How One Couple’s Dream Vacation In Mexico Turned Into A Nightmare | Megyn Kelly TODAY
The first thing that came to my mind when they said she was unconscious with a gash in her head and they required $4k to stitch her up was that they drugged them, intentionally injured her, then “found” her and charged them way too much. Ultimately I think they were drugged and attacked for hospital money
I live in Mexico and that medical procedure should not cost more that $500 max...
It's not just Mexico.
It's everywhere.
Happened to me in London.
I was hosting a very large charity benefit after I flew into town from the US.
I drank a glass of champagne. That was it.
Next thing you know I found myself on the floor of the bathroom stall passed out.
I was mortified.
I felt absolute shame.
It wasn't until later that I realized someone had drugged my drink.
There is absoutely nothing wrong with London, I have been there on holiday a fab place
Im sorry about your experience. Its true. It can happen anywhere
@346 NYC Was Cardib anywhere around? 🤭🤭
@@Audrey-faithlife Good lord. Just because you didn't have a negative experience doesn't mean that nothing bad ever happens there. Heck I was in Biloxi Mississippi one night at a Casino. I got a beer and within a few minutes from only drinking half the beer I started experiencing sharp chest pains, I was lightheaded, and couldn't see straight. I have no doubt that I was drugged. This was over 16 years ago and I haven't felt like that ever again. I have yet to ever get another drink from a casino.
There's stabbings in London every other day in London!
I’m Mexican and this is scary. I just got back from Cancun and I’m barely seeing this video . Seriously terrifying. I wish they would name the name of the resort to kind of have an idea of where it’s at. I’ve heard it’s certain parts of Mexico .
I love Mexico and I go there frequently. I think Mexicans, in general, are extremely welcoming and lovely people. However, the amount of corruption and ineptitude of the government is unfathomable. Further, tourists are at risk no matter the country. I have the luxury of being fluent in Spanish and I don't hang in touristy areas. I wouldn't advise to completely avoid Mexico, but for now, I'd avoid these types of resorts until they clean up their act and the government takes greater responsibility. You can rent amazing Airbnb accommodations for a fraction of the cost anyway.
That is not only in Mexico. That happened to my brother and cousin in Miami Beach. They went to have dinner at a pizza place, ordered a drink and blacked out. My brother woke up at 4 am in the parking lot of a CVS. My cousin woke up the next day at noon in the ER of a hospital. Neither one could remember anything.
I went to Mexico last year; as soon as we arrived we saw a lady bleeding severely from her leg, obviously in shock. She had slipped and fallen on stairs and sliced her knee open to the bone. Hotel staff didn't do a thing. My friend who is a lifeguard administered first aid that potentially saved the woman's life. When she later returned she told us that she said to pay over $5000 USD in the Mexican hospital and when she returned home, she had an infection and had to get a minor surgery. Mexico is a beautiful country, but I would advise tourists and travellers to be cautious and buy travellers insurance.
Mexico is not beautiful
We went to Cancun a couple years ago. First night, I had one drink. It was the worse night of my life. I thought my head was going to explode. Not like a handover, just extremely painful. I never had another drink. Stay away from all alcohol. Not just in Mexico. It happens everywhere.
@Elsa. That's abstinence from a horrible experience with alcohol. Islam forbids alcoholic drinks of any kind - no exceptions. Of course, some of the heavy drinkers I know are Muslims.
Exactly.
They are tainting even water these days.
He found her passed out on the bathroom floor and said, "what are you doing? I thought we were going to dinner ?"
Jennifer Dallas lol
Right?
He didn't ask if she was ok ?
Check her pulse?
He eyes?
What are you doing?
I thought we were going to dinner?
Oh you know, just taking a quick nap on this gross hotel bathroom floor, totally normal
@@kylaarmstrong-benjamin5986 I believe he was drugged, too (didn't hit him as hard).
He was hungry
Yes, he was drugged too & past out again.
This hit home. I went to Cuba in November and on the first night I had a beer and woke up in a different room than my original hotel room, I felt weird and very scared so I went to the front desk and begged them to tell me who’s room it was but they denied to tell me. I couldn’t watch the whole video it just made me think of that night and to this day I still don’t know what happened
Oh my gosh I’m so sorry…I’ve got MY SELF Into so crazy situations getting black out drunk on my own…I could never imagine what you went through I am so sorry that happened to you honey!
Maybe they needed to clean your first room.
Omg how scary poor you
What gets me is that women fly around the world going to all these foreign countries with horrible reputations. They go in thinking they can act so called normal and they expect to be treated with respect like they are in the US.
