You said, we can not modify non- gradable adjectives by using “Quite” ...
But,
Ex-1) I am quite right.
2) The scenery was quite incredible.
** It is very confusing😵😕🤔
Please tell me where to use Quite and Not
I did not know beautiful was an ungradable adjective. I'd say I have heard very beautiful....
it's really difficult to identify gradable/ungradable adjectives. Do we have methodical learning about these? Thank you very much indeed.
Regard.
Hori
Cool
Could you please tell me where to place 'fairly' ,'rather' and 'pretty'?
They are a bit confusing to use easily. In spoken English is it so much important to use wrong?
We can say very beautiful
Thanks for your lesson. But how can we know if an adj gradable?
Unfortunately dictionaries don't tell you whether adjectives are gradable or ungradable, but when you hear them used in sentences often you start learning the pattern. If an adjective is gradable, you will hear it used with modifiers like "a bit", "very" , "quite", etc.
