In my opinion, Kick/snare/hat is the best exercise for a drummer to develop their chops. The limited equipment forces you to be creative and not rely on gear to make up for lack of skill.
Throw a ride in for bell exercises and that’s all you really need to practice. I am an old school drummer and usually just play with 5pc set, sometimes just 4pc, 4 cymbals and hats. It also makes lugging it around a little easier. Unless drummers get backline for a show, we usually have the most things to put together and tear down.

I got so much respect for someone who put so much effort into reaching such a level of skill af this one, while making it look so effortles. And especially since I'm very well aware of how little of this skill I have myself!
This kit is sonically incredible. It is very snappy and percussion-like, you can nearly feel the impulsion it gives to the air. Also, each drum has a very distinctive and recognizable sound. The kick is a very clear and bassy but not muddy thud, the snare is loud and resonant as fuck but not overbearing and the hit-hat has that perfect sibilant sizzle. This could cut through any mix while still giving the space for every instrument, it is really masterfully crafted.
My teacher once showed me how just by feet (one kick and one hi-hat) and >the right feeling< it is possible to create interesting and catchy grooves. And then I realized what I kept missing... 😅 You got it! 👍 👏
I am a drummer, old fk, same set of conga skins for 50 years, they talk, your drumming is spot on and kind, keep on keeping on the beats of life~~ I often find a quiet place to play where your music fills the trees, respect.
Excellent. This is how you can see if a drummer is good if he can play this well and sound like nothing percussively is missing despite a limited drum set. Love it.
I miss playing my acoustic drums outside 😔 those were some of my favorite shows(bass drum kills it out doors with no mic 😎👌)your beats are dope bro, keep rocking 👏
I have every even number of toms from 6" - 18", and a 20" bass drum; but I started with just a kick, snare, and hats. You master that and then add pieces. This dude can do more with 3 pieces than most drummers will ever dream of. Respect bud. I'd love to see what you can do on a full kit.
It was dope as hell, Im sure there's a reason why most brothers play similar. Must roots or gospel music. Cant really put my finger on it but if you listen to this kind of drumming it's usually dudes who come from a gospel background musically. Or jazz of course
Smokin! I’ve only taken my kit outside a few times, but have been wanting to do it lately. I’ve got 2 flights of stairs in my house to get outside and get winded going up one flight since having Covid in January. You sound great
Когда я сел за барабаны,я оставил только малый набор...Тройка,добавил один альт и один том с тарелкой,и этого было достаточно на все случаи...Автор играет просто,но чётко и ритмично,прям зажигает...!!!😃
Cool little setup that sounds great. I agree this set up, plus a ride, are the heart of a drum set. Everything else is just extra toppings. Man has chops in a limited setup.
That's because a lot of drummers don't understand the melodic possibilities of the tom Tom's on a drumkit. If you study West African djembe and dununs, you will see that tom Tom's are essentially dununs. The tom tom can be used to mirror and accent bass guitar and keyboard melody lines.Drumset tom toms are not just another drum to play fast double and triple time accents that have nothing to do with the other band instruments within the arrangement of a song.
Everyone who is impressed by this should take away the point that this is how far you can get by just building a really solid foundation of the essentials. 80-90% of being great at anything, not just drums or other instruments, is simply becoming fluent at the fundamentals.
In my opinion, Kick/snare/hat is the best exercise for a drummer to develop their chops. The limited equipment forces you to be creative and not rely on gear to make up for lack of skill.

смотрела тебя в россии - круто и ритмично, добра тебе
Damn, wouldn`t have expected you here! Thanks for all your studying advice
Bro if this man go do this crazy stuff on three pieces of the drum kit, I’m genuinely terrified to what he can do on a full kit😂
This guy inspired me to start drumming. With a simple kit he developed an entire vocabulary. It's hard work and dedication.
Yeah man. I been playing drums for 15 years. This man has done his time. Believe me
this dude looks like he has the potential to absolutely just pop off at any given moment, love the vibe
Why the Fuuuuudge is this only 29 seconds long???? Love this dude. Everything about his playing is magic. My kinda drummer right here.
Ahhh my guy!!! Thank you!!
29secs IS magic there my friends.. genius 🥰🥰🥰🥰 perfect
Do a 10 minute version
Ran out of camera batteries.
That was insane. What a drummer you are mate. I wouldn't keep up with that rhythm, fast enough.
Thank u man✊🏾.
@@jdr_playsmusic02 glad you like my comment. I'm also a drummer myself. Long story, short, I miss being in a band with other band members.
@@danielhighfield907 oof i cant relate but it would prob be like losing a friend
Indeed
@@jdr_playsmusic02 can you redo that beat, and show us your bass drum foot? New sub
Kick, snare, and hat are all you need, sounds great!
Yessir thank u so much
Add a beer and ill agree.
Technically all you need on a guitar is one string, but the other five sure do make things sound better and give you more options.
@@officialmetalwill you cant play chords on one string, so technically its not enough.
@@kattihatt Okay? People have done whole solos with one string. You can make A LOT of different sounds with one string.
I love minimalistic kick, snare, hi-hat sets. You're a master, dude.
This is waay too good, the tight snare and hi-hat combos are incredible. I can rewatch this 30secs over and over

Jonathan you should check out some of Zach hill’s drumming! I think you’d like his phrasing and technique with minimal kits like that
@@lilskuzzy Zach is a beast man i love watch his videos
Isn't it amazing what can be accomplished with just the kick snare and hi-hat??!! Chops Bro ... CHOPS!!! 💯😎
And skillz.
Nice to see fellow fishermen watching drum videos

Best sounding snare ever, amazing groove as well

Sonically incredible? Okay.
@@DaylightRobberyCA It's drumesque

MAD TALENT! You don't need a 10000 piece drum-set to make a great groove and prove your skills. Keep it up bro.

0:11 that run
That little, "side swipe" to the hihat is smooth man, nice chops
You don’t need more than this to show you’ve got groove - good job, brother
All amazing, but what you started playing at 0:18 was SWEEET!!!

I love watching drummers who can do impressive shit like this with such a simplified setup. Keep kicking ass

I don't know how the video was recommended to me but you are an incredible drummer sir ! Good luck for your music :)
Love it! Snare, Kick and HiHat, the foundation to establishing the groove
as a bass player... i feel you!...control of that hihat, snare and kick are excellent.
Big Man. Big Beat. Big Chops. Small kick drum.
A great use of doubles and cleanly played accents. Not the easiest thing to play.
