  • The Jetta is not an average compact sedan, more power than the rivals with a 1.5 turbo 4. Roomy inside with a fun to drive 6 speed manual. Learn about the 2023 #Volkswagen #Jetta #Sport in this full #review

      @@HawkeyeRides Thanks, same with GLI? I guess price is low enough to save for the time belt change which may run as much as $2000 by the time it's needed if it makes it to that mileage.

    I own a 2021 S manual with the 1.4.
    28k no issues. A joy to own and a blast to drive. Roomy, comfy, pleasant interior. Big ___ trunk. On a recent road trip to Traverse City, I averaged 52 mpg.

    Test drove a 2023 Jetta sport 6-speed manual yesterday. Enjoyed it, thoroughly. It's a lot of car for the money. It's definitely on my shopping list. Volkswagen announced recently that they're phasing out ALL of their manual transmissions by 2030,so get one while you can!

    I have it in manual as well. Great car. I don't think actually there is a better car for $22000 MSRP. And all the other manual transmission cars in this class start from $24500 MSRP with the Elantra N line. The Jetta is the most affordable. Also it is the most economy and the most quiet in the cabin, and I think it is also the largest in it's class. You can't beat that. Not a fast car, but not slow either, it has a character. Also it's highly upgradable. After a couple of years you are going to have lots of aftermarket parts available as a Brembo rotors, Bilstein shock absorbers, Eibach springs, ECU flashes from APR and etc. It comes from the factory with Sachs suspension, Sachs clutch and Zimermann brakes. For $22000 MSRP..........DAS AUTO. Thank you VW!

    • @AlexD-xr6so
      @AlexD-xr6so ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Absolutely. The only mistake they did I think is chosing the tire size. You can't find any good tires that are 205/55 /17, so as soon as they wear out a bit I am going with 225/50/17 Michelin Pilot Sport All season which are the same diameter, but a little wider.. One of the original rear ones is going for a spare tire that I will put on a steel wheel for Jetta bought from ECS tuning for $113. And there is a whole in the trunk for original size tire that fits perfectly and that is very clever from VW as well, because I hate the tiny spares. Also coming from 2017 Honda Accord CVT, I like the Jetta better. It's more quiet, I command the transmission and has a great brakes compare to the Accord. Also has rear vents as well, but you can not see them unless you slide the seat forward, because they are hidden underneath.
      And one more thing.......NO more CVT for live for me. I don't know who invented this transmission, but it's the worst of all. I really hope there will be still manual choices, but I am afraid they are becoming rare. I can't believe how lazy and spoiled the people became and the most valuable thing in a car for most people nowadays is not the performance or dynamics, but the infotainment system and driving assist. It's sad..... very sad!
      Thank you for posting this review and helping us to choose a nice vehicle that makes you actually like driving it for almost the lowest price in it's class!!!!

    Happy New year Anthony. I'm having a little trouble focusing this morning. The wife and I had a little too much sparkling apple juice last night.
    I don't think anyone gets as much out of a 1.5 as VW. I did not give it the same conversation last year as the other cars in class. That was a mistake.

      @HawkeyeRides  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Happy New year Sam, it was a long night for us too 😁.
      Volkswagen has some great vehicles but sadly they only advertise top sellers. The best part is these are still affordable vehicles msrp under 21k but if you want a manual it’s hard to find.

    The Canadian versions come with a spare tire and many more features that this car is missing. The bigger screen, the better stereo, the push to start, leatherette seats, automatic climate control, the storage pocket has a wireless charger built in. Actually come to think of it this looks like a base Jetta with a Sport stickers on......I have the manual 2023 model and this one is clearly missing the Mode button with which you put it into the Sports mode, which makes it a really fun car to drive. To anyone consider buying one go ahead they are a great car. My only complain is the weak sound system in the lower two tiers which can be resolved by installing a sub in the trunk.

    Wish they ditched the torsion beam rear suspension and gave it the multi-link independent rear suspension like they did in the last generation - or better yet, double-wishbone suspension.

  • @threeer02

    Love the thought of a manual Jetta…but talk about cost-cutting. Just about every car on the market now has push-button start and many even have climate vents in the rear…and does “every day” mean cheaper plastics??

    • @HawkeyeRides
      @HawkeyeRides  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Every day or hard materials is always plastics and I agree all vehicles should be push start but even a Toyota options a key with no rear vents 👍

    Funny how the German car is now better performing than almost all the Japanese counterparts at the same price. The Civic Sport 2.0, 6 speed manual is about $3K more and noticeable slower, although it handles the same. The base Corolla is dog slow and boring. But the new base engine on the most basic 2023 Mazda 3 is now the 2.5L, 191 hp 4 cylinder (the 2.0 has been dropped). With a starting price of $23.6K, it is the only competition to this VW. So there it is....the 3 for long-term reliability or the VW for the 40+ Highway MPGs.
