As always, excellent video Jaxon. We absolutely loved the content. You did an awesome job showcasing everything and have definitely made us want to visit Japan. Great choices on the pickups too :)
Love from Japan! Your video, including japan trip vlogs, is so nice and your passion to gloves is awesome!! And thank you for introducing my favorites, slugger!
never really wanted to go there but now I definitely am in the future. Would be nice to have something in common with people when in a country you dont speak the language of. I imagine it was a blast talking baseball with the shop owners who spoke some English. The Wilson bear glove you got was my favorite. Super clean/simple and has just the right amount of accents with the stitching.
Great video. ...I've been collecting Made in Japan SSK glove since Gregg Jefferies' 1989 Topps Baseball Card. He was wearing his SSK Pro-6400? Can't remember the exact model. ...but ever since be on the hunt for MIJ SSK. Six or years ago, I went to Japan for work and went to the dome and probably the shop near the dome, i think you called it "baseman"? So, this video brings back memories and so glad to see "younger" generation have the love of the glove. Keep up the great content!
Currently breaking-in my SSK S 1350 and it's a dream. Been faithful to Rawlings and even had the rare pleasure of MLB BB production in Turrialba, Costa Rica. Japanese glove tech raised the bar.
They have some cool designs. I have played in mens adult hardball leagues in Southern California. I never seen a variety of gloves like that. I have played with the same Rawlings 12” pro glove for 15 years now. The higher quality of leather you buy will make your glove will last a long time.
Watched this video a million times. Just got my new Wilson Bear 🐻, from Baseball Mario. Store was sick. The area is a good time as well. Everyone is thinking of going, do it you won’t be mad you did
Great video. I used to collect gloves back in the day. Love vintage gloves too. There's something about using a glove that someone wore in the 40s 50s or 60s that feels sick.
Dude... great video. I've always been abit of a baseball fanatic myself and always wanted to go to see games over there. I loved that the Tokyo dome is like how our stadium in Vancouver used to be. We revamped our stadium though when the roof tore from snow and ice. We have a partially retractable roof now over the fans instead of the air filled air-lock dome. I love that there's glove shops like that in Japan. So much selection instead of a little section in a sporting goods store. Oh yeah, if this sounds like a guy it's because it is. My girlfriends account is on our computer.😅😂
@@jaxongloves8353 Right on. Pretty good winter season for surf you guys been getting. I got relatives in Carlsbad and Oceanside and try to paddle out when I visit them. 🤙🏽
My uncle pitched for the yokahoma bay stars and the Tokyo giants, and he was sponsored by mizuno. I have a custom glove from 2006 that he had made for me and I have yet to see another one with the same pouch and overall style mine has. It just seems no matter what the Japanese make it always has a different/beautiful style.
Most gloves in Japan are designed to be worn traditional especially traditional Japanese brands like Kubota Slugger. The pinky slot is smaller and the pocket around the index finger wont hold its shape without your hand placed behind it.
I had a great conversation about that at slugger! they have a method to make the pinky slot adjusted but I wanted to keep it traditional. can't mess with perfection
Glad to hear that. BTW the glove that you received from Kubota Slugger , EGS-90 AR4, is a limited edition model commemorating the 90th birthday of Kubota Slugger's master craftman Shigetoshi Egashira (that's why the model is EGS-90). The guy invented the Yumomi Shaping Method you mentioned in the video. The glove pattern is AR4, middle infield pattern with deep pocket (in Kubota Slugger standards) around the web and index finger. Old Kubota Slugger glove patterns are generally very shallow and shaped like a pancake. I assume the staffs in Kubota Slugger recommended AR4 because it's similar to US glove patterns. All in all, I love your video and thank you for introducing the glove culture in Japan, my homeland, to the US community. Both cultures are very cool and hope more information will be shared between them.

Do you know if you can get ball gloves with a deerskin liner? Traditionally, the palms of the Kote (the wrist guard/gauntlets used in Kendo) are made from deer leather. New kote with the deer palms have this unique smokey woodsy bacon-like scent. It's amazing. I wonder if someone ever thought to bring that over to the baseball world.
