Just wanted to let you know that what your doing with these lesser 'known' bows, is absolutely fantastic. I'm so sick of the same 6 bows every year getting review after review and yet 100's of other bows get left dry. I for one really appreciate the extra content and reviews.
Obsession bows are great, when you can get them. Lol. I have an FX7 and an older Phoenix. Love the bows. Customer service? Not so much. But they have gone through a lot in the past year or so. Dennis retired, bought by Martin, lost some key people and there was something called COVID-19 or something like that. I hope they come back strong cause the make some fine shooting bows fer sure! I have a fusion 6 that I kept hidden away because it looked so cool and didn't want it ruined. But after my BT RPM360 strings broke and ruined the bow , I pulled out the Fusion & I totally forgot about buying a new flagship bow.. The V3x , Vista , SR350 couldn't show me enough innovation to splurge........ I ended up buying the knightmare GT & Defcon M2 6... I'll be buying a few more used obsessions - just to have them !!!!!
I've owned 2 obsessions. Evolution and defcon m7. I thought the evolution was great shooting but the cable guard kept shredding the cables even after new a new block. The defcon 7 I could not get to shoot without torque-ing. However they were some of the smoother cams I've pulled.
I had the same problem with customer service I love the bow but not being able to get a part and the only guy I could get to help me was Kevin at pass thru archery he is awesome works on any bow obsession should know how much he does for them
I finally got ahold of someone at obsession last month, had two bows in processs to be sent to us and someone higher up canceled the order because we didn’t have the following he said, disappointing
I have one too, took my 80lb version to Africa. I thought it was a great bow, with one of the best valleys for the speed bow it produced. Some of their bow IBO were pretty inflated, great camo, and my Defcon 6 was fast enough.....
I have an FX 30 new in 2019!! I also bought the Mathews VXR 28 same year. The 2022 hunting year just passed I still have both of them bows. This year I shot my FX 30 for the hunting season. I really enjoy shooting it. It's not as dead in hand as my VXR but all around It is a great bow. Tuning the FX30 is a bit more difficult to get perfect bullet hole , but is achievable with a bit of patience!! I don't think I'll ever get rid of my FX30. As you know Martin has acquired obsession since !! Hard to see their new product line year after year !!
My first bow was a 2017 Obsession Turmoil. Enjoy it, but I wanted to try more. I bought a Defcon M6Z. The grip didn't feel as good as the Turmoil and I found out I don't like a ton of letoff. Years later I tried some peoples Mathews bows. They were nice and quiet but heavy as a brick and wayyyy to top heavy. Hated the balance on em. The turmoil is at a really good weight for me, has a grip that doesn't influence my shot so much, and since I have short Trex arms, the SD cam I put on my Turmoil Maxes out at 27 inch... right at my draw length. So i'm getting much better speed on my turmoil than I did on my M6Z at 27 inches. Long story short, the M6Z wasn't for me but my friend I sold it to enjoys it. I have no idea what bow I could "upgrade" to from the Turmoil that would be as nice at 27 inch draw length. Guess I would have to find a bow that has draw length specific cams. If they exist anymore.
@@BackyardBows i find them online ofentimes for sale higher than msrp obviously but the big box stores can order them bass pro and cabellas , i found mine on the shelf at a store it was ordered and never picked up / payed for on clearance lol
The problem with the heavy let off is that it makes the bow a bit unstable at full draw. I end up modifying the draw stops in order to reduce the size of the valley and the max let off on Bowtech Realm SS. I end up shooting a lot more consistently with less let off. Excellent review unfortunately this bow is hard to find now.
Definitely a give and take when purchasing high speed bows, I would say that this bow particularly held nicely for such a heavy reflex, the smoke expedition that drops sat reflex is insane
Iv owned well over 20-30 Obsession bow models from 2014-2020. Iv also owned few other bows from other companies last few years but I keep coming back to Obsession 😂 FX30 Iv owned 3 different ones and it with out a doubt rank top 5 for me. I’m 29.5-30” if I was shorter draw I loved the Knightmare GT and Delta 6 (max 29” draw) from 2015, Evolution from 2015 is my favorite the back wall is unmatched I have to punch my hand forward just to get it to let down because it wants to hold itself back. Tuning is huge with Obsession if it’s not tuned it shoots like crap but if tuned correctly they are Ferraris no doubt.
Obsession was bought by the company that owns Martin archery, maybe they will become a little easier to find, in 2015 I traveled to a dealership to buy an obsession and after hearing how long the wait was I ended up getting an Xpedition, which at the time I thought was a better shooting bow, didn’t like the tiny grip on the obsession
I shot an obsession for 8 years . My problem with them…. Lack of dealers , 1/2 the people who are dealers don’t even stock em, so shooting one prior to buying is basically impossible now. Their motto is change or get left behind….. they literally have changed nothing , the least of any bow manufacturer, in 10 years . Literally nothing….. almost everybody is moving towards integrated accessories . Not obsession … and that doesn’t even cost money to do. 12 years ago…. Lb for lb they were on of the most manageable shooting speed bows out there , they had no vibration at all, and a decent draw cycle . But they just dont compete now …. When they do claim to crest something new , it’s not new , they just rearrange cams on different risers and say hey a new bow… when it’s juts recycled. I know others do this as well, but it’s so evident with obsession. Also … selling out to Martin I’m afraid was the nail in the coffin. A very very bad ideas. They desperately need to change soon, as their motto suggest or they are going to get left behind , even though they already have been. They have the lowest resell as well
So more than I wanted to but because it was one of the only obsessions on ebay I new it would resale fast for equal value and I actually got more for it so I paid 475 and sold for almost 600
Just a comment about Obsession. Several years ago when they hit the market everyone raved about them. They were great shooting bows. But Obsession did great damage to themselves when they started fibbing about their performance. For example, a bow rated at 350 FPS would underperform by as much as 25 to 30 feet per second. That killed them, and they haven't recovered. They also developed a reputation for poor customer service among their dealers, so now there are almost no dealers left. Here's the reality: Obsession and Martin are probably not selling many bows. It's a shame. We all want them to survive, bit it's gonna be tough. Hopefully their ownership has the patience. They'll have to put a lot of money and resources into them. Having said all that, if they're still around in a couple of years I'd be surprised.
Man I have tried hard to get more obsessions and a Martin in here for awhile and have had no luck I hope they can pull through as well thanks for the input

i own an obsession bow and a bowtech they are very similar yet very different it would be nice to have an updated dealer roster

I shot a Defcon M7 at a hunting show, didn't pull the trigger, and couldn't find one after that
I have a fixation 7 and it's great . It's my first bow it's got 0 vibration and it's super comfy . Grip is great for me

I love the obsession grip. Just fits so perfect in hand I got some little dick beaters though !!