But men from around the world look at the women in America, the ones that they see in the magazines and on the television and they think we're all a bunch of hoochie mamas.
So if you get treated like that you shouldn't be surprised.
First thing you did is went and had a drink. Probably by yourself probably dressed like most of American women dress,.. like nowadays, not much on, 😵 and then you expect everything to go normally? That's the first thing that's wrong with what you did, and what you seem to not be able to figure out to this day! 🤯
WHOA!!
Sorry to hear that!
Im mexican, and I feel awful when I see this videos! How is it possible that our authorities allow such things?! Tourists bring money and prosperity to the region! Hotels should be better controlled! How can a Hotel ask for 4000 usd to give medical attention?! In that case, they should ask for an insurance number or something like that! and by the way, such a procedure in Mexico does NOT costs 4000 USD.
American insurance number is worthless in another country and in the U.S for an ambulance is about 5,000 dolares with insurance without is even more
That was exactly what I thought. $4,000 USD???? Fishy.
Don’t feel bad boo this could have easily have happened to then in New York too 😒 or in town in the US
Ratonchen It’s not your fault. I get why you might feel embarrassed, but your country has a huge problem with cartels, organized crime (not unlike us) , and people not trusting police or other authorities. Do you think that the lack of trust and lack of cooperation between agencies are part of the problem? I am also concerned about the state of their medical care. Is that a problem?
anne smith What are you talking about. In on what exactly?
I realize many people doesn't like Megyn, but, her show is never boring. Very informative. I've learned a lot watching her shows.
People don't like her because "there was blood coming out of her....."
@@captain2ahab No. Her personality can come across snobby. But i think she's very smart. I miss her show.
They watch for the guest not her she’s absolutely dreadful
You are absolutely correct..she is abrasive
I am a bartender and let me tell you it's so easy to serve someone a shady drink
omg
You don’t have to be bartender to know that. Gee...
And in many drinks, you can smell it.. I mean if a drink doesnt taste good after one mouthfull, DONT drink it... If you cant smell the alcohol, or in any way have a idea whats in the glass.. DONT drink it.
@Holly Welch I just think it means what she says, its easy to put things in a drink that shouldnt be there, specially IF the guest isnt paying attention :) That doesnt mean SHE have done it, it just mean she is right
Well your comment is very questionable... I guess mexico isn’t the only country that practice this.
Glad I'm too poor to go on vacation lol
Cats Forever 🤣🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂😂😂blessed are the poor
😂
Me too buddy :’(
My vacations are at home ....all included!!!😃
#canrelate 😂😩
I'm from Mexico and this does happen a lot visitors being drugged, killed and kidnapped this is sad
My husband and I stayed at the royal Imperial Maya and it was top notch!! NEVER got sick, never had any problems at all. It was a beautiful place with excellent service. I don't doubt that some funny business can go on, but that was not our experience. People forget that when you are in the sun, and drinking, one can get dehydrated very quickly. It is close to the equator. Which make can make it even worse for sunstroke. Drinking in the heat, when you are not used to it can be dangerous. I don't think that these resorts have an "agenda' . They want people to visit.
I think you just got lucky. People are being drugged. I wouldn't go to Mexico.
jill oh please Mary Alice Louise. They were in the resort. Had two shots and went upstairs. I’m certain they were drugged think of ow many people go to Mexico and drink in the sun.
I'm glad you had a great experience, Jill! And you're right about hazards of heat, the sun, and alcohol/dehydration. However, it's not fair to brush off testimony of people and loved ones killed and harmed by criminal acts there. It invalidates their experiences. Btw, thugs don't care about tourism. Cartels probably own most resorts now to launder their filthy money.
Cartels would rather have tourists come back if they owned it. And do cartels really need to launder money in Mexico? I thought they were untouchable?
Okay, 5 shots in 2 hours on vacation is NOT drinking heavily
I agree I think some of these people are lying just to get 💰
@Chris Piper I believe you,if you really do think about it why is this mostly happen in deminica replublican, and Mexico? And they said don't drink Mexico water I heard that too.
@Chris Piper I agree
Yep
Most of these resorts are indirectly or directly owned by cartels to launder their money. I feel like spending money on these "all inclusive resorts" is basically helping them make more money. It's a sad state of affair that would eventually affect the local people.
My husband and I cancelled our 10 year wedding anniversary vacation to Mexico last year for this very reason.
Bethany H
GOOD JOB! MANY BEAUTIFUL AREAS IN THE U.S. !
😂😂😂😂 maybe refrain from drinking?
Maria Rodriguez how do you not drink on a anniversary, wtf.
Bethany H that’s awful. I’m so sorry about that. It’s a very sad story
Or buy your own, don't order from a bar.
