(Which has a Harrison Ford cameo, btw). All the time he was working on the film, he was also writing "Star Wars". He kept a notebook with him, and would add notes or write ideas as they came to him. For several reasons, when filming, the visual and the audio are recorded simultaneously, but separately. This is why, when the Director says "Action", the assistant says "Scene 6, take 2" and "SNAPS" that clacker; The "SNAP" helps them to synch up the audio in post-production. During the post-production phase for "Graffiti", Lucas was working with the sound editor, and while editing one scene, the editor turned to an assistant, and asked him to grab a dialogue reel, that they would synch with it. He wanted the second dialogue track on the second reel of tape recorded for the scene in question. In editing speak he turned to the assistant and said . . . "Spool up R2, D2." (Reel 2, dialogue #2) That caught Lucas' ear. He liked the sound of it and R2 got his name. Maybe real, maybe rumor, but I like it.

Uncle owen is my favorite , no nonsense , tells C3po to shut up and Luke to waste time after his chores are done...lol "Sometimes " I think society is just too soft and we just need to be firm about whats needed.
Owen's behavior personifies the no-nonsense demeanor a hardscrabble farmer has, both when doing business with a likely unscrupulous machinery dealer, & seeing to it that the work gets done. I grew up in rural Iowa, most of my grandparents & their children were farmers, & I've seen interactions of this sort more times than I can count. The actor nailed it so well, I suspect he was no stranger to rural farm life either.
Had the suspicion after she mentioned she would sell the Droid back to the jawas and remembered it wasn't too incredibly long after return of the jedi that the mandalorian takes place
Based on SW lore R2D2 had a conversation with the other R2 and asked for his help because he was on important mission. The droid helped and overloaded himself so R2D2 could finish his mission.
Fun Fact: The "red" astromech is R5-D4, and actually blew up its modulator on porpouse since R2 told him that he needs to do an important mission, after the stormtroopers attack on the jawas, R5 escaped and joined the rebels
I was reading something on the tools of story telling and it talked about this character R2D2. It said that R2D2 plays the role of a story making tool called "The Herald." C3PO just plays the role of the clown. The role of the herald is that of a fore-warning - even if the character (s) (in this case it's Luke) are not consciously aware yet that they are in danger. Luke has stated that the place he is from is incredibly boring and forgotten - the farthest away from where the real action is happening. He is incredibly frustrated of his own stuck and boring life and even sees himself as boring. This apparently cute and innocent looking droid R2D2 comes from an entirely different reality than Luke. Luke's greatest wish is to get out of that place. The herald is a warning "If you see me as a problem, you have no idea what's coming after me - guaranteed to turn your world completely upside down" Innocent looking R2D2 is a ticking time bomb with the classic response from the Universe "You should be very careful what you wish for because you just may get it" - as evidenced later when his parents are killed - because of what comes later literally looking for R2.

I love how in this scene you can hear how 3po’s lines were intended for Lucas’ car dealer imagining of the character
Im glad R4 got his motivator fixed
“Now don’t you forget this. Why I should stick my neck out for you is far beyond my capacity.” I love this line from 3PO.
1:27 The Force at work
I’m surprise Owen doesn’t remember C-3PO though. Even though C3POs memory was wipe and his body is golden, but wouldn’t his voice reminded Owen who he is?
He’s a droid. There’s probably lots of droids that sound like him.
Uncle owen is my favorite , no nonsense , tells C3po to shut up and Luke to waste time after his chores are done...lol
"Sometimes " I think society is just too soft and we just need to be firm about whats needed.
The memories i have attached to this film. Its my childhood.
C3po the only consistant character in 9 movies
I like how he says shut up I will take this one
Classic movie!!
It took me until s3 e2 of the mandalorian to realize that R-5 is in the mandalorian!🤦🏻♂️
Just came to this video to confirm that connection
@@mediocremasterpiece5591 you too huh.🤦🏻♂️😂
Me too 😂
@@Jylhis I guess we're dumb.😂🤦🏻♂️😭
Had the suspicion after she mentioned she would sell the Droid back to the jawas and remembered it wasn't too incredibly long after return of the jedi that the mandalorian takes place
Based on SW lore R2D2 had a conversation with the other R2 and asked for his help because he was on important mission. The droid helped and overloaded himself so R2D2 could finish his mission.
I don’t know but, i found the tone “what about that one?” Still jiggles me😂
You know your a atar wars nerd if you think "thats not an R2 unit. That's an R5 unit"
I swear I have a girlfriend
Lol.
But, what kind of astromech droid is she?
Did he ever get those power converters...?
1:03 1:04 aw poor R2
0:40
Bocce is what I named my robot vacuum cleaner
Luke was so young .
Jawas were basically a moving Facebook Marketplace
Still won't get over that Owen and Beru were badasses at fending off the Third Sister 9 years prior to this.
Lmao; they somehow nearly fend off a diet-sith, but can't handle storm troopers? WHAT
It’s amazing how Luke ended up with his father’s droid R2 unit.
Not really....R2 was looking for him
1:27 Another Droid damaged 😂😂
Owen really saw artoo and was like 'not again'
Love this
NOSTALGIA PURA!!1
You can see leftover elements of the original used car salesmen persona for Threepio in this scene.
F for Skippy :(
"I have no need for a protocol droid"
2 seconds later...
"What i need is something that speaks Binary and Bachi, ok i'll take it"
R2D2 is the best one
R2's wheels cover some pretty impressive terrain
