    Funny i never noticed a break on one . Guess thats good but hey nice to know this. Funny question here does a zero turn have the break shoe thing on them. Cub Cadet zt1 ultima 50 just curious now. Not all question are dumb.

      The brakes on the mower decks are only on the manual blade engagement. I’m sure the Cub Cadet ZT1 has a electric PTO switch and the electric clutch is used as the brake system for the mower deck.

    Well at least m.t.d made the height adjustment separate from the blade engagement lever

      Wow, now there’s a blast from the past Lol! I remember replacing the engagement bracket on the old machines because they would wear thin in the off position and the blades would still run.

    Great Instructions. I have a T150 46", belt snapped, I replaced belt and now when I lower the deck to 3rd level engine/RPMs drop, If I bring deck back up to 4 or 5 it runs as it should. Lower back to 3 and Bam .RPMs drop . Any idea why? Recently replaced the engagement cable as well.

      I have not come across that before. I will assume you are trying this when you’re not in grass?? Sounds like the belt may not be the correct size? To tight?

      46" deck, just replaced original belt with another 46" belt. It does appear to be a bit slack when PTO lever engaged (of course while machine is off) I looked at everything. Rechecked engagement cable, tension springs, all pulleys, everything seems to be in order. There's no way to adjust engagement cable tension as the bracket on deck is not adjustable. I'm thinking if I try a smaller belt it'll put too much tension and likely snap especially at the higher deck settings. I'm at a loss here. I wish we could share videos here for better understanding. Again, deck level 4/5 blades run full speed, drop height to 3 and they slow down significantly, even more so the lower the deck is dropped.

      Make sure if you removed the mower deck that you put it back together correctly? Then if that looks ok, I would suggest getting a OEM (original equipment manufacture) belt. If you purchased an aftermarket belt you may have the incorrect belt size.

      @@JohnsonsSmallEngines I believe you are correct. I didn't research enough. I thought deck size covered belt sizes. I bought a 46" Power care deck belt from HD which is for a 46" deck, however it measures at 105"L, I'm seeing how the craftsman model T150 I have has a 103"L for the belt. It makes sense, I thought looking at it installed it should be 1-2" tighter. Off to ACE I go, wish me luck. Thanks a TON for the quick replys. Keep the tutorials coming.

    Thanks, I am working on a craftsman t 140 that the deck engagement cable broke while it was in use mowing and it knocked the black pulley brake bar out of it's hole, and the brake mounting bolt for the non discharge side of deck was laying on the deck. I was needing to see where the brake engagement bar went along with the mounting bolt. I am legally blind and I am doing this for a disabled older lady, who knows nothing about the mower. Thankfully she has the service manual for the mower as she has 2 or 3 belts that also need to be replaced.

    The bracket we have is missing the cover. Will this still work?

    • @JohnsonsSmallEngines

      Not sure what you mean? If you are missing a belt cover? then the belt may come off when you disengage the mower deck. Not sure what you mean by bracket?

    I bought a used 2019 craftsman t240 the deck belt keeps coming off. And when the pto is fully engaged the belt is lose. All the pulleys seem to be in good condition.

    I'm checking out my moms, the new belt seems awful loose. It is the correct belt. looks like no adjustments.

    • @JohnsonsSmallEngines
      @JohnsonsSmallEngines  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The belt will be loose until you engage the mower deck. If it still loose after you engage it, you have a problem.