I always drink from sealed containers...drinks served in open glasses could get tainted soo quickly! Im from wisconsin too...very thankful this couple survived!
This happened to my family at a Mexican resort. My parents don’t remember most of the day although I hate lunch with them! It’s crazy how often this is happening!
If you dont get in trouble, trouble wont find you. You just need to stay in public areas, and dont try to go get drugs or walk on the streets alone late.
Olivia Saperstein
Why it is only happening to you, guys? The beverages are the same for tourists of all nationalities. Same alcohol, same ice...
The Rap Vault no where is safe but I'll take the US over almost anywhere else.
CC 1974 whites are the real illegals living on stolen land give it back to the natives & go back to Europe no one is illegal on stolen land
CC 1974 please don’t confused us with the Central Americans 🤢 those are the illegals ones that are entering the US n Mexico.
Strange .Elijah snow and his wife went to Mexico to celebrate a 10year anniversary and her fire-fighter husband was murdered. So many people are killed or hurt in these resorts and yet trip adviser will not let anyone leave a warning about what happens there.
If it is the same practice nightclubs do, it is based on the ice. The ice is modified so it makes you drunk faster - so you are cheaper in an all inclusive situation. It is shameful. What I recommend is stick to beer you open yourself, or drinks with no ice.
Human Friendly Languages what? what do you mean its ice
I am not a chemist, but it seems they can add some chemicals to the ice that makes the drink hit you harder. We have known this for years, so we always avoided drinks that had ice. Then, we learned that they can still spike the alcohol (give you less quality one in the bottle of a brand name) so safest bet is to just drink beer and pop the lid yourself.
How do i get some of that ice. 😁
I can't find any mention of drugged ice cubes, but I did find this:
www.usatoday.com/story/travel/news/2017/07/28/expert-tips-avoiding-tainted-alcohol-mexico/518368001/
It says that the ice may be improperly handled, and therefore contaminated.
It seems that the practice was to add "eter" to the ice - which I guess means adding Ether. As I (gladly) don't know anybody that does this, I can't ask anyone. I think the sad part about this whole thing is why are businesses thinking its ok to do anything like this. It's almost like they justify it because they have to offer free alcohol (or all you can drink) so they can cut costs. It is strange to see people go wild in other countries (what they would not do in their own country) so maybe shady people take advantage of this fact. However I think you are right, most articles talk about adulterated alcohol. Sadly I think the principal of just drink beer or something you see opened in front of you is best, and keep an eye on your drink.
What he SHOULD have stated: “But the investigation done by both state and federal Cartels concluded...” let’s be real here...
This happened to me in Puerto Vallarta years ago. I was drugged at the hotel and woke up 12 hours later after missing our flight. We're Canadian and after 2 Mexico trips we stopped going there. It was a nightmare trying to get home the next day. I only had 2 drinks. I couldn't stop vomiting and hardly remember a thing. The Doctor at the airport told me I was drugged and to report this. He said the Mexican cartel controls all the alcohol in the hotels and liquor stores. We noticed the liquor bottles at the resort all had broken seals?? We go to other tropical destinations now because we felt we were predated by the time share people at the all inclusive.
Ooooh...those super dangerous timeshare people....get real
Deb T So where do you go now?
Kikibear224
You know nothing with your sarcasm
Dale Evans When they are putting bombs on the ferry to Cozumel, that is not propaganda. When a man was murdered at a resort, that is not propaganda. When umpteen people are getting poisoned and robbed, that is not propaganda!!! My friend got pulled over by a cop. He had to pay the cop $300, and the cop let him go!!! I would not set foot in this country! I'll stick with Aruba, because I'm not cheap!!!!
What a joke is your comment!!! The drug dealers sell drugs at the clubs... They dont mess with the resorts alcohol... What a stupid comment!! Tourists come and drink like sailors then the resort is guilty!!! Come on!!
Just for you know as a foreigner in Mexico you have no rights. You can't own land if not a citizen or anything without being a citizen at all. Personal knowledge, it is common there to be arrested for nothing and have to give money to get out. So please just go to the islands if you want a tropical experience way better.
blair light Florida, California, or Hawaii. Exactly, safe places
Dale Evans unfortunately you are correct about our CIA but at least where I'm from , Canada, we Don't have dead bodies hanging from a bridge, decapitated people everywhere and lets not forget the brutal cover-up of Mexican police of the students who were tortured and killed.
