Yes, spot on. Lived in Okinawa during my middle school years 76-79. Been to the mainland a few times. It’s not just the key signatures, it’s the unique timing of traditional Okinawa and Japanese songs. Korean folk music also has very odd timing. We were told not to try and clap along, as it would disrupt the musicians’ timing, which was understandable. Went decades later to see a Korean folk music concert ( Korean is such a hard language to try and understand , I am married to a Vietnamese woman and have traveled the globe) . I had older Korean men coming up to me after the show who had watched me get into the music during the show , and asked if I was familiar with the music, and the timing, and odd, unexpected time signatures is what they were really trying to ask. I said no, that I just enjoy all music. It calls to me, and I can feel and anticipate the rhythm. Music is part of me. Steve, I am really happy I discovered you and our music. It’s obviously part of you, and you feel it, too. Btw, seen this latest video with MAB in it? th-cam.com/video/7LY-i0hk5sQ/w-d-xo.htmlsi=vykkmC7VjSJrOAAf
Awesome thank you. It’s my dream to travel to Japan and the far east. I’m not super knowledgeable of this music but I like to use it to add some flavour (albeit subtlety) in my playing. I’ve seen that video, MAB is a funny guy 😆🤘
The book "Grimoire scales and Modes has all these exotic scales, but what he is giving you here is the phrasing of the scale itself, which i believe is important in modal music
Thanks! I don’t have the pdf files. They are only available in the book or you can order this chapter in ebook form here www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0DK5Y6HL1
Model 8. It was made in 1988 only and hard to come by. The blue one I have also is a Spectrum which is the same guitar but with a recessed floyd and the toothpaste logo. Those were made between 89-91. They are really hard to come by, and when I do find one someone has unfortunately hacked a humbucker into the bridge or some other sacrilege😆😭
Different scales... quite different moods... excellent Master!, thank you!
Thanks buddy! I like Hirajoshi and the Chinese scale the best.
@@MaestroStevieJ86 Yes, they're most emotional. Thanks for sharing.
