I’ve always loved the way the vips talked, it’s as if they’re speaking in simple and slightly slower English than you’d expect so that the Korean audience could understand it easier

I don’t think it was to help the Korean audience, it was to satire the stupidity of rich Americans.
Having them vote to leave and then come back was a stroke of genius. I don’t think anyone was expecting it to go that way, so it really came as a shock. And it threw up a whole load of nuance, because anyone who came back now did so in full knowledge of the stakes.
Something cool to note all our main protagonists die the way they spent their "day off" in the episode "Hell".
-Sang Woo tries to commit suicide in the bath tub, he ends up ending his own life while in water as well
-Deok Su jumps off of a bridge while running from Yakuza. He ends up falling to his death
-Ali ends up stealing money from his employer, Ali gets his marbles stolen from him and dies as a result
-Sae Byeok threatens to slit a man's throat if he betrays her, she gets her throat slit by someone who betrayed her and Gi-Hun
-Il-Nam spent his day with Gi-Hun, sharing a meal with him that he had bought. He shares his last marble with Gi-Hun, "eliminating" him from the game.
-The detective spends his day searching for his brother, he finds his brother in the end, ending his life
Viewing episodes 5-9 in one day must have been like setting yourself on fire. All the heartbreak of the show all at once is an awful lot to handle.

You know Gi-Hun is actually a good person when he drops Sae-Byeok's drink and returns it properly even when he's being chased.
That was an ad lib by the actor. If you look closely, you can see the actress playing Sae-Byeok laughing uncontrollably as he hands it back. But they kept it because you dn't notice she's laughing unless you know to look for it.
@@pandorawombat yeah i know that tho. But Lee Jung-Jae did that on purpose, to make Gi-Hun character likeable since his addiction of gambling making people sick.

Also the fact that he's from Buddhist household, like he tells that recruiter - no violence, always try to help, etc :)

Your video came up in my feed and I'm impressed you did the whole series in one video. I think I did the break like you and saw the whole thing in two runs my first time. I liked your commentary and even the few references you provided. I think that's helpful for those who don't know Korean. Hope you catch other full commentaries or reference videos to give you more context of what you saw. I've been learning quite a bit myself and found this series even more impressive. Overall, I appreciate your contribution to all the reviews out there and you proved you're also human in going through all the emotions. Good job!
Great reaction. First I've seen where someone has done the whole show in one video. The girl who played Sae-Byeok it was her first acting role, she was a model before.
Also if you haven't seen it already really suggest Train to Busan. Given you have seen Parasite as well you might see a couple of faces you recognise.

Also, I know you said in the beginning that you weren't going to react to as many TV shows going forward, but I'm trying to get all my favorite reactors to react to Arcane. It's based on a game, but it's written so that you literally need zero knowledge of the game to enjoy the show... and it's a FANTASTIC show. Even if you don't react to it for TH-cam, I highly recommend watching it for yourself.

On Sang Woo himself. I don't think he's a great person, but I can feel his desperation. Both his and his mom's lives basically are on the line. So he feels like he has to do what he has to do. Is he more prone towards violence and lying? Yeah probably. Especially given his business choices, lying is probably something he's gotten very good at. He's ruthless, but only because the game makes him do so. He also is mentally unstable as the 2nd episode shows, he probably suffers deep depression which can lead to violent outbursts. He's not like Doek Su though who's literally just murdering criminal who will spring to violence first thing over petty things
Who actually won the Squid Game? The actress who played the North Korean signed a contract to be a representative for French luxury brand Louis Vuiton. So she actually did get a big suitcase full of money!

While we all hate Sang Woo for Ep3 and Ep6 what he did in Ep7 at the end was a good thing, the glass maker guy at the end was was known for holding back information that could have saved many people, instead letting them die to thin the numbers and then helping. So I think at the end he was ether one of 2 things, ether he did not know the correct one but was taking and would never have jumped causing the clock to time out and all die or he clearly new what one was the correct one but was intentionally holding back like he had earlier and letting the clock tick down to a few seconds letting him jump to safety but not leaving enough time for the others. So as much as we all hate Sang Woo he did the right thing .