You can own a time share in Mexico as a citizen. My family had one since 1972. Sold it in 2000 when things started getting shady
You can own property in mexico as a foreginer. Youre talking about old laws that have changed many years ago. Besides, people found ways to circumvent the law by having mexican citizens purchase properties for them. But, yes Mexico is corrupt. Police will shake you down for everything you have in your wallet.
Megyn, i want to recommend that Heidi and Corey spend their 2nd honeymoon in Barbados in the beautiful Caribbean. Its 4 hours from the USA, has 1 of the top 15 best beaches in the world, and also 1 of the top department stores. The best food chefts in the world, lowest crime rate in the world, great entertainment, friendly people, and home to Rihanna song bird of the century. 1USD IS 2 Barbados. Shopping will be great
I recommend Heidi& Corey stay on American soil.
The couple was staying at Valentin Imperial Maya. There is an article on the internet
Also In DOMINICAN REPUBLIC 🇩🇴 BUNCH OF TOURISTS DEATH NOW JUNE 2019 NO EXPLANATION
This is why travel in U.S where rule of law actually exist !
I’m Mexican American and I wouldn’t even go to Mexico for a vacation. As for the hospitals in Mexico, that’s how they usually work; pay first and then you get the treatment/service.
Do not say that you are Mexican I am Mexican living in Mexico and I am ashamed that you are and if you so dislike paying first in a hospital bring your own medical insurance from your country that here also accept it or what? Is not it enough to pay you one?
I was on holiday to florida with my family and my cousin ended very ill and i phoned reservation to ask for a doctor and they told me without insurance hotels dont have doctors how stupid is that???!!! In mexico you pay and you get treatment in the states without stupid insurance you died. In the end my cousin went back to mexico in an emergency flight and she got a severe kidney infection.
Isabel Pacheco-Abreu um not me, I got care without insurance, of course they ruin your credit but they can’t refuse treatment especially if it’s an emergency. You call 9/11 and they are forced to help you. Where were you at? a 2 star hotel? Either way they are suppose to call 9/11 to give you help. If not it looks bad for their business to let you die, and can be considered manslaughter for refusing to give a sick dying person medical attention in their own place of business.
I’m Mexican and I’ve never had to pay at a hospital before the treatment.
@@mariannaheide2466 because you’re Mexican
Something similar happened to my ex boyfriend. We were in Cancun and he blacked out and drank from the bathroom tap water and got extremely sick. They wouldn’t treat him until his family sent the money. We ended up stranded in Mexico for 3 days. It was a nightmare.
i used to vacation in mexico twice a year, every year......then, it started getting dicey....things were gradually changing......a newly wed couple disappeared in puerto vallarta ....a couple got robbed in our hotel on one trip.....we started feeling more guarded and less safe out at night when we passed a group on the sidewalks.....it stopped being fun and carefree........
brenda mills Even after that nightmare with my ex, My most recent trip was with my family and my daughter and even though it’s supposed to make us feel safe, it’s an uneasy feeling in your car/shuttle from the airport to the resort and pulling into the main road in Cancun with all the resorts and seeing cops/military in full military gear, with big guns. It scared my 5 year old. I get what they are trying to do.. but at the same time the Ak-47s (or whatever they are) are intimidating! While we were there there were like 8 murders IN Cancun. I love Cancun, but it’s making it really hard to go there because of the rising crime rate :(
brenda mills and I agree.. I didn’t feel safe once the sun went down outside of the resort. And even during the day you need to have your guard up. We also found a bag of guns in our cab. It was a van and we had 2 children (my daughter and nephew) and under my seat was a bag of at least 2-3 guns. I definitely wasn’t going to check.
Yes is like the nigthmare i suffered in USA and never came back the worst is that i was for a congress in my master studies wow i fell fine i didnt gone to USA for vacations a country full of predjuicies racism and violence and of course the 1st drug consumer in the world
@@rpb3348 if you're gonna try to converse with people who speak English on here, maybe you should at least know some basic English. 😂
I used to go to Mexico as a college student, we'd drive down & get car insurance over the border (US insurance doesn't work). But more than once I drove with someone who didn't buy their insurance, we were all taken to the police station & they let the driver go once he paid off the cops. And often we all had to pitch in if the driver was broke. It was normal, "They have so & so, do you have $40?"
Once I was 21, I never set foot in the country again.
Yeah a lot of Americans go there to do their 💩. They are known to act like fools over there. Glad you are doing your foolishness at home now
More reason l don't drink😏
Next it'll be the water
You can roofie a regular drink just as easy as an alcoholic one unfortunately
We don't go to Mexico because it is too dangerous 😬
Stay safe people ❤
Safer than the US
That's not uncommon for nightclubs to do, the simple solution is to just buy beer, or any drink that comes in a sealed bottle. That way you know what you're drinking.
