    Dracula 2000 was rushed to get it released in 2000. Lussier wanted more time, but Craven Told him to finish it on time. It was completed a week and a half before the theatrical release.

    The name of Erika Eleniak's character in Dracula 3000 is an obvious nod to Alien. I quite enjoyed Dracula 2000 (the revelation of Dracula's true identity was really surprising). Gerard Butler is not as great as Gary Oldman in Bram Stoker's Dracula, but he did a good job.

    Other then the scene with Mary and Dracula's brides that looked a little wonky at her house. I thought this was a damn good movie, and love how they changed up his lore. Even though they explain how Dracula's body got mixed up with another and lead to Mary thinking she had his body. Also why Dracula looks different in the other movies. I didn't not care for the sequels.

    I know the joke about the Demeter was a reference to The Last Voyage of the Demeter film, however in 2020 Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat (the creators of Sherlock) did their own take on Dracula in a 3 episode miniseries. The second episode (which by British standards lasts about 80 minutes) took place entirely on the Demeter. And it's a great series overall.

    Dracula 2000 is another guilty pleasure of mine. Plus, it has Vitamin C in the movie. Her Graduation Song was my high school graduation song. Also, the movie had a great cast with Gerald Butler, Johnny Lee Miller, Christopher Plummer, Jennifer Esposito, Shane West, Omar Epps, Vitamin C (of course), Jeri Ryan, and Sean Patrick Thomas (we don't talk about that criminal). The movie also has a banger soundtrack. I think I still have the CD.

    I liked the new direction for Dracula 2000, of having Dracula revealed as Judas and giving an explanation to why he hates anything holy or made of Silver.

    Fun video! So glad to see Drac 3000 mentioned. That movie isn't great, but the ending was so incredibly abrupt and tone-deaf that it made everyone in the room laugh for minutes on end. Worth the entire runtime!

    I rather enjoyed Dracula 3, it does some fun things and is a solid v-movie road adventure. Lots of little bits like the vampire circus and the revolution seeming to be spurred by the possibility of Dracula already dominating the government and was secretly ruling from afar really make this one fun.

    Have you ever noticed how many Direct to video sequels are filmed in Romania, Bulgaria or other European countries?: Fright Night 2: New Blood, Subspecies, I Spit on your Grave 2, this movie, etc. Lower taxes I guess.

    • @BennyLlama39
      @BennyLlama39 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Or the budget just goes farther. For example: $1 million spent in the US, *maybe* pay the cast if it's a bunch of unknowns. $1 million spent in Europe, you get the entire cast, sets, costumes, catering, etc. etc., *and* still have some for "donations" to the officials when you don't have the necessary permits. (A bit of exaggeration, but you get the point. 🙂 )

    • @MAMoreno

      Dimension Films figured this out in the early 2000s and filmed a lot of their direct-to-video sequels in Romania.

    No joke, my tv glitched when I tried to watch the first movie in the series and played The Naked Gun 3 instead, and it took me until the title sequence to realize, that’s how low my expectations were going in. I’m looking forward to completing this series though.

    Point of order: Ruther Hauer didn't play Dracula in Argento's movie. He played Van Helsing. Thomas Kretchmann was Drac.
    I thought the concept of Judas being the first vampire was interesting. However, his also being Vlad Dracula, prince of Wallachai never really fit with that.

    If you want to see an actually good version of the Demeter story, check out the BBC "Dracula" miniseries from a couple of years ago. The Demeter section is the 2nd of 3 parts. The whole miniseries is good, but Part 2 was my favourite.

LOL at the Demeter reference edit I have this movie confused with another one. Trainspotting is the greatest movie of all time so I appreciate the sick boy ref

    Dracula 2000 was okay. The Judas Iscariot reveal at the very end of the film felt like a complete afterthought, and it really did nothing but muddle his connection to any historical Draculas. Plus, let's face it: Gerard Butler didn't exactly look like a first-century Galilean Jew. Granted, he didn't really look much like a 15th century Romanian, either, especially at that age.
