. And if the slowdown for canceling power wasn't so punishing.
Hit some sick dogs there. A real pain it doesn't function half the time though.
They could do the dog like knight? Chasing survivors? Would be more realistic/better.
Your redirect was never bugged u just always pressed it at the last millisecond to when the option went away
Scene Partner is so fucking annoying. I'm happy I haven't run into it in too many of my games yet but even so I'm already tired of it.
Her chase music reminds me of Haunting Ground.
It's just so baffling that devs would release this character in the state she's in...
Is what I would say if I didn't know that it was BHVR. This is expected.
"im hiting pretty good dogs" would sound very different in another context 😅
the fact you can go through hell and back to get a dog charge to land and then the dog can decide to mach 5 away from you or just get pallet stunned and make all the work you did irrelevant is why I simply will not touch this killer. why am I going through ten times more work for MAYBE a hit when I can just play Huntress and not have to bother about literally anything
Scott when I play this video at 3x speed it’s hard to understand you
I think that’s the problem with her, she seems cool and she’s pretty fun to play against but if they went overboard and giga buffed her she’d be miserable to go against lol like shes kinda a killer that seems she might “need” to be mediocre
The dog is like nemesis zombies but he gets a pass cabs he so coot 😊
I actually loved that chest
I just wanna pet the dog without waiting for more then ten seconds
Loss of control is the worst feeling in DBD and gaming in general and holy shit I hope they stop adding killers that cause LOC.
this was 100 percent winnable you played too nice
Correct
The dog should inflict hemorrhage/mangled when it bites them
Give snug the Wesker treatment.

You only have 1 second to do the redirect; It's not a bug
no i know, i was pressing it well before 1 second. this is one of her 50 bugs
Probably the first dog I've ever genuinely hated
Youre much better than I am, id have gone for the secure hook on the nea when she was on 2nd stage about to die. probably if you did that and some light camping at the end of it, you couldve gotten a win. still this killer really does not feel good to play
Scratch marks have been kinda fucked lately, I've found. It seems they're more of a threat to my success than actual survivor play.
ScottJund hits 50% of dogs D:
Hiundmaster is hilarious on any map with stairs her dog just doesn’t work 😂
omg i know bennii, i think they were in a vc. bennii is quite good
Not a fan of Houndmaster, too many bugs.
It's a dog not bugs
To be fair, some stuff he called bugs doesn't seem like so, Like trying to use it as the survivor was going down the mount, a lot of killer powers don't go down those or elevations that big, other times I am sure he tried to redirect too late, maybe, as there is no Key display to know at what time he id hitting the redirect action.
@@rlizarragalopez4303 no shes just buggy lol. the dog literally runs into walls bro. shes janked.
You let the nea survive and heal like 3 or 4 times on death hook at 3 gens. If you had committed to her you probably would have won
probably, i try to 12 hook every game and usually can unless i get a good team like this
@@ScottJund True, its more accurate to say 'you probably would have 4k', because I think you won by having a fun close game!
i wish i could get 4 manned 😔
pause
This killer could injure houndsensed survivors with the dog and still be worse than artist