I'm always amazed when someone tells me they are going to Mexico on vacation. You could offer me a free vacation to Mexico and I wouldn't take it.
You’ll miss out on the world if you live in fear.
Then They wiil have to miss your money, señora and you, you must then miss their unique charm.
I live here over 6 y... when I was drinking wine and beer all was fine. with cocktails could be some problems!
Me either no way
So wait - where did that happen? Mexico is a huge country... we have been to Playa del Carmen two times in a row the last 2 years and never had any problems ...
Good luck to them if they decide going to Jamaica... The worst beaches in the caribbean and extremely dangerous to leave the resorts...
Two Bears' Life is all lies just trying to throw dirt at mexico
no theres an actual problem that homeland security had issued a warning earlier this year. cancun is no longer really safe tourists are being attacked, drugged, and then some. Mexico is also allowing illegal production of alcohol too www.jsonline.com/story/news/2017/07/20/all-inclusive-resorts-mexico-suspected-drugging-tourists/490429001/
Two Bears' Life this did happen in playa del Carmen which is in riviera maya of the quintanroo county how ever you spell it. I got married there two years ago and have been three more times since. And no problems
It's fake news! Lol
Tourist should not go to Mexico until this is resolved.
they probably bought some bad drugs down there...
Diane Crane I mean you can but people do want to see the culture and the mayas artifacts and you have your opinion and I have mine but I think people should see other countrys culture and see what they do differently than what they do
Tourists should never go to the US until there are no more crazy people shooting randomly 🙄
Claudia Marcela Romero most shootings don’t happen in tourist area also shooting are rare here compared to Mexico also Mexico police are corrupt.
George Soros yup....but in México they happen bc they are fighting for power for drugs....in the US they happen bc a bunch of crazy teens lacking of family values just want some attention by killing little children ....wich is worse???....corruption is everywhere btw. :)
There are other great places to go...Malta is gorgeous! My husband and I saved for 5 years for our honeymoon there. They speak English there and it's like Italy. Best of all safe.
Dawn B yes but the reason why they went there is cause its much cheaper than other European destinations
It happened to my sister in Rio, thank god she made it alive.
My friends family lives there he said Mexico is not safe to go to. This is 2020. Wow how sad
Between the cartel wars, corrupt cops doing shakedowns, and being drugged - Mexico is indefinitely off my list of vacation destinations.
This legit just happened to me and a friend a couple weeks ago. Got the the pool the first afternoon. Had a couple beers and a couple shots. Neither of us remember leaving the pool or anything after that!
Here is a solution: Don't drink alcohol. Wooo it's Mexico we all gotta get drunk! No you don't. You don't need to drink to find other things to amuse you. WTH is wrong with people?
WTH is wrong with having a fruity drink or 2? Say we all obey and order sweet tea or a cola instead. There's nothing to stop the a-holes from poisoning those as well. Wooo it's creepy to blame victims. I don't even drink alcohol, but you are just wrong.
🤗👍
@@holly0297 You're right, and I don't drink either!
Don’t act like non-alcoholic drinks can’t get drugged it may not be as well-known but it still can happen. There is nothing wrong with getting a drink during a vacation on a honeymoon trip it’s the bartender fault not the victims.
I've been to Cabo, Puerto villarta, mazatlan and Cancun on vacation. Never had any issues. The one rule i have is I only drink something that is sealed and I open it or if i personally bought it sealed myself. Liquor soda water....anything.
So sorry this happened to this couple 😢. However, I do see so many people going to Mexico and have had no issues at All. Thanks for the info. God bless 🙏 be careful wherever you go.
We have been to Mexico about 20 times during the last 40 years. Everything from small hotels, B&Bs to all-inclusives. We drink beer and margaritas. Never had a problem. Minus Montezuma’s revenge that I got from eating a salad in a posh restaurant in Acapulco. I was sick for 2 weeks and dropped 10 pounds. But Mexico has been great ever since - minus some noisy places, ha, ha!
Same thing happened to me in Dallas, Tx and absolutely, NOBODY helped me there (police officers, I mean), actually, they made fun of me saying: “you deserve that and more Mexican!....”.
We went to Playa Del Carmen and the drinks are off. We were at an all inclusive - never again.
This can happen anywhere. Not just Mexico.
Happened to tourists in Thailand too.
Two friends of mine got robbed by police in Mexico.
There is something fishy here. Why not call out the name of the city and the resort? Not interested in protecting others? Or just trying to scare us away from Mexico in general?
