  • CORRECTION!!!! With the Seasucker the Lube is only for pump maintenance DON'T use it on the rubber suction area just leave it dry or wet it with water no lube there. My Bad.
    Best GPS rugged dash mounting solutions: I have used digital Navigation for nearly nine years, and it's always a challenge to find a secure, robust dash mounting solution. Putting a screw into the dashboard or any of the Interior Plastics on my 4-wheeler is an absolute NO 😬. Because as everyone knows once you've done it that's it there's no going back. Otherwise excellent video Stefan. I've discovered a whole range of new brand's that I didn't even know existed. 👍🏼👍🏼

    The mob armor ones seem pretty good, it has even been holding my tablet using just the phone mount one on long remote trips. Both havent fallen off yet.

    I use a Samsung Tablet and have the Ram Tablet mount designed for that model and it has been on the roughest Googs Track traverse I have ever done - it is great. I use my X mount for my phone only but will be looking at the wireless charging back plate along with the Seasucker for the windscreen - thanks!

    I’ve used Quadlock phone mounts for a few years now but have had zero luck with their suction cup mounts and use the stick on universal mounts. I love the one handed operation. I have been looking at options for tablet mounts and I know what I’ll be ordering now. Thanks Stefan 👍

      They have a lot of good stuff now. Especially the wireless charger. I’d be interested to see how well the vibration dampener works too. They’ll also work with ram mounts which is handy.

    Quad Lock is my choice for our phones and small devices. My Wrangler has a accessories bar across the dash which alleviates suction cups. My Durabook tablet docks into its own vehicle mount which attaches to the accessories bar by ram gear.

    • @AlloffroadAu
      @AlloffroadAu  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just don't like having an extra attachment point protruding out of the case but the Dura Lock looks quite good. I was always toying getting the accessories bar when I had the jeep never got around to it though.

    Thanks for the Seasucker hint Stefan. This was exactly what I was looking for to mount my iPad Pro 12.9 in my Lexus LX470 without drilling. I agree that one should never drill holes in the dashboard however my early Iridium sat phone is about the same size and weight as a brick so I could never find a suction attachment up to the job. Also I didn't want the intrusion into my field of view so I settled for a RAM mount attached to the lower dash by four screws. Oh well the vehicle is 30 years old so a few more holes won't make much difference.

    • @AlloffroadAu
      @AlloffroadAu  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      yea I hated to drill in my Dash but when on a trip you constantly have your phone flying in your lap it needed to be done, as Cat Stevens said "the first hole hurt's the deepest" lol

    Great video. I use ram mounts in my car for both iPhone and tablet. My tablet mount uses the passenger seat mount on the floor. Looking forward to changing my Ram suction after seeing your review. Is there any reason why you keep your tablet in landscape rather than portrait position?

    • @AlloffroadAu
      @AlloffroadAu  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      good question, never thought about it I guess on the windscreen I have rather bottom part obscured than the top, I usually know what is ahead so I like to see more what's to the side.

    Hi...does a device (tablet/phone) need to have wireless functionality/capable for it to be used with wireless cradle, as outlined in this video? may seem like a silly question, I know. I think they do need to be wireless capable devices to start with. Tks. Richard

    l run the ram system for my phone with double sided clear tape from woolworths on the suction cup,l also run a seat mounted extension mount for my ipad. l have got a truck type GPS with a camera mounted to the screen. l did have the highway patrol pull me up and had a crack at my obstructed vision because of all the gadget on the screen,they end up getting me with Minor load restraint because l had rope over the top of the trailer instead of a net. Load was confined and was level with the height of the trailer.

    Why are they so expensive? For something so basic, not much to it. The 4wd overland community seems to accept that it's an expensive past time and still pay what's being asked. I very reluctantly have no option but to join the rip off society sometimes.
