#2 I hear ya! I started marketing myself really open and vague as a "technical writer". It worked well to get some early gigs under my belt but once things took off there was just way too much variation in the type of work and the topics that came my way. I very quickly chose to focus on User Guides and Instruction Manuals and haven't looked back. Now to work on #3... thanks Carrie!
'No one’s going to see you as a good fit for the position until you prove that you will be a good fit for the position'. Very well said. I'm going to have that chiseled on my tombstone.

Hi, Carrie! I've taken your advice and completely flushed out my profile and made it look cohesive and professional. (I'm actually really proud of it!) However, all my gigs are currently sitting in my drafts as I'm paralyzed with fear of failure! BUT your videos are a big help, so thank you! Hopefully I can muster enough courage and just take the plunge.

I've been following all your tips and watching almost all your videos and finally after 3 months of supreme patience I made my first sale for 80$, and 2 days after that a second sale for the same client for 40$, since then the impressions of my gig have increased a bit but hardly anyone clicks on it. Maybe I should change the cover of the gig or the tittle? I don't know this could turn the situation for even worse statistics
Congrats on your first few sales! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 That’s such a specific scenario that I can’t offer blanket advice except - if you can do something better, do it. As you said, hardly anyone is clicking, so you need to make changes to address that (more than just a gig image to consider - th-cam.com/video/1ds3eQZLw0I/w-d-xo.html) and not just sit waiting with something that doesn’t work because you have a (probably unfounded) worry about the algorithm. If you’d like to consult with me one-on-one, I’d love to help you strategize in this particular situation and make the most effective improvements - bit.ly/carriebloggerconsult Good luck!
Enjoying your great tips. 4:44 To be honest, I disagree. Charging $5 and delivering quality work won't make people suspicious or anything, I think that's the right and logical thing to do when starting out (not necessarily $5, I mean "low ticket" pricing). People understand that new sellers want to build their way up. But I don't know, just my opinion.
Thank you so, so, much for this video. I’m taking a course on email copywriting but the guy teaching it is ONLY teaching the skill. NOT how to get clients/jobs and I’m wildly terrified that I don’t have what it takes to make it as a freelancer. Sometimes I feel like I don’t even know the basics, like I don’t even know where to start. Are there any tools, software, programs I should be familiarizing myself with, are there any skills aside from the writing I should be learning? Should I be learning how to code? 🤷♂️ I find myself constantly asking myself these questions and I can’t seem to find any good answers when I go looking. It’s thanks to people like you and Sean Ogel that I feel like I at least have a shot at success so long as I apply myself
You can choose to offer those additional services - coding email design, deploying through programs, strategizing custom audience marketing schedules, etc… but only if you want to. Personally, I play to my strengths and let others do the rest. I deliver the email content back in a word document, just like all of my writing services. After all, I’m a writer, not a web designer (at least - not yet 😉)
Hi Carrie! Love your videos but I have a question about point #2: being too vague. What if the area you are freelancing in is more generic than niche? For example, proofreading and editing others' work. That can be done for anything from poetry to personal statements. It it better to specify your gig as proofreading in one area, like personal statements, or to do all? Tysm!
That’s the point. Yes, you caaaaan proofread literally anything, but that’s not (likely) going to work from a sales perspective. Proofread your fantasy novel, however ✨
Hi Carrie, I'm a level one seller on Fiverr. I basically sell flyer, banner & UI. I'm also working as a content writer but not on any online platform. I take work from local market. Now, my question is, would it be wise to create a content writing service gig on my graphics design Fiverr profile? I hope this is not a dumb question:3 Thank you 💕
Only if your content writing skills are as strong as your work in graphic design. You have to have impeccable grammar, an eye for marketing, creative ideas, and total command of the language to realize them Check out my copywriting course if you’re interested! - bit.ly/carriebloggercourse
