What are the ethics of Sikhism? What moral principles do the Guru's recommend? What do they discourage or prohibit? What is the Sikh rule book? What is the difference between rule based ethics and character based ethics?
This video explores these questions and gives the Sikh values, using Gurbani, the names of the Punj Piare and the last pauri of Jap ji Sahib. This last pauri gives us an anology of the True mint, where we cast the true coin, the true wealth of Naam, of the Shabad (ie Gurmantar).

As a Buddhist, I really value the principles of Sikhism. They give a good framework for living a compassionate, good life. I love the principle of giving one-tenth of your income before you keep any for yourself. I will aim to bring this practice into my life.
Sikhi and Buddhism has quite a lot of parallels.
@@justiceprovider9822a lot of religions have parallels with sikhi since they contain parts of the truth
I am a Hindu, but I enjoy your videos very much. You have a very good explanation of Sikhism

If giving charity gives an iota of merit, then why sikhs give dasvand (10 part of earnings as charity) ? Thanks in advance for answering
bally2617 I think I interpreted this as giving for prideful reasons without fostering compassion and love in yourself will give you only an iota of merit. Don't just give because you were told to and it makes you feel good just in yourself. You should give with true compassion for those you give to, and not for the benefit of yourself. Only then will you gain the benefit of charity. (Just my interpretation of this video - I'm not Sikh)
Waheguru waheguru
Who wrote Guru Granth Sahib ji?
Google it
Hi, I'm doing a comparative religion on murder. Are there any specific verses on murder in Sikhism? I can't seem to find any
To my knowledge there is none, however we are encouraged to be moral, ethical people. Hope that helps
@@idkplusmax3893 I see, but ya that is basically what every religion aims to have - ethical individuals. May i ask tho, how is a murderer punished in sikhism, if any?
@@MatDanoo usually we’d go by the law in the nation were in. In the Sikh empire everyone(no matter what crime)was given a second chance. Surprisingly nobody actually committed a second crime after that(from all records anyway). There was no death penalty or anything of the sorts unlike other Indian kingdoms and the British.
Better alcohol and tobacco, never, have done me any good.