if i may, from one youtuber to another (and only because in your intro you said you were thinking about best practices..) .. you're a young channel.. you should absolutely stretch content as much as you can.. at least, one reaction video per episode, ideally from 8-20 minutes per.. youtube really doesn't reward promotion within the algorithm for videos of this length.. the regular attention span for the random viewer is somewhere around a few minutes, longer if they are a subscriber, at which point, they're probably more here for you than the thing you're reacting too.. at this point in your youtube career, you really have to play the game to get youtube to show you to new viewers so you can grow your base.. once you hit 100k subs, you may be able to get away with longer form content, but if i'm being honest, even 30 minutes it's stretching it, esp. with reaction videos, where the viewer isn't going to be passively listening (like a podcast for example) .. they're here to watch you, and after 15 minutes or so, the average viewer is going to move on.. you are a natural, you have charisma and even some clever editing going on.. you could have stretched this into multiple videos, and your audience retention percentage would be higher, resulting in higher promotion, higher subscription rates, into a positive feedback loop, more promotion, longer retention, more hours played, more subs, rinse, repeat.. i hope this doesn't come off as condescending, i was immediately impressed by your presence on camera and editing skills, but what you said at the beginning about going for a longer format, well, just wanted you to reconsider.. best of luck!
I appreciate the time you have taken to write this, but if you actually look at my content and how my videos perform, you will see that this is my highest viewed video in months. Also the series where I react to stranger things, where I am posting my reactions to only 2 episodes at a time, not only does very poorly in views, but I also struggle a lot to be consistent with uploading them so people loose interest. If you actually look at my channel and see how my content is performing you will understand why I decided to do this reaction like this. Also, long form videos on TH-cam are extremely popular these days, and because of the length of this video (and because of the increase in viewer retention this video had compared to my other videos) this video is my highest earning video ever on my channel. Again, I know you are trying to help and I appreciate that, but I think I’m doing just fine. 😊
(I had another person comment something similar, so I actually added up the revenue I have gotten from all of my Stranger Things reactions combined, and it's less then what this one video made soooo, again I think I'm doing fine lol.)

I meant like carry them in your hands and throw them onto the glass in front of you. It’s probably against the rules, but the rules of the games were kind of all over the place, so why not at least try throwing the shoes?

First off, kudos on not watching it in english...god, is it awful! It's like they hired dinner theater reject actors for the dub work; no emotion whatsoever. I've never seen anybody do the whole series in one video on youtube tho. Did you catch how many players were in the game that the police officer's brother won? F'n 1,205...he made so much BANK tho (don't judge me!). Yeah, I caught that il-nam wasn't shown catching the bullet when he supposedly died & they didn't show his dead body afterwards like Ali or anybody else. I kind of guessed something was up with him. But, there's absolutely no way that Squid Game season 2 isn't going to be bashed when it comes out since it was so revered. They hype will be too much to be dealt with sadly. New viewer, and have to say, all though I am going to try to watch this entire reaction video, do think it would have been better off done in like a 3 part video rather than just one extremely long video.

Last year there was another short series about a deadly set of games (Alice in Borderland) Squid copied the idea, yet did better.
Squid didn't stole the idea, it was written years ago, Alice in Borderland just came out before :)

I don't want to tell you how to do your stuff, but I feel that with this 1 season per video format you're putting yourself in edition hell and not extracting as much value from your time.
You'll be throwing most of your footage away with no use, and while you don't finish up the huge work of editing 10 hours of footage, you won't be getting any engagement or value from any of it. Also long videos get less views even as they sit forever on "Watch later" lists.
By doing 1 video per episode you have less to edit at a time, you'll build a larger catalog which will be feeding the algorithm and your monetization in the long run, and you'll easily maintain a uploading schedule which is key for the algorithm as well.

If you "don't want to tell me how to do my stuff" than don't. I can assure you that this is my best performing video within the last year, it's gained the most revenue since my Harry Potter reactions, and has brought in a slew of new subscribers (over 100). I have tried posting reactions episodically with my Stranger Things reactions, and they have performed very poorly in comparison (like REALLY poorly in comparison). I know what I am doing, and I know that with such a small channel, episodic videos just don't bring in new viewers. If my channel was bigger it would be fine, but it isn't, so I need to make content that will reach a larger audience and this did. I also don't plan on doing videos like this all the time, I still have many movie reactions to do as well. So yeah, I think I'm doing just fine, thank you. :)
(Also the editing is the exact same whether it's a long or short video, putting the reaction into one video doesn't mean there is any less to edit, the episodes are the same length, and the editing takes the same amount of time.)

i can't hate sang woo. he just wanted to take care of his mother and take care of his debts. everyone else was there doing the same thing but bc he went dark in order to win he gets a lot of hate, but it's realistic
Sang-woo was a fraudster who cheated people out of their hard-earned money then put his mother's livelihood on the chopping block, and he deserved to be in prison. He and Deok-su are the only ones we really know enough background about to know that they're just terrible people all around. All the other people who we get background on are just in dire straits because of bad decisions, unfortunate circumstances, and trauma.
He cared so much about his mother, he was committing suicide in the bathroom (carbon monoxide) leaving all his debt to his mother. Nope.
@@knowledge-girl I didn’t say he made good choices. I just said everybody there was in the same situation, and did the same thing. They did what they could to survive and win. His main goal was taking care of his mother because he knew he did her wrong.

Is it weird that I find it such a shame when someone guesses stuff before it happens? Like when reactors know or guess that "eliminated" means they die. It just lessens the impact of that first moment when the guy is shot and killed because rather than being shocked, people just sort of grimace and nod their head like "mmm yep, I knew it". I know it's hard to avoid spoilers for this show because it's just everywhere, but I don't know, it's still kinda disappointing lol
