Well, in the end it worked pretty well for him nonetheless, he did become the king of all Norway. So sometime things that may look negative, turns out to be in our favor.
Another clear case of a metaphor taken literally, ''You have to become the king of Norway for me to marry you'' that's a metaphor for I'll never marry you.
I like this scene because it shows how human King Harald really is. It shows that sometimes our love and ambition can easily be taken for granted by those we're trying to impress.

Lesson to be learned, don't let your happiness rest only on the shoulders of one, that burden is much to bare and can lead to bitterness, hatred, and jealousy. It should come about naturally, when someone's else's happiness is your happiness that is true love. Even if seeing them with someone else breaks your heart inside out. Side note: Harald has excellent taste, she's beautiful. :)

I think this show still had a ways to go still, not sure if this is the same Harald Hardrada in history or if they will be tweaking it with him having a son with the same name but I actually would like to see where they go with his character. Harald was by history, 'The Last Viking' so whether its his character or perhaps a descendant I'm intrigued with his story line very much to say the least.

If she had just told him she had no interest in him, it would have been a different case (still pretty dumb of her to reject someone who would literally do everything for her, in favor for some random dude, during that time). But she gave him the worst kind of false hope, telling him he had a chance if he becomes meaningful, king of Norway and then turns around and fucks and marries another dude. This is not just her having no interest, it is betrayal. She betrayed Harald and made a fool out of him, she dishonored him and yet, he spares her..
Didn't like Harald before but I suffered with him during this scene.
The princess is really cute, sorta a young Candace Bergen look-a-like. Too bad she doesn't stay alive but for 2 episodes. What a waste. One of the better looking women on the series.
