Very useful vid, just bought a Moto G5 a couple days ago and this helped with my SD card.
The moto g stylus (5g) is great! MINUS the fact that one can no longer transfer apps or stuff onto micro SD cards, which is not cool since they still advertise that these phones support extended storage. If they don't then it needs to be removed as a feature...Basically forced to used just internal storage, but I like having options with storage. Literally the only complaint I have with it though.

It doesn't give me the option to change the location to the SD card when I go into the app settings. Can I move the storage of my music from the Google Play Store?
Moto updated the phone so now we can't do it anymore! Its shit now :(
@@DanzoSrife I didn't do the update and I still don't have the option but I don't use 'adopted storage' either because I want to be able to read the SD card is a device other than just the phone.

2019: Moto has updated the phone so "Apps " no longer exists, but apps and notifications. In addition, going to individual programs/apps in either of these menus deleted all options to move data!

I have no problem playing sound files from the SD card when it is configured as portable storage. I do not understand why you said it can't be used unless you have the Moto G5 Plus adopt it.

totally different moto G5 to my mum's I'm trying to see if can move apps to new SD card I got for her as its a peice of crap phone! I've got her a new G9 for Xmas hopefully get on better with that

@NamasteTech when you shift pictures to SD Card, do they get stored in folders and according to date like in Google Photos? Or is it just random? Also, how do you access them later?
They are stored in the same way as they were saved in the internal storage. Inside DCIM folder. Use a file manager to access them

i want to do this to move photos from my phone to pc as, for some reason, the usb transfer option on my phone is not working. If i do like you say with formatting a new card and transferring files, can i then remove the card, plug into my pc and download, or will the card not be recognized by my pc as it is formatted in the phone?. However i can do it, i just want to get he photos and video of my phone onto my pc.
My menus don't correspond since this apparent update..my 64gb SD card is almost empty..my internal storage is warning me that my memory is almost full (photos) but I use DROPBOX...All my photos are transfered to my laptop..my phone, ;laptop and tablet are all synced to Dropbox..it's a free storage and editing programme (until your storage allowance is full..but you can delete) Excellent and everything can be stored on your PC...HTH

@NamasteTech, bhai, I am facing a problem. SD card ko internal memory ke saath attach karke itna din use kar raha tha. Magar mera sirf internal memory occupied ho raha tha. Abhi main Data Migration kia toh internal memory ka files external main aagaya tha aur internal memory free dikha raha tha. Achanak notice kia ki internal memory fir se full ho gaya hain...
Abhi files internal memory se delete kar raha hu, magar delete hone baad fir se khud-ba-khud chale aa raha hain. Internal memory ka occupied space same dikha raha hain.....

Im using samsung evo+ 32gb class 10 sd card on moto g5 plus and the card is effecting the performance of my phone after formating to my internal storage.So this is same issue with every sd card on G5+ or there is any solution for it because after using class 10 sd card this kind of performance is not expected at all.Please help me out
EVO+ is not really a fast card despite its Class 10 rating.

Back up/copy to your computer or cloud storage. Format the SD card and then transfer the data back over to your SD card.

Most of the OEM'S have removed this option. The other option is to.merge SD card storage with phone, if it's available
@@NamasteTech Thank you. I did not find the merge option but use SD card as an internal storage. It still does not allow to move the applications to SD card.
