The soundlink flex is one of the cleanest sounding speakers out of all. Jbl might have a better bass but holy shit the clarity of the bose one is incomparable
I ordered blue Max for $299 thru Amazon (and had a $100 gift card 🤣). Here's my take.... the Max is the closest to hifi sound than any portable speaker I've listened to, the sound is just amazing. But it's not the speaker that I would use as a "party" speaker or a "boombox" outside that you need to cut thru noise or fill a larger outdoor area. I use it in relatively close proximity (living room and smaller, and my hot tub area) and the sound is unmatched for this size speaker. I also listened side by side with Flex and for me there is no comparison. Some reviewers say 2 Flex have an "equivalent" sound, but not to me. If you want a fantastic sound in a relatively small space, this speaker is def worth the $299 price tag and gives you an incredible listening experience. Btw, I don't play over 80% volume or I'd be looking for a diff speaker/application. Hope this helps!
I listened to the Max at Best Buy a couple weeks ago, the sound is impressive. I was so tempted to get it the Max, but instead I bought a second original Flex instead last weekend, to go along with the Flex I've had for 2 years. After listening to these speakers together in Stereo Mode, this will work for me for a while. The Bose App to connect these speakers is total crap, and often impossible to link the speakers, so I pair them together with the button control sequence, and that's a great workaround. The Max is still on my radar down the road, but in a couple years it will be interesting to see what the competition brings to the table as well.
@@mi-da2920 - Yeah, I agree with you, the Max sounds so damn good! So got a question for you, can you pair 2 Maxes together? I wasn't sure if the Max had this ability already or if this was a planned future firmware update.
@@mi-da2920 - Glad to hear that the Bose Max can be paired - I am going to keep an eye out on that one in the future. I went to Best Buy to listen to both. To me there is absolutely no comparison between the two. Max sounds better by far, they are in two different classes of speakers. The Flex is more portable for those wanting smaller footprint. The Max is for those who want a much bigger and better sound experience. The Max has dropped to $300 which is still to high, but I think it would be a fair value at $250. Also, they def need to upgrade the Bluetooth version.

Surprisingly, just from TH-cam comparisons, The Flex seems to have clearer mids and treble without sounding harsh. I had high hopes for the Max but as you pointed out, the sound seems to lackluster in the mids and higher frequencies despite have more sizzle in the treble region.
i have watch another video where 2 flex are not even match with 1 max, but this video flex is doing a very good sounding then the max. is it the max are fake?
sound quality is different after you increase beyond 75%.. bass gets decreased and other mid and treble gets over bass whilst sound is balanced below 75%volume. That is why here, it is incomparable. As you have increased the volume of flex beyond 75% bass is obviously low... Please put both of them at 70% around and that is justifiable. Both are amazing though... fo for Bose if you want the quality in music......
The max sounds really good. Well it sounds good through your mic, TH-cam compression and then replayed through my Bose QC35 headphones. I bought a JBL Charge 5 about a year ago and while I really like the sound, design, battery life etc, the Bluetooth is absolute garbage. It is by far the worst Bluetooth device I have ever owned. It crackles and cuts out and as soon as you connect another phone (it can have two phones connected at once) all hell breaks loose and it becomes a garbles crackly mess. It really is terrible. I am cosidering taking it back. My brother didnt know that I got a JBL so he bought me a Bose Soundlink Flex for christmas and while I think the Charge 5 sounds way better and has longer battery life, the Soundlink Flex is SOOOOO much better in every other way. The bluetooth is rock solid with no crackling even with two phones connected, it has a shortcut button to switch between devices (super handy when you are in the shower) it has a mic so you can talk to Siri/Google (again super handy when you are in the shower and want your song) and the voice feedback from the speaker is handy too. This is my first JBL and unfortunately I think it will be my last. The BT is garbage.

Comparing an active speaker on its nominal amp SPL with another on its max SPL is a nonsense: the compressor will totally suprime the bass by more than 10 dB which can be audible in the first comparison. Better down the Flex to a nominal longterm value, and then match the Max with it by a Vumeter: then you can present a proper comparison. One should expect bigger drivers to have more low end, and since Flex is not true stereo probably Max have better soundstage (if one can talk about soundstage in those little speakers). I had Flex at home and is way bass-enhanced, internal DSP sending a lot of energy to little drivers and helped with passive radiators: as a result lows kills mid range. Is probably that Max will handle better this issue, as it doesn’t need as much as help on the low end
The new beats pill can play deeper frequencies than the Bose flex but the Bose flex has a stronger bass at average volume, much stronger bass at max volume, and no distortion at max volume while the Pill distorts and just sounds bad at max volume. I returned the 2024 beats pill and kept the Flex.
