  • What else is there to do during a lock down besides restore grenades? I had two training Mk2 "Pineapple" grenades laying around, as you do, so I decided to make them into some awesome WWII grenades. Join me on my adventure of mistakes and awesomeness!

Good job on the painting scheme. Sandblast the the pineapple next time and primer and then o.b olive green and will look really sharp.

P.s green lever is a combat lever and blue is for training. I know I used enough of those to load a pickup truck down . haha

Green lever has fuse M213 on the top and your missing a safety clip on the level and a ring clip. And a black oring between the grenade buld and head to keep water out. Just saying. And you pull pin can be put in the other cross hole to keep striker hammer from striking the detinater cap . In case you make a bobo.

Just an interesting side note, early in WW2, grenades were produced painted all yellow. They were supposed to be painted green by ordinance personnel. It didn't always get done. Yellow grenades were still seen in use as late as Normandy.

The yellow color was to make the grenade look more like a young pineapple 🍍 well that is what my uncle said he was fighting against the Japanese on the illusion islands and a lot of other islands in WW2 he was in the Marines

Is no one gonna point out that these are from the 80s? WW2 MK II have a completely different spoon and a sharper casting.

Your definitely right the WW2 pineapple grenades has a raise rib down the back of the lever and no safety clip notch for a wire spring clip and doesn't have the piece of metal to clip the pull ring into to keep it from accidently being pulled out on brush. They started putting those on in Vietnam.

It’s a Chinese copy sold for novelty some of them have real used tops but you’d know cuz it’ll be burned and obviously used. The Chinese tops are solid and doesn’t have a hole in the top all. The body is a Chinese copy. A military body would have some remnant paint

Can you give me a source please? All of my research (granted only a few Google searches) shows they are training grenades. They could be unused or rarely used surplus. Unissued rifles appear on the collectors market. I assume something like this could be unused as well.

@@ThatDeltaBravo many places sell them their commonly known to be Chinese the giveaway is their commonly not painted and the heads are solid aluminum not drilled out many dealers sell them old sarge is a dealer these have been sold for over 40 yrs they use to be shipped in a cardboard box that had a flip up advertisement for display. Trust me theirs more Chinese grenadines than real ones held by civilians also Mexico has a lot of these.

@@jefferyboring4410 Perhaps, but the two I have are stamped RFX for Richmond Foundry (now Casting) Co., which is certainly not in China. Did China copy that too?

handle is the spoon. Paint the whole thing yellow, tape the top for however width of the line you want, then paint the whole thing the last color, pull off tape and you'll have a straight yellow line that looks sharp. Also, better to use enamel paint rather than latex.

I believe the sheet metal cover that is blue, is called the spoon. It is its unofficial name, I am unsure of its proper name.

take some scotch tape or masking tape and tape the bottom of the yellow band and paint it again and your line will be straight.

Does one need to be an explosives expert to have some fun when they lost their career due to Covid? I don't think so.
