I got to my Long and Mcquade store for a good pro set up to my LP 2016 Trad....
Tried a R9 custom shop while waiting....
Huhh great guitar but a really bad investment...will keep mine 2016 forever

If your traditional speaks to you that much then it's a keeper! I've always bonded really well with my 2014 Les Paul Traditional. Great Guitars! Cheers -Ryan

Second question… i saw that this has unpotted Custom Buckers. Do they squeal when you turn up your amp and play any high gain jams? Or is that concern blown out of proportion?

Blown out of proportion. They can squeal at very high gain without a noise gate, for sure. But nothing crazy. It was a major concern of mine before getting any VOS guitars… until I remembered that the pickups on my Standard 50s and Standard 60s are unpotted. Cheers -Ryan

Hey man. Random question. Any chance you’ll ever review a non-Gibson (yet Gibson-adjacent guitar)? I’d love to get your thoughts on a Heritage H-150 Custom Core and how it compares to a Gibson Custom Shop R9. Thanks, man!

I only really review what I own. Unless I decide to buy a Heritage Guitar then it’s not likely. Cheers -Ryan

My #1 is a Gibson Custom Shop Les Paul R8 in dirty green lemon fade. Say that 10xs fast lol. Yes the Custom Shop guitars are more expensive but if it inspires you to play every day, it checks all the boxes. Even though my hands are not large, I prefer the baseball bat neck, it fits best in my hands. Unpotted PUPs are the way to go for me as well as under wound. Feedback is great as long as you know how to control it, that’s a great sound that you can’t get out of wax potted. Your R9 sounds fantastic. The only other guitar in my collection that gives my R8 a really good fight is my Gibson ES-345 that’s USA line, not Custom Shop. It’s my #2 but she always argues with me lol. I believe the people that complain on the high prices will never buy one anyways and that’s a shame because they are exceptional instruments.

I just ordered a '57 Double Gold Darkback Reissue. Never tried a custom shop before but I'm curious and looking forward to receiving it.

@@Crypticmaskguitar thank you. maybe you can answer this... How is the playability because they have the tall narrow frets?
Fluent playing is no issue or bendings?

I have not experienced any issues whatsoever with narrow talls, I actually prefer them to medium jumbo. I bend a lot in my playing as well. Cheers -Ryan
