He's a bad guy. That is one of my issues with the show. He's a bad guy but not such a bad guy that i wish death on him. So i just really didn't care if he lived or died.
16:51 WOW! The dub royally strips the game of part of its context there. The robot girl sings a very short song so you can time your movement accordingly. In the dub it seems as if she says green light and then a random amount of time later she says red light which would make it a totally different game, one about reaction time rather than rhythm/timing.
You guys should watch it in Korean. I was hesitant because I don’t usually enjoy reading subtitles but this way wayyyy better in its original form. I think the English voiceovers for this show are really dumb and take a lot of tension out of it

I'm in a sound design grad program and learned that no internationally dubbed version of a film sounds anything like the original because in the making of the film the dialogue and the true emotion behind it is purely based on how well the actors and actresses prepare when shooting.
@@qdkdicja10 As far as I know there are two versions on Netflix. I don't use Netflix, so I don't know for sure, but there are subtitles with sound displayed in the subtitles, that's a sucks one.
this is the first time i hear the dub, my god it is awful... It really takes away the amazing acting of the cast. I worry about the dramatic and emotional moments to come
@@oliviarogers3559 The point of acting including voice acting isnt so that you read the lines from a book with google text to speech. Its so that the story is viscerally heard. And the dub doesnt do that.
Not trying to be that guy. I know it is probably hard with reactions… but you are really going to miss some great acting by going dubbed instead of subtitles.
the little girl voice of green light red light in the game is amazing and creepy, in english doesn't feel the same, like it loses that eerie element, even the silence or the panic breathing of the characters are huge details that add realism to the show.
English dubs are often done really well. (I actually prefer the English versions for many Studio Ghibli movies.) Unfortunately, in this one, they seemed to have put zero effort into approximating the same environmental conditions as the original voices. So voices that are meant to sound outside, sound like an actor speaking directly into a microphone in a booth. And voices that are meant to be in a crowded restaurant, sound like an actor speaking directly into a microphone in a booth.
The dubs aren't great on this, I agree (except for Sae-byeok's voice actor; she's pretty great). But honestly, I would have a lot of trouble paying attention to the show if I had to read everything everyone said, so I understand watching the dubs instead.

It's a f*cking embarrassment to my English language. I have never cringed harder watching a show, I KID YOU NOT. I physically unable to watch reactors who watch the dub, so I'm going to leave, but it's not out of some stüpid prejudice against dubs or something, it's just that bad that it effects me negatively.
SO glad you guys are reacting to this. Watching it dubbed (with you) after watching the original really hammers home how bad the voice acting is though, it makes serious moments almost comical. There's some important moments and character building that will just be lost in the dubbed version.

Why not get professional voice actors? The dubs on most anime are better than this. This is like old Kung Fu Theater dubs. Holy cow. Or, maybe it's supposed to be. haha
People are saying do subtitles but you guys do whatever makes you feel comfortable, me personally I watched it dubbed just because I didn’t want to read subtitles and it was easier to follow with the dub. I’ve watched reactors do subtitles so I’ve seen both. But if it’s easier for you with the dub like it was for me, then that’s completely fine. You guys do what make you feel comfortable.
The death game movie you were talking about is Battle Royale, which is partially true. But this show is a derivative of another Japanese masterpiece - Kaiji (manga in 1996, anime in 2007, movie in 2009, 20011 and 2020).

I 100% grew up on Fun House!!! That's hilarious. We lived in Canada where we somehow managed to get it from the local Cleveland TV station across the water when I was like in grade 2 or 3. Uncanny, I haven't heard anyone else remember it that vividly in a long time!

I am going to echo what everyone recommended. Please, please watch the subtitle version. The dubbed version does not do justice to the brilliant acting and the pacing of the entire series.
I feel both proud and sad cause I binged the entire series the day it dropped. But now I wish I had watched it in moderation lol I'm having Squid Game withdrawalsl symptoms. Good thing these reactions are a thing now 🤣💜
I'd recommend watching it in Korean with the og English captions. Some characters were completely different than what they are and a sometimes the whole point of an episode will be thrown off.
The dub is definitely missing something. Red light green light is a close approximation but misses the sing song tension of “rose of Sharon’” speeding up each time. Or hibiscus to be more accurate.

I know not everyone enjoys or can handle subtitles, but if you can I’d 100% suggest not dubbing. The voice actors are lacking something - almost comical sounding at times. Either way, I’m excited for your reactions.
@@Nebulox Ok well I actually have a learning disability that would make watching the sub version hell for me and because of it I just would not enjoy it. Part of my disability is that I’m a slow reader so I would have to pause the show every 5 seconds just to have time to read all the subs which would just not be enjoyable for me at all . Just try to understand that everyone is different and not everyone is going to enjoy watching the Sub version .

If you've never seen "SLASHERS" from 2001, I have a feeling you guys would enjoy it so much. You don't need to react or anything to it - but I think you guys would get a kick out of it. It's been a favorite of mine for 20 years now - it's low budget and hard to find at times - but worth it.
imma say it now... I remember playing Ddakji as a child with my grandpa and I remember losing 15 dollars of my allowance. That was nearly 10 years ago. I tried playing just recently with my mother, still couldn't flip it. That game is just hard and now my elbow hurts... so the more you know kids, that paper flipping game is bullshit

If you've never seen "SLASHERS" from 2001, I have a feeling you guys would enjoy it so much. You don't need to react or anything to it - but I think you guys would get a kick out of it. It's been a favorite of mine for 20 years now - it's low budget and hard to find at times - but worth it.

imma say it now... I remember playing Ddakji as a child with my grandpa and I remember losing 15 dollars of my allowance. That was nearly 10 years ago. I tried playing just recently with my mother, still couldn't flip it. That game is just hard and now my elbow hurts... so the more you know kids, that paper flipping game is bullshit