Just be careful what you drink in Mexico or even America too or anywhere just think before you do it
I lived in Cancun for 2 years. A club I used to go to all the time got shut down for having their alcohol served tested and revealed the booze was mixed with Ethanol or Methanol. They were shut down permanently. So the bar was using cheap dangerous alcohol in their drinks...It made me so mad as that can make people go blind. And really, booze is so cheap there, a bottle of Jose Cuervo goes for about $8 US...they were selling bracelets for all you can drink for $30. Not too many people can drink a whole bottle...so its a greed factor..pure and simple. I have been going to Mexico for 30 years..every year and to all destinations and resorts..I have never had an issue! So I hope people don't watch this and for this story decide not to go! You can go rent a condo and buy your own booze and mix your own drinks if you are worried. Mexico is a lovely place to go..caution of course needs to play a part of your trip just as anywhere else in the world.
Why do you spend money abroad. Instead of helping your own economy ?
I love to travel! And get away from winter.
You can die not just go blind from wood alcohol kidneys just shut down , organ failure.
"you shoulda come here instead.....periodical gun play but the drinks are legit!"-las vegas
WHAT? YOU HAVE TO PAY UPFRONT FOR SURGERY THERE???????
omfg. Thats the worst horror i can ever imagine, im never leaving the UK now
It's not uncommon to pay first. But $400 is the rip off. It doesn't cost that much there.
It was $4,000, not $400! RIP OFF!
Bokuto Kōtarō this is common. Many countries won't treat you until you pay and many will scam you. Watched one vacation nightmare and it turned out the clinic was in on the attack on a tourist so they could get money out of them.
That how Mexico 🇲🇽 is
do not care where you are in mexico...you pay first regardless what your problem is
So sorry for them. A very nice couple.
I would never go to Mexico..on any terms..I've heard many horror stories about the corrupt officials and people...sickening...
Marion H me neither I used to work for the airlines and flew all over the world. Never got on a plane to Mexico and never will.
Happened in 2021 in the Dominican Republic, where 25 people died.
What kind of place charged four grand up front before providing treatment. That is so callous and who knows if it is even worth that much.
I'm an American who has lived in Mexico for 27 years. The "game" here is almost certainly the selling of adulterated alcohol to increase profits. It's unlikely that the hospital is somehow in on the scheme to make money. The adulteration of the alcohol likely happened at the production or wholesale level, with the extra profitability staying at that level. This a problem all over Mexico and the victims are most often Mexicans.
They got drugged
valerie rodriguez well they have no poof but they can be drunk or Actully got drugged (did they do a test that they had no drug in their system )
They said they had small amounts of alcohol..they were drugged.
no kidding sherlock
This happens to me every time I drink alcohol. I pass out and can’t remember where I am.
👍😂
Its called being stewed , glued and tattooed
I miss the Megyn Kelley show soooooo bad! Bring her back somebody!😭😭😭😭😭
What is the name of the resort? and town where it happened?
Avril Ortiz Avila Valentin Imperial Maya in Play del Carmen
DINDRAGON then she should run away from the US because is the country with the largest mass shootings and serial killers in the world
DINDRAGON: Finally, someone with some common sense.
DINDRAGON my husband and I have zero wishes to leave the US.... I mean I’d probably go to Italy or Spain tho....
Sam Galindo The U.S. is still by far the safest country in the world. This is coming from a person who has been to over 100 countries. Look up the craziness that goes on in South Africa, and you will be glad you live in America!!! 🇱🇷☝️
WAKE UP PEOPLE ITS GOING ON TODAY 2019 EVERYWHERE
Eva emery Exactly!! The six year old boy who was shot to death at a festival near San Francisco two days ago, would totally agree. So tragic!!
Ive heard horror stories going to Mexico but i have a friend who owns a beautiful house on the beach, she invited me to go with her, i said no,its dangerous to go there, shevsays i drive there all the time alone ,you jus go to your destination, not interact with ppl an your safe.
I still wouldn't chance going.
Too scary.
I hate that Mexico had become such a dangerous place. Used to go there all the time and was treated so well but now the timeshare BS and this so sad!
Well america is worst with mass shootings & racism, people from other countries prefer mexico because america hates everyone who isn't american & mexico loves everyone
Yeah, I also hate going to USA for vacation all the time, used to go to vegas one weekend a month, but now with all the psycho shooters you have there, you never know when you get hit. In Mexico, if you are not getting in trouble yourself, trouble most likely wont find you!
It's not dangerous... I go there every other month and I'm ok... These people are just drunks!
We went to Mexico some years ago and it was so beautiful, with great scuba diving. We stayed in a bungalow just a short distance from the beach...absolute heaven. Now, I wouldn't step foot anywhere near Mexico. Its become a complete shitfest...
