    I really appreciate Melanie Phillips' journey. This helps me to see the bigger picture. In some ways, I have blamed our youth for not being educated (i.e., video games, distracted, hate books, etc.), but I realize now that it is our education system that has let them down. Also the break down of the family has not helped.

    Ralph Dahrendorf, a famous liberal german professor of sociology and director of the London School of Economics, once openly declared that there cannot be any real democracy without a nation state. The nation state is a necessary precondition for democracy. This statement holds still true in my opinion..

    As a practitioner I combined social work and psychology degrees to develop an evidence based practice. For twenty years served my community with 70% of my clients coming from word of mouth. Eighty percent were female. Eventually I was forced out by this 'woke' ideology including its lies, slander and defamation. I developed a contempt for my managers and some colleagues who tried to enforce on myself this 'woke' ideology. I finally resigned a well payed job that had become detrimental to my mental health. I am poorer however I still own my mind.

    It was about five years ago I came to a startling conclusion. The conclusion was that the best model of education for children was indeed the Victorian model of the 19th century. The Victorians taught students the history and philosophy of the Greeks and Romans at a starting point. This is the basis for our modern western society. The only modification I would make would be to include the science of the last 200 years.
    How did I come to this conclusion? This is my brief history. Raised as a Catholic in the mid 20th century but lost my belief and faith as I learned of the negatives of religion. Gained an engineering degree. Then a teaching degree 10 years ago. What I was taught in that course and what I saw in schools close up, horrified me. It was chaos and anarchy. While thinking of how this came about I realised that students were disconnected from their origins as taught in the classic Victorian curriculum. So this is what we need to get back to.

Surprised that MORE people aren't tuned into her but like Thomas Sowell, if the powers that control us, can't debate these intellectuals , they just hide them from the rest of society.

    Everybody is on about teachers as if they were the primary educators. They are not! The primary educators are parents. Let us lay the blame for the breakdown of western society at the feet of the parent. The parents are responsible for not raising their children to be knowledgable, logical and having a balanced view of the world and humanity.

      @@mayflowerlash11 Apart from the fairness test which you already failed, your preference to believe that morality exists, apart from their being a moral law giver leaves you as a victim to any one or any group who wishes to devise their own morality based on what they like and don't like. There is actually only one law, the law of physics. Every other law has its roots in the law of physics. The law of physics does not give rist to morality or ethics nor can it. If life arose through random natural processes, every life form is merely a mutated form of a previous mutated lifeform. Life is an endless series of purposeless mutations. All life is merely sacks of chemicals arranged in different ways according to the laws of physics and chance. There is no morality, not good or bad in the laws of physics. Without an absolute good, a higher authority, everything else is just man made.
      And Jesus said to him, “Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone. Luke 18:19. - and so it is.

      @@mikeheath8318 Without absolute good, a higher authority? So you base your ethics on the Bible. I refer you to The Skeptic's Annotated Bible. Fortunately somebody else has done all the work to point out in detail the contradictions in the good book. I encourage you to read it, at least so you can make your argument that the Bible is consistent. When I say it is flawed I mean that a person can justify any action by selecting the appropriate verses from the Bible. So absolute is not a term I would use to describe the Bible.

      @@mayflowerlash11 well well and bravery spoken. Don't be deceived for God is not mocked. For whatever a man sows the he shall also reap. If you sow to the flesh of the flesh you will reap corruption and if you sow to the Spirit, of the Spirit you shall reap everlasting life. Sounds like you haven't read the Bible for yourself and relied on error and deception to gain your worldview. The biggest trick the devil has played on mankind is to convince them that he doesn't exist. You are being deceived and that's the truth of the matter. Everything that is blinding the eyes of the world is written in the Scriptures. For perilous times will come leading up to the return of Christ. Take heed that no one deceives you. I disagree that the christian bible is the only basis for morality. Have you read that book, that scripture. It contains so many inconsistencies that I marvel that anybody can survive the mental contortions need to believe that it is a suitable basis to lead a moral life. So what is the alternative. Certainly not the ideologies of Marxism, post modernism or any of the twisted flawed ideals. There must be a philosophy based on sound ideas which can be used to guide ones choices in a morally acceptable manner. I am shocked that it occurs to me that I, the philosophical amateur, must formulate this plan on my own. Where is the philosophy which contains no racism, no bias, that is ethically fair and can be practically used to help me make the best decisions?

      @@mikeheath8318 What is the difference between an individual who decides what is ethical and a person who decides to get their morality by selecting the verses in the Bible they think are the right verses to base their ethics on? You have not addressed the contradictions in the Bible. One verse says thou shalt not kill, another verse says turn your ploughshares into swords. If you decide to use the Bible you can choose to be a killer or a pacifist, and be morally right on both occasions. Selectively picking verse from the Bible to follow is the same as deciding what you yourself want to be morally correct. So the answer to my first question is, there is no difference. The Bible is a flawed text to base ones ethics on.

    • @mikeheath8318
      @mikeheath8318 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mayflowerlash11 You should check your sources, especially when it comes to the Bible. The commandment says that you shall not murder (Hebrew). Clearly the Hebrews were told to kill, it was war etc, so it would indeed be a contradiction if God had said do not kill - but he didn't. The same is often true for all other so called Bible contradictions. However, this is not the issue.
      A person can choose any source for his morality or ethics, including any religious or non-religious book, and if God doesn't exist then they are all likewise relativistic and delusional. However, if God does exist, and he is the creator of all we see and know, and is Holy as he claims, then he knows what is best, and has the right to say so.
