I was here in 2008. My husband was born in Madeira. I just loved Porto Santo. Spent one of the best days ever exploring the island and swimming at the glorious beach.

We loved Porto Santo 😎! Walking the beach from one end to the other (where there's a restaurant) and back was a highlight. We were there in November though, and made the mistake of assuming the ferry ran daily. We needed to return on the day it didn't run so had to fly, so check the schedule when planning your trip.

In Porto Santo I spent part of my summer vacation together with my godparents, between bathing, eating, taking a nap, walking on the beach and swimming again, we spent the day on the beach and other times we walked around the island, we ate on a picnic somewhere quiet and relaxing and that despite being just a child, he adored the tranquility and the beautiful views of that little island..., he missed it a lot. Another detail is the ferry in which we went to Porto Santo, it was a small ship called "blue pirate" it was a canoe compared to the current one and I always got dizzy on the way out but never on the way back

Hello Alan, i have a funny story about Porto Santo. I live in Madeira island and my wife is from Porto, where my inlaws live. When i met my wife and got maried, we used to go to the Algarve cause my father in law had a time slot at a 5 star resort near Albufeira that he could use 2 times a year, usualy at easter and summer. I always loved the Algarve but it became quite pricey even not having to pay for acomodations. About 10 years ago my father in law decided that the family vacations would be in Porto Santo. Now, has a Madeira native i've been to Porto Santo several times before and always loved the beach, but i thought the lack of diversity on places to go since it's a tiny island would be a negative item for my father in law, cause he was always up and about. Boy was i wrong!! My father in law fell in love with Porto Santo and quit Algarve alltogether. He said and i quote, "there is no place in the world that has such golden sand beaches, warm sea water and such peace and quiet like Porto Santo, and all of that just 1 hour and half from the mainland Europe, a paradise cheaper than Algarve, the best beach in Europe". Since that year, all our family vacations are in Porto Santo, always on august, and never went back to Algarve.

I am portuguese and live in a farm close to Lisbon ( 80 km). I will be 47 years old..and me and my wife ..are thinking to live in Porto Santo. I will open to do lessons of Muay Thai and KICKBOXING.
My work is buy properties..construction/renovation and sale. So I can still my job in Continente...even I live in Porto Santo. I know Porto Santo..I know Madeira Island...and is realy unique.

how do you find/ do you use the sandy beaches on Madeira (NOT Porto Santo)
Madeira has a few Black sand beaches, but most are rock beaches.