Not true. America hates everyone who isn't American? Way to generalize. I love all groups & cultures. My uncle is Lebanese & the best man at my wedding is Laotian. I spent 8 years in the Navy and traveled everywhere from Kabul to Kosovo. My ancestors came to America from Ireland and build the Railroads with the Chinese. I never understood why people brood so much hate over what someone else looks like or where they are from. Humans are what they are by their actions and how they treat others.
This happened to my husband in the Dominican republic
It is not just Mexico- I have experienced the same at the MGM in Vegas- one drink and i was out forgot the entire night friends said i was acting crazy. If drinking is stopping you from going to Mexico u are loosing out, its gorgeous and very tourist friendly. If you do have any worries not just Mexico but anywhere; i would suggest not to drink and taker your own bottle.
Drink beer instead.
The Acomplishment or don't drink at all, that way you stay lucid and know what happens around you.
Drink beer from a bottle you open yourself. That is it. No ice. No mixed drinks. No shots that someone else poured. You want a shot, buy a closed bottle and open and pour it yourself. Women used to think they didn't have to worry about being drugged if they have a man or friend with them, dirty ice changes all that. Moment you get a glass of ice, a juice, a mixed drink... BAM! Drugged.
CLAUDIA MARTINEZ that’s a great idea.
Bottled drinks! And make sure it's opened in front of you!
Dont forget even an apparent non opened beer can be tampered with..happens all the time..Theres a way to open them and pop the lid back on and make it look like it was never opened!
You got to be smart, everyone can have fun and pleasure without alcohol. When you enter into another country you have to be more cautious and realize you are the foreigner and will be easily taken advantage of if not prepared. I was just in Mexico Jan. 2018 and rented a car and toured the Maya Riviera and it was one of my favorite trips because I didn't drink except for at the well established xoximilco with excellent reviews so do your homework, don't trust blended drinks with the poor water and tainted alcohol. Don't be out so late and go to clubs where fights happen and trouble will find ya, instead go to the monkey sanctuary, hit the pink lakes, go to the 3d art gallery museum, swim with the dolphins and sea lions, tour the islands, attend the markets, visit all the ruins and cenotes, and just make smart decisions. If you must drink make sure you have someone reliable with you at all times to monitor you, but if you really need a babysitter hit the clubs in the U.S.A it's much cheaper and you can easily access a beach for a much cheaper cost. Visiting another country should be more about embracing the culture anyway not getting hammered and staying cooped up at a resort.
Nope. I'll never go to Mexico.
Thank you so much for your comment. I'm leaving for Mexico in Sept. and reading all these comments makes me wonder. Not much of a drinker so I'll be fine. Its the adventure of seeing and doing everything is what has me excited.
The best vacation advice...ever!!!❤
Spot on Shawn.
Poison alcohol...same thing happened to my son this past year. One drink
They dont bother to mention the town, or area let alone the name of the resort! Worthless
They said Quintana Roo, Which will likely be Cancun, Playa Del Carmen, Tulum in Riviera Maya. Been going there almost every year, before Tulum was even a tourist destination.
I feel for all the people who are eager to go on a trip and enjoy a few days. But again my advice is stay home and enjoy what you've got around.
strange how her husband says he found her passed out and thought they were going to dinner 🤔🤷
Cause thats the last thing he remembers they were going to do before blacking out
Why this guy NEVER CALLED 911 WHEN SHE WAS FOUND ON THE FLOOR MULTIPLE TIMES IS DISTURBING!!
What possibly could a resort have to gain by feeding ANYONE bad alcohol? Makes no sense whatsoever
Robbery maybe..??
Set up to make $$$$
I'm 70 years old, I went to France and London on Sept. 2022 I was there with my Niece. I was fully COVID vaccinated and I contracted covid, I had 4 testing kits with me. Since my Nice was with me and we were sharing a room we started wearing masks even at bedtime, I went out to continue on with my vacation my Nice never tested positive we both started wearing masks except when eating. I have gone many times to Mexican resorts alone, I have drunk 1 perhaps 2 margaritas per day but on the 3rd day I say wait a minute you have drank alcohol every day is boiling hot and you must drink plenty of water, have a beer instead, drink plenty of water., I saw tourists from Europe drink and smoke, but I have never gotten sick at all. I'm Mexican and I absolutely know tequila is a powerful concentrated alcohol. I'm a Nurse who never drinks other than on an occasional dinner engagement with friends I only consumed a margarita with dinner. What happens in the resorts you can have unlimited alcoholic mixed drinks at the bars by the pool the rooms are stocked up with several bottles of hard liquor, mineral water beer, and sodas. People go crazy heavy-handed with alcohol consumption, the weather is humid up to 100 degrees, and the mixed drinks are delicious but people do not get hydrated. I think the Resorts should educate/inform their guests to drink plenty of mineral water to take breaks from the sun and eat. Alcohol will drop your blood sugar levels and the hot weather and scorching sun will dehydrate you. Alcohol in Mexico is not tainted. In Europe and the US, they do not have liquor in the hotel rooms only in the bars that you must purchase. In the US alcoholic drinks are watered down for profit. I went to Hawaii they gave us some kind of generic beer as part of a paid entertainment show, it was tasteless way water down. Pace yourself with alcohol keep hydrated and eat when drinking. I myself can only handle a good frozen margarita about twice a year or an ice-cold Corona during the summer
Thats why i buy my own sealed alcohol in Mexico from the store when i go.
No kidding.. You can't drink the water or ANYTHING opened use the ice and eat the food.. Why do people spend their money their is beyond me
My cousin was kidnapped in Mexico. I got back from a Mormon service mission last gear having left as a 19 year old. I love the people but it’s a very dangerous place.
Which resort???????
Not with alcohol, but we went to Playa del Carmen one year and my mom ate a soup with mushrooms in it and got super paranoid?? We joke about it now but someone legit threw shrooms in there
When they talk about having to pay up front, it’s not uncommon because that’s procedure there to make sure they get paid for what they do. . Unlike here in the states you can have it billed to you and never pay them.
Señora Antero F Mexico
People please be cautious when you go to unfamiliar places! Do not drink alcohol or go to bars/night clubs, and be sure to have one of you taste the drink beforehand as a test, even if it isn't alcohol. Ladies, we have a wonderful gift called intuitions..Trust it and use it as a guide. Be safe and stay focus of your surroundings. Enjoy your vacations, honeymoon or time away from struggles and stress of life. Good luck!
What do you mean “once in a lifetime”. My friends and I go to Mexico all the time. Thousands of people do.
2018, yes.
@@Toasty_-jx6zk not everyone can afford that. Especially people further away towards the eastern part of the US. Where it's more expensive because of how far it is away. I live in Ohio. Pretty close to Wisconsin where the couple is from. Even if I lived closer I still couldn't afford a trip to Mexico. Glad you and your friends can afford to go like all the time! However not everyone can afford such luxeries.
Toast.. Every trip, or given experience for that matter is "once in a lifetime". Understand?
Mexico this year jumped from 35 million tourists to 38 million, becoming the 7th most visited country. Also there is more diversification, more Asians (specially Chinese), Europeans and Russians.
THAT CUT HAPPEN IN ANY COUNTRY......PLEASE IN MIAMI
About medical care, in the US us tourists are treated the same way as they were in Mexico, that´s why you should ALWAYS have travelling medical insurance!
By the way, I´m not Mexican... I´m Brazilian and don´t like the way Americans go about other countries, like they are better... if it weren´t for our tourism to your country, Orlando/ Miami would not even exist!
Me and mum almost got kidnapped in Mexico. Yep never going back
Shaunasee Janssen omg and what happened? Did they ask for money
People save up money to go on a holiday that they have worked for and deserve and this is what they get?
Well thank God I dont drink alcohol
Could you please name the resort?
It happens in Hawaii too. I knew of several guys arrested for making GHB and putting GHB in women's mostly drinks.
Poor things. Their big holiday special treat turned into such a nightmare. I think it is better. tp organize your own vacation, go to an airbnb, forget the big hotels. This was a scam.
Do not go to Mexico for a vacation. Protest against this scandalous resort. Also against the hospital emergency crew for demanding
$ 4000.00 before they would operate. This money should be refunded. Shame on that Mexican resort.
if you gave free tickets ,i still will not go .
To the people saying they got drugged, why would the bartender drug them and not rob them or assault them? They weren't extorted, the hospital always makes them pay upfront
THE HOSPITAL ROBS THEM....
Thanks Brenda
Mexico wasn't safe when I was young and I'm 70 years old, what would make you think it is a safe place now? It is a whole different world there.
Yep, we canceled our Mexican cruise plans after this story broke. This year I've read several tainted alchohol stories regarding Mexico, a dr was recently killed on a Mexican vacation. I'm normally not a nay sayer, but I'm steering clear of Mexico.
I was in Mexico and I felt bad. I was with people who bought old cars and brought them to Mexico to get them painted for a cheap price. But the abject poverty is heartbreaking. How can you be a tourist and see people who are very poor begging for money?
Border towns are always like that
